Colin Farrell is ready to take it all in ‘The Penguin’

Academy Award-nominee Colin Farrell changed everything up with a truly transformative performance in The Batman as Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot/The Penguin, and now he’s ready to fall into a truly dark and murky place with one of 2024’s most anticipated series in The Penguin. And the new trailer has arrived.

Watch the brand-new trailer for The Penguin below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set one week after the events of The Batman, the series explores the rise to power of Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot / Penguin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.

Released as a part of SDCC 2024, this new trailer for The Penguin presents audiences with Oz’s dark and dirty rise to the top as he takes to the streets of Gotham City in the wake of The Riddler’s terrorist actions, and sees opportunity in the broken streets of Gotham City. This new series promises a twisted take on the American Dream, and Farrell goes for it as a gangster whose dreams and bullets will see him rise to the top… by any means necessary.

This new trailer also gives audiences a key insight into the new character of Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), the absentee daughter of former Gotham crime lord Carmine Falcone (John Turturro), and how terrorised the city with a series of vindictive serial killings that dubbed her ‘The Hangman’. Now rehabilitated after a stint in the infamous Arkham Asylum, Sofia is back on the streets of Gotham, and she’s determined to sit in her father’s seat as the overlord of Gotham’s crime underworld. And she ain’t going to let Oz get in her way.

There’s a tonne of friction in this new trailer for The Penguin, and with Farrell’s recent comment that the series is ‘as dark as night’, audiences who are seeking a strong fix of carnage will be well pleased with what awaits here. It’s going to be a murky and noir-tinged watch.

The Penguin is set to be a sprawling crime epic. As a key interlude to the actions and narrative of The Batman: Part 2, it will be an essential watch for fans of the Bat when it arrives on SKY TV and Neon on September 20.
