Here’s the official synopsis:
Disney+ and Marvel Studios invite you on an unexpected holiday getaway, unwrapping a brand-new teaser trailer and poster today for “Hawkeye,” a new series set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Set following the events of Avengers: Endgame, long-time soldier, secret agent and Avenger Clint Barton/Hawkeye is coming to terms again with the real world and is desperately trying to find a way to makeup for lost time with family. But the presence of his past as Ronin brings to light a new vigilante and very unexpectedly Barton ends up with a new apprentice and partner in the form of archery phenom Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), and soon the two of them are on a crazy adventure that sees team crashing through the streets of New York as they race to stop a deadly new threat.
Packed out with crazy action and plenty of Christmas cheer, Hawkeye has all the trapping of a great buddy comedy and that terrific action-comedic-fun energy of classic buddy cop films such as Lethal Weapon along with the fun of timeless classics such as His Girl Friday. Renner looks great ass the elder Hawkeye, a stern-faced veteran who has to let his guard down, while Steinfeld is full of energy as new Hawkeye Kate Bishop and her enthusiasm leads into plenty of trouble for Barton.
Hawkeye also features an incredible cast including Vera Farmiga as Kate’s mother Eleanor Bishop and Tony Dalton as Jack Duquesne, an early mentor to Barton and will also introduce audiences to Alaqua Cox as the gifted Maya Lopez/Echo, a deaf Native American girl who can photographically mimic the combat moves of anyone she witnesses. Then there’s also the return of Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova/Black Widow who has a serious grudge against Barton and is ready to go to war against him.
As a character, Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton/Hawkeye has always been one of the most intriguing and interesting of the Avengers for me. As this former military man/spy, Renner has always brought this sense of cocky-cool to the part and he’s definitely matured and developed over the year’s and I’m excited to see his story, along with his past as Ronin, explored further here in the new Hawkeye series.
Hawkeye is packed full of energy and looks be a whole lot of fun for audiences this holiday season and Marvel fans will be in for a whole lot of fun when it arrives on Disney+ on November 24.
