A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Al “Fonzo” Capone (Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Capone’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.
Directed bu Josh Trank, Capone, previously titled Fonzo, has long been held as a passion project by Hardy, and it finds the revered actor going full method as the sickly Capone who is plagued by nightmarish delusions of a life that was lived on the edge and paid for in blood.
Hardy is unpredictable, wild and on the verge of complete insanity here as Capone, and this film will seriously get under your skin with plenty of complexity and a whole heap of shocking violence courtesy of Hardy.
