Michael B. Jordan cranks up the action in ‘Without Remorse’
Michael B. Jordan is a bonafide Hollywood star who has taken his place amongst the A-list with an amazing array of projects including Creed, Black Panther and Just Mercy, and now he’s ready to cement his position as an action star with the no-holds-barred adaptation of Tom Clancy’s classic Spec Ops revenge story Without Remorse.

Here’s the official synopsis:
The film tells the origin story of John Kelly aka John Clark (Michael B. Jordan), a U.S. Navy SEAL, who uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice for the murder of his pregnant wife by Russian soldiers. When Kelly joins forces with fellow SEAL Karen Greer (Jodie Turner-Smith) and shadowy CIA agent Robert Ritter (Jamie Bell), the mission unwittingly exposes a covert plot that threatens to engulf the U.S. and Russia in an all-out war.
Packed to the brim with brutal action scenes, and a benign story of revenge, Without Remorse, looks like a solid, modernized adaptation of Tom Clancy’s classic novel, and Jordan gives a great performance as John Kelly, the man who would become John Clark. As one of Clancy’s best-known characters, Clark is an elite Navy SEAL turned CIA assassin, and here in Without Remorse, we see his brutal origin come to life and the circumstances that made him so.
Previously played by Willem Dafoe and Liev Schreiber, and was at one point going to be portrayed by Tom Hardy. Now Jordan has made the character his own, and he looks utterly lethal as an elite Special Forces operator from the U.S. Navy SEALs who is determined to exact vengeance no matter the cost. With his performance, Jordan looks lithe and cat-like and has this great hunter quality to the character, while director Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of the Soldado) and writer Taylor Sheridan (Wind River), focus on the character’s operating skills, particularly the SEALs penchant for underwater operations and the recent combat experiences of veterans during the War on Terror.
Without Remorse appears to be an impressive new production for Jordan, and with his new deal in place with Amazon Studios, I feel we’ll definitely be seeing more of him as Clark, in what I can only hope leads to a full-on John Clark franchise.
Get ready for plenty of energy and a whole lot of gnarly action when Without Remorse arrives on Amazon Prime on April 30.
