The thriller genre is having a bit of a renaissance moment at the moment with a raft of films that have taken the genre and pushed it into a new direction with a new subversive quality, and Zoë Kravitz’s Blink Twice fits that mould.

Check out the brand-new trailer for Blink Twice below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

When tech billionaire Slater King (Channing Tatum) meets cocktail waitress Frida (Naomi Ackie) at his fundraising gala, sparks fly. He invites her to join him and his friends on a dream vacation on his private island. It’s paradise. Wild nights blend into sun-soaked days and everyone’s having a great time. No one wants this trip to end, but as strange things start to happen, Frida begins to question her reality. There is something wrong with this place. She’ll have to uncover the truth if she wants to make it out of this party alive.

Originally carrying the working title of Pussy Island, Zoë Kravitz is taking the next step in her career with this shocking and completely deranged thriller that finds a balance between both horror and comedy for a genuinely unhinged and chilling experience.

Channing Tatum is really changing things up with an almost pseudo Charles Manson-like performance as creepy tech billionaire Slater King who invites the wide-eyed Frida (Naomi Ackie) on a glamourous trip to his private island, and it’s there that things get all kind of nuts really quickly. There’s an uneasy and sickening quiet and relaxation to Tatum’s performance, and it’s clear that he knows more than he’s letting on about just why Frida and his guests are here. And you can bet things are going to get nasty quickly.

This trailer for Blink Twice is just a taste of what is to come, and I’m betting that Blink twice is going to be this year’s Saltburn and it will deliver one hell of a shocking twist for audiences when it arrives in cinemas on August 22.
