‘The Boys’ – ‘Herogasm’ – Review
It’s here. The moment that you’ve been waiting for. Herogasm. And you’ll never be the same after watching Episode Six of Season Three of The Boys.
Finding himself recruited as a make-shift member of ‘The Boys’, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) sets his sight on taking out former Payback teammates, The TNT Twins. And Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) are along for the ride. But Solider Boy’s not the only one searching for the Twins, Annie January/Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) are also seeking them out, and they find them at the infamous ‘Supe’ orgy known as ‘Herogasm’.
We’re here. We’re finally here. We’ve arrived at Herogasm. A full-on ‘Supe’ orgy of no-holds-barred sexual liberty and uncontrollable superpowers. This is ‘Supes Gone Wild’. And it’s about to get messy. We’ve been building to this ‘event’ episode of The Boys for some time now. And you’re not ready for how raunchy, debauched and sticky it’s about to get in this episode. And it’s perfect. Showrunner Eric Kripke understands how important this infamous event is to the overall narrative of The Boys. and he and his team go all-out in their effort to bring this ‘event’ of sheer depravity to life. And they don’t shy away from anything that could be considered taboo. While The Boys has been pushing boundaries since the beginning, ‘Herogasm’ takes it to a whole new level, and Kripke and his team don’t hide anything from the camera this time.
Episode Twenty-Two of The Boys, ‘Herogasm’ is like nothing you could have expected and then some. It’s the absolute peak moment of The Boys. Starting off with complete full-frontal nudity, nothing is off-limits in ‘Herogasm’, with every kind of kink catered for. From icicle dildos to telekinetic cunnilingus, and every other shocking act imaginable, ‘Herogasm’ takes audiences into the belly of the sex beast, and your eyes, mind and soul will not be spared with this episode. We knew the ‘Supes’ were messed up, but this event takes their perverse actions to a new level. It’s wild, crazy and out of control, and audiences won’t be able to look away.
But ‘Herogasm’ isn’t just one big orgy, well it is, but there’s also a lot of active drama present in this episode, and none of our characters is left better off by its conclusion. One such character is arch-villain Homelander (Antony Starr) who finally reveals the true motivations behind his evil acts, and it’s a shocking revelation to see where his hate comes from. Audiences also get an insight into the motivations of Soldier Boy (Ackles) who reveals himself to be a repugnant, racist, sexist and bitter old dinosaur from another era who hates this new ‘modern day’ that he’s found himself in. It’s a totally different side to Ackles than we’ve seen before and he pulls it off perfectly. No character is spared in ‘Herogasm’ and I’m pretty certain none of them is ever going to be the same after this episode.
‘Herogasm’ is the wildest episode of The Boys to date! Packing together shocking narrative revelations, plenty of naked people and a whole new level of crazy, it’s the event moment that The Boys has been working up to…and it delivers on every level. But after witnessing this episode you might need some time to cleanse yourself of this manic television event. 3 to 5 days should be sufficient.
