Ever since 2017’s Justice League things have been a bit up in the air for a future Superman/Man of Steel film, and many fans have been hoping that Henry Cavill would once again don the cape and shield of Superman and soar into the heights once more.
While it looked like all hopes of this had been dashed with Warner Brothers seeming to cancel out any notion of a future Man of Steel film sequel when they announced that they were working on a Supergirl film instead.
However, it now looks like Superman might finally once again get his moment back in the sun, as GeekTyrant reported on the fact that the Supergirl film has now been postponed and new development is back on again for Superman.
This truly is great news, and I have my fingers crossed that Henry Cavill might finally be on his way back to once again portraying Superman in a Man of Steel sequel.
Cavill is still contracted for one more film appearance as Superman and has been very vocal about wanting to return to portray the character and he’s got a very keen on take on want he wants to bring to the screen.
Of his performance in any future sequels, Cavill said, “where we left off with Man of Steel, in particular, was the guy who had found his place, or was trying to find his place but had sort of found it by the end, that had committed something which he would consider a most horrific sin by killing the last member of his species. That is a place where I would like to travel from with the character. Him exploring the positivity of who he is. Not necessarily the chocolate box version, but the leaning into that. That character who becomes an icon of hope and enjoying that experience rather than necessarily being made uncomfortable by it.”
This is definitely the type of Superman movie I’d love to see and I think with Cavill back in this position we could get something truly amazing.
Here’s hoping that we see him back in the red cape sooner than later.
