It’s one of our most anticipated Marvel films to go into production and noted New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, the much anticipated to his game changing Marvel debut, Thor: Ragnarok is shaping up to be something to be extremely excited for.
And now star Chris Hemsworth himself has confirmed that production is set to start next year in January 2021.
In an interview on Twitter, Hemsworth confirmed that Waititi is finishing off polishing the script at the moment and the Marvel promised that this new Thor film will be something very different for Marvel fans.
“[I’m] very excited to try to do something different, you know, the last three films we certainly, I think, pushed the envelope and created different versions of the character, and now people expect some dramatic changes. So we’ve got our work cut out in that sense,” said Hemsworth.
Thor: Love and Thunder is also a very big deal as it will also see the return of Natalie Portman to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thor’s former love interest Jane Foster. Foster’s character will take direction from the acclaimed The Mighty Thor comic book storyline and will find Foster battling an aggressive form of cancer, which leads her to assume the mantle of the god of thunder to save her from the disease.
There are also rumors teasing that Waititi will bring back the iteration of ‘Fat Thor’ back into the script, and we may even see a guest appearance from the Guardians of the Galaxy, who Thor hitched a ride with at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
With Waititi’s noted creativity and reputation for pushing the envelope, Thor: Love and Thunder will be a cinematic event that Marvel fans can really get excited for, and it’s very cool to learn that it will begin shooting in just a few months in Australia.
