Production is moving fast on Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Hollywood star Colin Farrell has shed some new light on his work in the film as the villainous Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin.
While promoting his work in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen with Jimmy Kimmel, Farrell was pressed for information on The Batman and confirmed with little doubt that he is indeed playing The Penguin and that work is progressing on the new superhero blockbuster.
Looking particularly chubby, Farrell talked about his interaction with director Matt Reeves and the film’s script. “I’m still in the process of talking to Matt Reeves, who’s the director, and who wrote the script and wrote a really, really beautiful, dark, moving script. Really gorgeous,” said Farrell.
He also conformed that security is incredibly tight on the project and that the process is still underway to establish his final character.
“It’s all very hush hush, but it’s a really beautiful script that he wrote. He has a real love for it. We’re still in the process of just finishing the design and aesthetic of the character,” said Farrell.
All this paints a very encouraging picture of The Batman and something that should deliver a real narrative punch.
The Batman will arrive in cinemas on June 24, 2021.
