A true classic that first aired on Masterpiece Theatre in 1975, Poldark is a gripping romantic drama set in the 18th Century, following America’s War for Independence. Robin Ellis (The Europeans, The Good Soldier) stars as Captain Ross Poldark, a young hero who was thought to have died in the war but instead returns home to find his estate in ruins, his inheritance gone, and his beloved Elizabeth (Jill Townsend, Alfie Darling) engaged to another man.
Drawing comparisons to Gone with the Wind, this captivating story showcases stunning images of the Cornish coast, spurring a surge in tourism when it first aired to an audience of 15 million viewers each Sunday evening. Also starring Clive Francis (A Clockwork Orange, Inspector Clouseau, Mr. Turner) and Jane Wymark (Midsomer Murders).
