Here’s the official synopsis:
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
Beautifully rendered, and capturing an endearing emotional heart, Avatar: The Way of Water is shaping up to again be another completely transformative piece of science fiction cinema, and Cameron’s direction and focus on his new mythic story again establishes why he is one of cinema’s greatest ever visionaries.
Audiences get a deeper insight into the family drama that lies at the heart of Avatar: The Way of Water with former Marine turned Na’vi war chief Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and the love of his life Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), having to once again do everything in their power to protect their family from a dangerous, and now evolved human threat that once again return to wage war on Pandora. The emotions run high in this trailer, particularly in relation to Jake and Neytiri’s young daughter Kiri (Sigourney Weaver) who is manifesting abilities and powers that give her a direct line to the Pandoran goddess Eywa.
The visuals look outstanding in this new trailer, and this film’s focus on its aquatic setting and the exploration of a new side of Pandora’s eco-system, which was inspired by Cameron’s own passion for marine life, will truly resonate with audiences.
Prepare for a cinematic experience of wild science-fiction fantasy when Avatar: The Way of Water arrives in cinemas on December 15.
