New content arrives in time for January on Acorn TV


It’s a brand new year and with that comes brand new content on Acorn TV. And for fans of the best in British television, there’s plenty of content to be excited about, including some must watch new releases.

The Wipers Times – Monday 25th January

Stumbling across a printing press during WWI in the ruins of Ypres, Belgium, Roberts played by Ben Chaplin (Thin Red Line, Murder by Numbers) commandeers his fellow soldiers to make use of the find and create a satirical journal that was emotional, intelligent, and outrageously funny.

Directed by Andy De Emmony (Father Ted, Canterbury Tales) and stars Michael Palin (Monty Python and the Holy Grail, A Fish Called Wanda), Emilia Fox (The Pianist, Cashback, The Soul Keeper) and Patrick FitzSymons (Line of Duty, Vanity Fair).

The Last Detective, Series 1 & 2 – Monday 25th January

An easy watch comedy crime drama following Peter Davison (Doctor Who, Vera) as the bumbling but dedicated Detective Constable “Dangerous Davies” who is always given the bottom of the pile cases no one else wants.

Sensitive Skin, Series 2 – Monday 25th January

Starring Sex and the City’s Kim Cattrall, Sensitive Skin is a six-episode series that tells the story of Davina, a fifty-something-year-old woman, and her husband Al who sell their comfortable upper middle-class family home and move to a hip condo in downtown Toronto in an effort to reinvigorate their relationship.
