An intense new trailer arrives for ‘Judas and the Black Messiah’
2021 is shaping up to deliver plenty of standout films, and one of the most exciting in Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah.
This historical-dramatic-crime-thriller couldn’t be more relevant and powerful in its timeliness and messaging and the new trailer is sure to leave audiences on edge. Check it out below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
FBI informant William O’Neal (LaKeith Stanfield) infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya). A career thief, O’Neal revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and his handler, Special Agent Roy Mitchell (Jesse Plemons). Hampton’s political prowess grows just as he’s falling in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson (Dominique Fishback). Meanwhile, a battle wages for O’Neal’s soul. Will he align with the forces of good? Or subdue Hampton and The Panthers by any means, as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover (Martin Sheen) commands?
Building off of the first teaser trailer, which was released late last year, this new trailer for Judas and the Black Messiah takes audiences inside the clandestine actions by J. Edgar Hoover (Martin Sheen) and the FBI to destroy all semblance of the Black Panther Party, and in particular its charismatic leader Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya).
The new trailer makes for an intense watch thanks to lead performances of Daniel Kaluuya as the charismatic Hampton and LaKeith Stanfield as petty criminal William O’Neil who would ultimately betray Hampton and lead him to his death.
Judas and the Black Messiah is set to have its world premiere at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will then arrive in cinemas later this year.
