Courage is tested to the limits in ‘Thirteen Lives’
The events of the 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue would capture the world’s attention as a group of unexpected heroes would do everything they could to rescue twelve Thai teenage soccer players and their coach from rising monsoon flood waters.
Now, this heroic event of epic proportions finds its way to Prime Video courtesy of director Ron Howard in Thirteen Lives….and this new trailer will have you holding your breath for dear life.

Thirteen Lives recounts the incredible true story of the tremendous global effort to rescue a Thai soccer team who become trapped in the Tham Luang cave during an unexpected rainstorm. Faced with insurmountable odds, a team of the world’s most skilled and experienced divers – uniquely able to navigate the maze of flooded, narrow cave tunnels – join with Thai forces and more than 10,000 volunteers to attempt a harrowing rescue of the twelve boys and their coach. With impossibly high stakes and the entire world watching, the group embarks on their most challenging dive yet, showcasing the limitlessness of the human spirit in the process.
Directed by celebrated filmmaker Ron Howard, Thirteen Lives is shaping up to be a thrilling piece of cinema and will place audiences right into the claustrophobia, fear, adrenaline and triumph of one of the greatest moments of human achievement.
From the first footage that we’ve been presented with it’s clear that Howard and his production team have gotten all the details right, and his intention is to put audiences right into the heart of the danger of this shocking event that captured the world’s attention.
In terms of casting, Thirteen Lives has three performers at the top of its game. Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton star as cave divers Richard Stanton, John Volanthen and Dr Richard ‘Harry’ Harris, and each brings an absolute realism to their role. All three have the mannerisms and character of their role packed down, with Mortensen and Farrell being indistinguishable from their real-life counterparts. Each of these actors understands the momentous task that they have in portraying these true-life heroes and it’s clear that they’ve given everything of themselves as actors to get this story right.
This first trailer for Thirteen Lives is a rollercoaster of emotion and adrenaline and it has you on the edge the whole way through. It’s a taste of what is to come with the film, which has been praised by test audiences for its reality and heroism and audiences are going to be blown away by what they witness with this piece of cinema.
