‘Hello Sidney.” Ghostface is back, and this time it’s about to get very personal in the high stakes horror film that is Scream.
Watch the new trailer below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.
Set twenty-five years after the original 1996 teen slasher classic, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) will once again have to face down the bloody knife of Ghostface alongside the likes of Dewey Riley (David Arquette), Judy Hicks (Marley Shelton) and Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) as a killer comes back to Woodsboro to resurrect its dark past.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett pick up the camera from the late, great Wes Craven and have gone to work on a film that looks legitimately terrifying and which will really amp up the horror that it brings to the screen. This time the emphasis is on Ghostface’s return and his pursuit of the relatives of the original killers including the likes of Billy Loomis and Stu Macher, Mickey Altieri, Roman Bridger, Jill Roberts and Charlie Walker, and this makes the setting of the new Scream that much freakier as the new Ghostface has his eyes set on exacting generational killings.
Just where Sidney Prescott features into all of this is yet to be seen, but it began with her and she’s certain to be of chief importance to stopping Ghostface once and for all. Add in a new generation of horror cinema and new rules of the genre and things are sure to get spooky and scary very quickly.
Brace yourself for plenty of scares when Scream arrives in cinemas on January 14.
