Miles Teller channels the will of a true life fighter in Ben Younger’s gritty boxing drama Bleed For This, which follows the story of Vinne ‘The Pazmanian Devil’ Pazienza, a world championship middleweight boxer who suffered a shattering neck injury which left him wheelchair bound and in a halo neck brace. Refusing to give up, Vinnie, along with the help of his strong-willed trainer Kevin Rooney (Aaron Eckhardt), made a full and hard-won recovery and returned to the ring to reclaim his title.

Bleed For This is an interesting step in Teller’s development as a performer, especially given his intense physical transformation into the shredded Pazienza, but with the seriousness of the role, it also allows Teller to show off his considerable dramatic chops. Director Ben Younger, who helmed the 90s cult film Boiler Room, is marking his first time behind the camera in 11 years.

Bleed For This is one movie we’ll be rooting for when it arrives in cinemas on November 23.
