Recently we brought you word that George Miller was working on his Mad Max: Furiosa spin-off prequel movie and that Jodie Comer had been potentially eyed up to take on the lead role. It seems that Comer isn’t the only actress to be being sort for the coveted role of Furiosa as now rising star Anya Taylor-Joy (Emma, Split) has apparently been auditioning for the new film.

In a new report form IndieWire, Miller is said to be holding auditions, via Skype, for Furiosa and that Taylor-Joy is one actress whom he has been looking at for the role.

Miller is hoping to start production in 2021, although with the COVID-19 situation which is still unfolding this could again push the production out even further.

In addition to the Furiosa spin-off prequel, Miller has also been working on the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road sequel, Mad Max: The Wasteland, which will reunite the director with Tom Hard as Max Rockatansky, and will find this outback anti-hero exploring the vast wasteland of the apocalypse once more.

We’ll have to wait and see how this all draws together in relation to both the Furiosa spin-off film, and Mad Max: The Wasteland, but hopefully these two films will be shot back-to-back so we can get two blockbusters together quickly.
