Taika Waititi offers up new details for ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’
Instagram watch parties are currently the rage at the moment, and there’s plenty to be excited about after James Gunn revealed some very exciting information related to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.
But Gunn isn’t just the only one who’s been hosting watch parties as recently Academy Award winning New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi hosted a watch party to celebrate the arrival of Thor: Ragnarok on Disney+, and the director offered up some very cool new info for fans.
In typical Taika fashion, the director sent much of the party cooking dinner for his kids, and not actually focusing in on the actual film itself. But he did field plenty of questions from fans related to the much anticipated sequel, Thor: Love and Thunder which will star Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman and Christian Bale as the film’s major villain, whom is yet to be revealed.
One of the cool things that Waititi revealed was that Thor’s former friends and flat mates Korg and larva-like alien Miek will be seen in Thor:Love and Thunder with expanded roles. Waititi also revealed that he’ll likely be exploring the culture of the alien Korg, along with the possibility of love life as well.
While Waititi did claim that he’s a fan of cult-classic character Beta Ray Bill, he did admit that he wasn’t certain whether he’d appear in the film, which he has claimed that he’s written 6 drafts of the script so far. He also confirmed that the Silver Surfer will not be seen in Thor: Love and Thunder either.
Waititi was also joined by his cast from Ragnarok including Tessa Thompson and Mark Raffulo and it was while talking with Thompson that the director revealed that Thor: Love and Thunder will be 10 times bigger than Ragnarok and it felt like the film was just a list of things a 10-year-old would ask for and he’d said yes to everything. Now that’s something we can really get behind!
Also Fat Thor seems like a goner as well, but Waititi did hint that if Chris Hemsworth can mount up the courage for more prosthetics that we might see ‘Old Thor’ instead this time around!
Thor: Love and Thunder is shaping up to be everything we could want and hope for, and it’ll be one very fun time at the movies when it arrives in cinemas on February 18, 2022.
