One of 2021’s most eagerly anticipated releases is Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which will tell a brand new story set within the Ghostbusters Universe and what’s more this new narrative is being directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Thank-You For Smoking), son of Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be a very family-focused movie.

Both Reitman’s reminisce about the experience of the making of the 1984 comedy classic, and it’s here that Jason Reitman discusses what it was like growing up on a set, and just what it meant to be to have a father who is a director.
“Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a movie about a family, which is being made by a family”, says the younger Reitman. “It’s as much about the passing of the torch metaphorically, and the passing of a proton pack.” The elder Reitman also commented on the sight of seeing his son pick up the reigns as the director and it was a very impactful experience for him. “It was very emotional to see that story living again after so many years through my son,” said the elder Reitman.
This interaction between father and son is an insightful and often humorous conversation and long-time Ghostbusters will gain a very interesting insight into the making of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and some of the on-set nuisances that occurred during its photography.
In addition to this new look behind the scenes, we’ve also get the presence of an all-new clip from the film concerning the arrival of the hilarious Mini-Puffs:
Here’s the official synopsis:
After being evicted from their home, a single mother and her two children are forced to move to a decayed farmhouse in Summerville, Oklahoma, left to them by the children’s late grandfather, where a series of unexplained earthquakes are occurring despite not being situated on any fault and strange things are happening in an old mine once belonged to the alleged occultist Ivo Shandor. The children discover their grandfather’s history with the original Ghostbusters, who have since been largely forgotten by the world beyond their fan base. When supernatural phenomena relating to New York City’s “Manhattan Crossrip of 1984” arises and threatens the town, the kids, along with their family and friends, must use the Ghostbusters’ equipment to save it.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to be one of 2021’s biggest blockbuster events and with its story of family and the supernatural, audiences can expect something truly cool when it arrives in cinemas on November 10.
