‘The Invisible Man’ promises plenty of shocks

He’s one of Hollywood’s most innovative writer-directors and now Australian director Leigh Whannell is bringing his own style to a bold and freaky re-imagining of The Invisible Man.

Watch the scary new trailer below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Trapped in a violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist, Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss) escapes in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid).

But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax.

As a series of eerie coincidences turns lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

The new trailer for The Invisible Man builds on the tension that we first saw in the initial teaser trailer, and it cranks things up this time as our protagonist Cecilia (Elizabeth Moss) tries to out run her abusive and sociopathic ex-boyfriend Adrian Griffin who has a pathological obsession for her.

Whannell has raised the horror elements here, and his blend or white-knuckle suspense and a re-thinking of H.G. Wells classic narrative has set the stage for a terrifying thrill ride that will keep you on edge the entire time.

The Invisible Man will arrive in cinemas on February 27.
