New featurette welcomes you to the underworld of ‘The Penguin’
A power vacuum now lies in Gotham City following the events of The Batman and the death of Carmine Falcone, and Academy Award-nominee Colin Farrell as would-be crimelord Oswald ‘Oz’ Cobblepot makes his claim for the throne of Gotham’s underworld in a chilling and dark noir crime series in The Penguin.
A brand new featurette has just been released which gives further insight into The Penguin, and it’s street level view that it will give audiences as we peer into aftermath of The Riddler’s (Paul Dano) brutal terrorist attack on Gotham City, and the environment that it offers an upstart mobster like Oz the chance to rise to the top.
Watch the brand-new featurette for The Penguin below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
Set one week after the events of The Batman, the series explores the rise to power of Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot / Penguin in Gotham City’s criminal underworld.
This new featurette offers up a keen insight into the narrative that is set to unfold in The Penguin and examines not only Oz’s character and perspective as a huckster and hustler on the rise but also his confrontation with the vicious spawn of Carmine Falcone: Alberto Falcone (Michael Zegen), a reckless playboy who thinks of himself as a big shot; and Sofia Falcone (Cristin Milioti), a clinically deranged sociopath, who has been released from Arkham Asylum after a string of murders that dubbed her ‘The Hangman’, and who now seeks to take control of her father’s business.
The featurette also gives a clearer picture of Oz’s relationship with his bolshie, vindictive and mentally disturbed mother, Francis Cobblepot (Deirdre O’Connell), who is very clear about her son’s mission to rise to the top, and who’ll do anything to encourage his viciousness.
There’s a fantastic level of new footage on offer in this new featurette, and audiences will get a full taste of the new series and exactly what they can expect from Colin Farrell’s gigantic performance as Oz and his role as a made guy with bigger dreams.
Get ready for an incredibly murky, dark and dangerous new crime series when The Penguin arrives on Neon and SKY TV on September 20.
