It’s one of 2021’s most anticipated films and now we have a brand new look at Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, the epic big-scale adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science-fiction story, and these images promise a cinema experience of mythic proportions.

Featured in this character presentation are key characters including Plau Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac), Duncan Idaho (Jason Momoa), Gurney Halleck (Josh Brolin), Chani (Zendaya), Stilgar (Javier Bardem) and the fearsome Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellen Skarsgard).

The photography that captures these individual characters is filled with sublime beauty and presents a portrait of a fantastical science-fiction universe that I cannot wait to step into.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the far future of humanity, Duke Leto Atreides accepts stewardship of the dangerous desert planet Arrakis, also known as Dune, the only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, “melange” (also called “spice”), a drug that extends human life, provides superhuman levels of thought, and makes faster-than-light travel practical. Though Leto knows the opportunity is an intricate trap set by his enemies, he takes his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, young son and heir Paul, and most trusted advisors to Arrakis. Leto takes control of the spice mining operation, which is made perilous by the presence of giant sandworms. A bitter betrayal leads Paul and Jessica to the Fremen, natives of Arrakis who live in the deep desert.

We’re just days away from the official release of the new trailer for Dune as a part of a special IMAX presentation that will give select audience members a key insight into the film and how it came to be.

It has also now been confirmed that Dune will have its official world premiere at 78th Venice International Film Festival on September 3.

Dune is set to arrive in theatres on October 21.
