Christian Bale confirmed as lead villain in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
After much speculation, we can now officially confirm that Christian Bale is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is taking on the lead villain in Taika Waititi’s forthcoming superhero blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder.
MovieWeb has confirmed Bale’s casting, although details are still incredibly sparse about who he’ll actually play in the film.
Bale will join a cast that includes Charis Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman who is returning as Jane Foster.
Bale had previously been rumored for a role in Thor: Love and Thunder with many anticipating that he may have been in the talks for cult classic character Beta Ray Bill. However those plans now seem to be dashed with Bale on villain duties.
Waititi has claimed that Thor: Love and Thunder will really ramp up the cosmic energy that we last saw in Thor: Ragnarok, and that things will get even wilder this time with Thor: Love and Thunder.
Bale is regarded as one of Hollywood’s most eclectic performers, with a vast array of credits including America Psycho, The Prestige, Vice and a stellar turn in last year’s Ford v Ferrari. He also famously left a considerable mark as Bruce Wayne/Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and he’s sure to bring another memorable performance to the big screen in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Thor: Love and Thunder will arrive in cinemas on November 5, 2021.
