Watch the brand new trailer for Snake Eyes below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Snake Eyes (Henry Golding), a tenacious loner who is welcomed into an ancient Japanese clan called the Arashikage after saving the life of their heir apparent. Upon arrival in Japan, the Arashikage teach Snake Eyes the ways of the ninja warrior while also providing something he’s been longing for: a home. But, when secrets from his past are revealed, Snake Eyes’ honor and allegiance will be tested – even if that means losing the trust of those closest to him.
Kicking into high action right from the first frame, this new trailer absolutely goes for it and long time G.I. Joe fans will be amped for what comes next. Rising Hollywood star Henry Goulding takes on the role of the elusive loner Snake Eyes, who saves the life of Thomas S. Arashikage/Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji), the leader of the Arashikage clan and who in a debt of gratitude offers him a path to follow and a brother to call his own. From their through brutal training and unrelenting grit we see Snake Eyes rise forth and action junkies looking for their kick will be impressed.
I’ve long been looking for a proper ninja film, and with Snake Eyes, it looks like we’re clearly going to get it. This is a martial arts action with the choke chain taken off, and the action is served at the end of a katana blade and it gets downright intense with Goulding and Koji craving their way through a host of unrelenting COBRA thugs.
Also of interest in this new trailer is that we finally get an insight into the re-birth of the battle that is taking place between the international terrorist organization COBRA and the rag-tag G.I. Joe team. It’s definitely a brand new look on the 1980s classic and Snake Eyes is a great way to re-introduce the franchise and build a structure for what comes next. In keeping with this, we are introduced to Joe operative Scarlet (Samara Weaving) and COBRA assassin The Baroness (Úrsula Corberó), and these two characters certainly have a grudge to bear.
For those looking for a wicked action rush on the big screen, they’ll certainly find it here in Snake Eyes. Ready yourself to walk the path of the ninja when it arrives in cinemas on July 22.
