Here’s the official synopsis:
Following the loss of their son, retired sheriff George Blackledge (Costner) and his wife Margaret (Lane) leave their Montana ranch to rescue their young grandson from the clutches of a dangerous family living off the grid in the Dakotas, headed by matriarch Blanche Weboy. When they discover the Weboys have no intention of letting the child go, George and Margaret are left with no choice but to fight for their family.
Let Him Go us shaping up to be a classic story of good verses evil, and it’s underdog neo-western vibes are sure to keep naudiences on edge. Writer/director Thomas Bezucha adapts Larry Watson’s pulse-pounding novel and really ups the stakes as one regular couple make a stand to protect their family and free their grandson from a very hostile environment.
This one clearly has shades of Unforgiven and No Country for Old Men and both Lane and Costner display two great interwoven performances here. While Costner cuts a rugged figure as former lawman George Blackledge, who’s quick on the draw, it’s Lane who is sure to steal the movie as his gutsy wife Margaret who is willing to walk through hell in order to rescue her infant grandson from the clutches of a deranged and maniacal cult.
Let Him Go is sure to pack a powerful punch and audiences eager for this type of thriller will be able to catch next year in cinemas on February 4, 2021.
