Just over a week ago, we were presented with the kick-ass new trailer for James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, and now Gunn has given audiences another special treat with the arrival of a new trailer that takes us even further into the action and crazy characters of his wild new film.

Watch the new trailer for The Suicide Squad below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Imprisoned convicts of Belle Reve penitentiary are sent as members of Task Force X to the South American island of Corto Maltese to destroy Jotunheim, a Nazi-era prison and laboratory which held political prisoners and conducted experiments.

This new trailer gives deeper into the actions of the key characters of The Suicide Squad and we get a more up close and personal look at key characters including Idris Elba’s Robert DuBois/Bloodsport; a technologically advanced mercenary, David Dastmalchian’s Abner Krill/Polka-Dot Man; a criminal who wears a suit covered with polka dots that are actually a variety of gadgets, Daniela Melchior’s Ratcatcher 2; a villain who controls rats including her pet rat Sebastian, Sylvester Stallone’s King Shark; a man-eating humanoid shark and John Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker; a ruthless killer who believes in achieving peace at any cost.

Margot Robbie also takes centre stage this time in the new trailer as former psychologist turned psychotic criminal Dr. Harleen Quinzell aka Harley Quinn, and this time Harley is all-the-way out there and completely deranged and Robbie is definitely going to give audiences a run for their money this whacky meets crazy performance from the actress.

There’s so much amazing new footage presented in this trailer and long-time fans will have a lot of fun analysing every frame to dissect the action and character translations from the comic book pages to the big screen, and there’s sure going to be plenty to keep fans engaged.

It’s clear that Gunn has given his rendition of The Suicide Squad wicked comic-book energy and he’s really playing into the idea of showing a superhero war movie that features the ‘worst of the worst’ comic book villains and this is certain to lead to a widely original comic book movie….as Gunn is well known to make.

Get ready to embrace the crazy when The Suicide Squad arrives in cinemas on August 5.
