It’s been an incredibly long road for Josh Boone and The New Mutants, and just when we thought we were going to see it the film was pulled from theatres related to health and safety concerns regarding COVID-19.
We’re still having to wait patiently for The New Mutants to finally be released but Boone has helped our spirits out with some intriguing new images that highlights the film’s villain and gives us a new look at Anya Taylor-Joy’s Magik.
Boone has long said that he wished to focus his adaptation on ‘The Demon Bear’ storyline and this ferocious creature looks freaky and powerful and should really give our characters a run for their money, Then there’s the nightmarish Smiling Men to be afraid of….but confronting them is Anya Taylor Joy as tough chick Illyana Rasputin aka Magik, who is ready to knock a few heads here.
Along with the new imagery we also have new details confirming that Antonio Banderas’ casting has now been confirmed for the role of Emmanuel da Costa, father to Henry Zaga’s Roberto da Costa / Sunspot, and that his appearance in the film was to set up a connection to the Hellfire Club, and future installments. Banderas appearance took over from Jon Hamm, who had filmed a cameo role as uber-villain Mister Sinister, but any hopes of seeing Hamm in the film have been left on the cutting room floor.
It’s still very much up in the air at the moment as to when we will actually see The New Mutants finally debut, but hopefully we’ll be able to see it released before the end of the year.
