It’s Mar 10, and Nintendo fans have just been treated to a very welcome surprise: the brand-new trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has landed — and it’s bursting with colourful, gravity-bending action.

Building on the billion dollar smash success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this next chapter sends everyone’s favourite moustachioed plumber far beyond the Mushroom Kingdom and straight into the stars. The new footage teases a bold, dazzling animated adventure that promises warp-speed fun as Mario and friends embark on their biggest quest yet.

Watch the brand-new trailer below.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) join Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Toad (Keegan-Michael Key) on an adventure into outer space and across the galaxy to face off against Bowser’s son, Bowser Jr (Benny Safdie).

Following the previous teaser that introduced the fan-favourite Yoshi, this new trailer raises the stakes considerably. Mario, Peach, Luigi and Toad suddenly find themselves in a whole universe of trouble as they contend not only with the tyrannical Bowser, but also his ambitious heir Bowser Jr.. What follows looks like a race across galaxies, with cosmic obstacles, wild creatures and dazzling new worlds standing between our heroes and total catastrophe.

And visually? This thing looks absolutely stellar.

The animation on display in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie trailer is bursting with colour, energy and imaginative spectacle, delivering the kind of turbo-charged animated thrills that feel tailor-made for the big screen. From star-spinning planets to gravity-defying action beats, it’s shaping up to be one of the most energetic family blockbusters of the year — and one that Mario fans will want to experience with a packed crowd.

But the fun isn’t stopping on-screen.

To celebrate the arrival of tickets going on sale, Universal Pictures New Zealand is preparing something truly spectacular for local fans. On the evening of Saturday, 14 March, Auckland’s iconic Sky Tower will light up with a massive projection event inspired by the film.

The large-scale display will transform New Zealand’s tallest landmark into a cosmic canvas, bringing the vibrant worlds of Mario’s galactic adventure to life in what’s being billed as an industry-first spectacle — a full-video projection celebrating Nintendo and Illumination’s next animated event.

Fans eager to catch the action live can head to:

The base of the Sky Tower at SkyCity Auckland from 8:00pm to midnight on Saturday, 14 March

Or anywhere in the city with a clear view of the tower lighting up the skyline.

It’s a fittingly big celebration for a franchise that has defined gaming for generations, and with Mario now blasting into the cosmos, the scale of the adventure is only getting bigger.

So mark your calendars — because when The Super Mario Galaxy Movie lands in cinemas on April 1, it’s bringing plenty of interstellar chaos, Mushroom Kingdom magic, and family-friendly blockbuster fun along for the ride.

The new trailer for Dark Wolf has just arrived, and it promises to be a chilling and psychologically complex narrative that will take audiences into just how Kitsch’s Edwards flipped from hero to villain, and what the cost of true loyalty can sometimes deliver.

Watch the full trailer for The Terminal List: Dark Wolf below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a prequel series with an origin story that follows Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations. The series is an espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.

Celebrated author Jack Carr, alongside showrunner David DiGilio and Terminal List stars Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch, have been putting in the work to make Dark Wolf a thrilling experience for audiences, and by the looks of this trailer, they’ve really delivered. The action is incredibly visceral and intense, with plenty of close-quarter gun fights and mayhem being unleashed across Europe, but it’s DiGillio’s focus on the fractured psyche and psychological intensity of Kitsch’s Edwards where this series will really find its mark, and there’s going to be a lot of heavy drama on display.

Dark Wolf is also set to expand the larger canvas of The Terminal List and prepare audiences for the events of the forthcoming second season, which will adapt Carr’s True Believer, and a key new character for the series will be Tom Hopper as Raife Hastings. Hopper brings an incredible presence to the series as the hulking Hastings, a former SEAL, and the wildest character of Carr’s Terminal List series. There’s an edge and punk rock flavour to Hastings, and with Hopper’s jacked presence and focused intensity, he’s sure to leave his mark on audiences.

As with Season One of the runaway hit The Terminal List, authenticity is a core pillar of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf – with military veterans contributing as writers, actors, on-set technical advisors, and executive producers, the series is committed to portraying the mindset, brotherhood, and moral complexity of Special Operations with respect and realism.

2022’s The Terminal List brought the action, intensity and energy to Prime Video and it made for a hell of thrilling watch for audiences as Chris Pratt stepped into the role of Jack Carr’s US Navy SEAL turned vigilante avenger Lt. James Reece and it shook Prime Video to its core with with 1.1 billion minutes viewed across eight episodes.

Introduced within this action-packed thriller was ex-SEAL turned CIA ground agent Ben Richards, who was played to excellence by Taylor Kitsch, and now Kitsch is back in the role of Edwards for a special prequel series dubbed The Terminal List: Dark Wolf which will explore how Edwards fell from grace as a SEAL and ended up in the murky, dangerous world of the CIA and blakc operations. And this teaser presents a dark thriller to come, and will make for a hell of a watch for fans.

Watch the all-new trailer for The Terminal List: Dark Wolf below:

Here’s the official synoposis:

he Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a prequel series with an origin story that follows Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations. The series is an espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.

Building off from the first initial images that were shared from the project, this new trailer for Terminal List: Dark Wolf delivers both on the promise of nail-biting action, but also a deep psychological study of Kitsch’s Edwards and the impact and fallout of actions experienced during the War on Terror. Showrunner David DiGilio has also taken the world of The Terminal List to a grander global battle-zone and they’ll be plenty of international intrigue and back-handed narrative points and double crosses to keep audiences dialled in.

“Digging into Ben’s origin with Dark Wolf was a blast. This season goes even deeper—there’s more grit, more heart, and a lot more on the line. It’s raw, it’s honest, and it really lets you see the heart of who he is. I have so much respect for the military and SEAL community and loved showing their brotherhood, the things you fight to hold onto, and just letting it all play out. I think fans are going to have a great time with it,” said Taylor Kitsch, Executive Producer and star of Dark Wolf.

While the narrative will focus in on Kitsch’s Edwards this time around, Terminal List star Chris Pratt will play a key supporting role in the series as James Reece, along with being introduced to Tom Hopper’s Raife Hastings, another member of Reece’s platoon, and a loyal friend, and one of Carr’s ultimate cult characters who has a legion of fans for his no-nonsense, run n’gun stance in Carr’s novels.

Additional cast announced for the series include Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry, Rona-Lee Shimon as Eliza Perash, Robert Wisdom as Jed Haverford, Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq, and Shiraz Tzarfati as Tal Varon, while Jared Shaw and LaMonica Garrett will return as as Ernest ‘Boozer’ Vickers and Commander Bill Cox.

Prime Video’s adaptation of Jack Carr’s action-packed and intense military thriller The Terminal List starring Hollywood A-lister Chris Pratt as former U.S. Navy SEAL Sniper turned vigilante Lt. James Reece was an instant hit with audiences when this intense, brutal and gnarly series hit Prime Video back in 2022.

And now Carr and series showrunner David DiGilio are back to hype up the action with a brand new prequel series that will focus in on the character and motivations of Reece’s former best friend and teammate Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) and the actions that turned him into a savage killer and turned him from the honour he once held in The Terminal List: Dark Wolf. And this is shaping up to be a must-watch television event.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will serve as a prequel series that will unlock the origin story that follows Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) throughout his journey from the Navy SEALs to the clandestine side of CIA Special Operations. Serving as an espionage thriller that explores the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it, Dark Wolf will be a solid hit of psychological intensity, and audiences are sure to be shaken up by this new prequel.

A host of new images have arrived teasing out the new series which will take audiences back to Edwards and Reece’s (Chris Pratt) time in the Teams during the Iraq War, and will also introduce an incredibly new important character into the Terminal List, Raife Hastings (Tom Hopper), another member of Reece’s platoon, and a loyal friend, and one of Carr’s ultimate cult characters who has a legion of fans for his no-nonsense, run n’gun stance in Carr’s novels.

Along with the return of Chris Pratt as James Reece and the introduction of Hopper’s Hastings, new casting for the series includes Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry, Rona-Lee Shimon as Eliza Perash, Robert Wisdom as Jed Haverford, Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq, and Shiraz Tzarfati as Tal Varon, while Jared Shaw and LaMonica Garrett will return as as Ernest ‘Boozer’ Vickers and Commander Bill Cox.

As with Season One of The Terminal List, authenticity is a core pillar of The Terminal List: Dark Wolf – from the depiction of military operations and intelligence work to the emotional and psychological realities of service. With military veterans contributing as writers, actors, on-set technical advisors, and executive producers, the series is committed to portraying the mindset, brotherhood, and moral complexity of Special Operations with respect and realism.

In a recent profile piece in USAToday, Carr and Pratt dug deeper into Dark Wolf informing that it will serve as both an origin story to Edwards dark turn, along with highlighting and introducing characters who will step up in a major way for Season Two of The Terminal List, which will adapt Carr’s 2019 hot action thriller True Believer and which is set to feature Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry; a crass, self-obsessed CIA contractor and Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq; a former Iraqi Special Operations Forces officer.

Pratt and Carr developed the prequel series following the smash hit of The Terminal List, and the enthusiasm was deeply felt by DiGilio and filmmaker Antoine Fuqua. Dark Wolf follows Edwards, who, as a resident wildcard, is discharged from the SEALs after an operation, and his coveted trident insignia is removed from his uniform. “One split-second decision changed the course of his life,” said Taylor Kitsch. “You’re not only stripping the bird off his chest, you’re stripping away a piece of who this guy is and his purpose.” It’s then that he and Hastings get embroiled in the murky world of double dealings and brutal revenge killings of international intelligence operations, and the pair soon become entangled with Mossad agent Eliza Perash (Rona-Lee Shimon) who has her own war to fight.

“This is the origin story,” Kitsch said, vowing to reveal the road to Edwards’ betrayal. “This is the story that gets us to that point. There was so much heat around Edwards with that twist and all these questions about how. You’re going to learn a heck of a lot more about who Ben really is and these twists and turns that led to that decision.”

In Kitsch’s own mind, Dark Wolf offers him the opportunity for a story that could lead to more prequel seasons for the character and allow him to really dig deep into those dark moments that shaped him into the character audiences met back in The Terminal List.

“I just think it came out really strong. I wish I could tell you where we’re taking him,” Kitsch says. “If we’re lucky to get a second season of ‘Dark Wolf,’ it would be even darker than this season, no pun intended. This really dives into the story of a man fighting for the greater good. and not winning.”

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will premiere its first three episodes on Wednesday, August 27, with new episodes following weekly, with all of it leading up to the season finale on Wednesday, September 24 on Prime Video.

Prime Video’s The Terminal List took the platform and audiences by storm with its no-holds-barred action-thriller experience, and much excitement was had when it was revealed a prequel series was on the way focusing on Taylor Kitsch’s paramilitary assassin Ben Edwards. Now Prime Video has confirmed the series as The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, and that cameras will role this year.

Here’s the official synopsis:

An elevated espionage thriller that takes viewers on Edwards’ journey from Navy SEAL to CIA paramilitary operator, exploring the darker side of warfare and the human cost that comes with it.

The six-episode prequel series is set five years before the events of The Terminal List and will focus on Edwards’s journey from decorated Navy SEAL to the world of dark, clandestine spy operations and how this path twists Edwards’s own morality against the men who were once his brothers. Kitsch will headline the miniseries, and will be joined by Chris Pratt as James Reece along with Jared Shaw as Boozer.

Variety has also just confirmed that English thespian Tom Hopper, a hulking British performer of immense talent and size and the star of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, has signed on to portray the pivotal character of Raife Hastings, both in Dark Wolf and the forthcoming second season of The Terminal List.

Production is set to start soon on The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, and with a little bit of luck, we might get the series premiering before the end of the year.

It was one of our favourite television releases of 2022 and now, after much speculation, Chris Pratt is officially set to return as Navy SEAL James Reese for a second season of The Terminal List. And a whole new media franchise is now on its way.

As confirmed by both Prime Video and Deadline, Prime Video has now ordered a second series of the highly watched action-conspiracy-military The Terminal List which took the streaming platform by storm last year and which will now adapt the Jack Carr’s second Reese novel, True Believer for a brand new series.

But it’s not just more of Pratt as Reese that audiences will be getting, as Prime Video is also looking to expand the universe of The Terminal List and is actively developing a prequel series that will follow Taylor Kitsch’s Ben Edwards, Reese’s SEAL team-mate and accomplice. Pitched as an elevated espionage thriller, the as-yet-untitled prequel series will take viewers on Edwards’ journey from Navy SEAL into the dark, shadowy intelligence black-ops world of the CIA as he becomes an established CIA paramilitary operator, and will explore a more sinister and grittier side to modern warfare and the human cost that comes with it.

While no indication has been made as to which series will move forward first, we do know that the prequel series will place greater emphasis on the background of Edwards, along with exploring other characters in The Terminal List including the as-yet uncast Raife Hastings, a former SEAL and key ally of Reese, along with other characters including the infamous Mohammed Farooq and Reese’s SEAL squadmate Ernest “Boozer” Vickers who was played in Season One by Pratt’s longtime friend, trainer and former SEAL Jared Shaw.

Of the new announcement series star and producer Chris Pratt said, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to reprise my role as James Reece.” He also noted that Season 2 of The Terminal List “promises to be even more intense and action-packed than the first” and that the prequel “will be just as thrilling and engaging as The Terminal List.”

“The phenomenal summer debut of The Terminal List is a testament to the creativity of Jack Carr, David DiGilio and Chris Pratt along with the cast and teams who delivered such an original and compelling series” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon and MGM Studios. “With the second season of The Terminal List and Prime Video’s new prequel series starring the amazing Taylor Kitsch, we are expanding on the storytelling and characters beloved by so many all over the world.”

The announcement was also made official on Instagram today as well, with Pratt taking to the platform to offer fans an update on the series:

In a statement he said:

“Exciting news, everyone! I’m thrilled to announce that I have the honor of reprising my role as James Reece and executive producing TWO new @jackcarrusa Terminal List projects with @primevideo. First, the highly anticipated second season of the smash hit, “The Terminal List.” Get ready for more military authenticity and heart-pounding action. You spoke. We listened. “True Believer,” is coming soon. And that’s not all, I’m also stoked to share that we’re making a Terminal List prequel, starring the talented Taylor Kitsch as “Ben Edwards.” The show will take us even deeper into Carr’s gripping world of military suspense as Ben makes the transition from Navy SEAL to ground branch CIA officer. It doesn’t get any more real than this! Stay tuned for more updates!”

This news that we’ll be getting an expanded Terminal List is pretty damn exciting, and I can’t wait to see what comes in this next chapter of The Terminal List as James Reese’s story is expanded upon.

It’s here! The first teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3, and as my most anticipated film of 2023 I cannot wait to see what acclaimed writer-director James Gunn delivers to audiences with this blockbuster superhero adventure.

Watch the first trailer below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Peter Quill/Star-Lord (Peter Quill), still reeling from the loss of Gamora (Zoe Saldana), must rally the Guardians of the Galaxy on a mission to defend the universe and protect one of their own.

Described by James Gunn as the concluding chapter of his Guardians of the Galaxy saga, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 looks to be a film of big drama and emotion as the Guardians take on their most personal mission to not only save the universe, but each other as well.

James Gunni throwing everything of himself as a filmmaker into this project, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is ready to take audiences to the furthest uncharted sections of the cosmic side of the MCU yet. And it’s going to be very exciting to see what happens with this film.

Within the world of the MCU, the Guardians of the Galaxy rank as my favourite characters of all time, and I’m extremely excited to see how this movie shapes up and the surprises and action that awaits. While this teaser trailer does move fast, audiences get a closer look at new threats that are posed to the Guardians who include the sociopathic nemesis of the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), along with the cosmic force of Adam Warlock (Will Poulter).

The heart and crux of this teaser trailer is also focused around the character of Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) who has become an integral part of the MCU, and I’m certain his appearance and performance in this picture will result in plenty of tears. Just watching this teaser trailer I can feel the emotion and I have no doubt that its about to be a very heavy watch.

It all comes down to this, the final episode of Prime Video’s The Terminal List, ‘Reclamation’ is before us, and it’s the concluding chapter to what has been the most gung-ho, nail-driving, in-your-face, tomahawk-wielding action television event of 2022. And your adrenal gland will be working overtime with this all or nothing final episode of The Terminal List as Navy SEAL James Reece readies to cross the final names off his list.

A showdown brews at Secretary of Defense Hartley’s Orcas Island estate as Reece, Katie, Ben and Tony’s paths and objectives collide.

Following the trauma and violence of Episode Seven, ‘Extinction’ former Navy SEAL, turned vigilante fugitive James Reece (Chris Pratt), is now on the run. Alongside his best friend and former SEAL teammate Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitach), Reece now has his reticle targeted on U.S. Defense Secretary Lorraine Hartley (Jeanne Tripplehorn). But while Reece thinks this will be a direct-action assassination, Hartley has a curveball as she’s taken Reece’s truth-seeking contact, investigative reporter Katie Buranek (Constance Wu) to her island estate, making for one hell of a showdown. It’s all come down to this in ‘Reclamation’, the final episode of The Terminal List. And it’s about to get gnarly.

Behind the camera again is director Sylvain White, who made a big impact on audiences with his work on Episode Six, ‘Transcience’, which with its First Blood-inspired escape, and evasion action pulled audiences into the deeply conflicted character of James Reece. White’s work on ‘Reclamation’ follows a similar path as he brings us Reece, front and centre, who is now completely gone from the man he once was. Running on fumes and living only for the final kill, Reece is ready to deliver the final blow, and White keeps the intensity high the whole way through. Shifting back and forth in perspective between Reece, Katie and FBI Agent Tony Layun (JD Pardo), who is determined to take Reece down once and for all, White focuses the attention of his audience on the dark, twisted truth as the ugliness of Hartley’s actions is brought into the light.

Fans of Jack Carr’s writing and worldbuilding will also be happy with a reference to a key character from the world of The Terminal List, Reece’s former SEAL teammate, the mercurial, yet loyal Raife Hastings. While Raife’s mention is only a subtle tease, it’s a cool moment of ‘things to come’, and fans of the books will be very excited with this reference point. ‘Reclamation’ makes for an intense watch, and White amps up the thrills, but he also injects some low-key comedy into the proceedings. On their approach to Hartley’s estate, Reece and Ben’s interactions have a goofiness and fun that’s reminiscent of classic ‘bro comedy’ films such as The Hangover. And this gives the episode some fun and levity when needed.

But in the end, ‘Reclamation’ is the final chapter of a justice that needs to be delivered. And Reece is ready to go down range. White, Pratt, Carr and technical advisors Jared Shaw and Ray Mendoza, who are both former SEALs, lean heavily into the maritime war component of Reece’s character, and we get to see him kitted up in state-of-the-art dive gear as he makes his stealthy approach in the episode’s third act. From this moment everything goes to hell, and Pratt brings out the M4, on full auto, locked and loaded and packing one hell of a suppressor and gets to work. The action is intense, visceral, in-your-face and packed out with authenticity. Audiences will be on the edge of their seats as Reece carves his way through Talos Tactical contractors like a shark. Plenty of brass is spent, with Reece’s fight ending with a brutal hand-to-hand melee where the infamous Winkler Tomahawks come out. And they strike hard.

Minute by minute in this final episode you’re holding your breath for what comes next, and the intensity of ‘Reclamation’s’ third act will have your heart beating fast. This is Reece in full savage mode, his final act, and damn does he pull out the big guns. ‘Reclamation’ packs in a lot of surprises into its third act, and audiences will definitely be interested in how it ends, and the impact this has on Reece.

Since the start of this series, we’ve seen Reece undergo considerable change and development as a character as he’s moved from an All-American hero to a rogue, no-holds-barred antihero. We’ve seen a man who’s been battling to save his soul in the grimmest of circumstances, and in the final moments of The Terminal List, Reece finds himself with a way to redemption. The emotion hits equally as hard as the action of ‘Reclamation’, and audiences will be pleased with the conclusion that Reece finds himself in.

The Terminal List is a series that from start to finish has been an example of television at its best. With a deep commitment to character, narrative, action, authenticity and honouring those who take on the fight down range, it’s been one of Prime Video’s best releases, and audiences have experienced one hell of a ride with it. Chris Pratt honoured Jack Carr’s work perfectly, and the character of James Reece is one of the most exciting new heroes to make the leap from the page to the screen. And all I can say is bravo, and bring on Season Two.

Navy SEAL James Reece (Chris Pratt) is drawing closer to the truth and the completion of his mission of vengeance in The Terminal List. In Episode Seven, ‘Extinction’, Reece returns to his home of Coronado, California to exact personal revenge on the men of his command who betrayed him. And he’s about to bring the hammer down.

Reece returns to Coronado to bring the hammer down on the people who betrayed him the most. Back within the walls of his family home, fragmented memories surface. Katie plays ball with the FBI in order to finish her story.

James Reece’s (Chris Pratt) mission of revenge has become all-consuming for the former Navy SEAL. Having lost all of the things in his life that matter to him he’s now devoted all of himself to exacting a very personal justice. And the monster is clawing at his soul. Eliminating the names on his ‘terminal list’ one by one, Reece is now ready to take out those leaders he once trusted, and who ultimately betrayed him. And it’s personal. While we’ve seen the action rev up and down in The Terminal List, in ‘Extinction’ Reece’s actions are considerably darker and more terrifing, for he now only sees things in shades of black and white. There are some dark and explosive moments in this episode, and his resolve is frightening as there are now no limits to what he’s willing to do to achieve mission success. And it’s dangerous for everyone around him.

While Reece is continuing in his bloody search for answers, investigative reporter Katie Buranek (Constance Wu), is also searching for the final answers to her questions. From Capstone Industries to Nubellum, WARCOM Command and even the Pentagon, Katie has traced the breadth of this conspiracy, and she’s nearing the truth. And it’s dangerous. Placed under supervision by FBI Agent Tony Layun (JD Pardo), Katie reveals why she is the way she is, and her answers paint a portrait of a woman who will risk everything to fight injustice. With a conspiracy this complex, the truth only matters now, and Katie’s got one final card to play in order to find it.

While there’s a cold edge to the narrative and action of ‘Extinction’, this episode is important for Reece as this antihero finds his way back home. And it’s a place filled with fragile memories and the ghosts of the past. Director Frederick E.O. Toye brings considerable creativity to ‘Extinction’s’ third act as Reece returns home, is confronted by his former life, and comes face-to-face with the truth. Looking back on the life he once held, Reece is able to see every facet of it in a new light, and these moments are revealing. Pratt’s performance in these scenes as Reece are intense and heavy. He’s an absolute wreck from the trauma he’s experienced, and all his memories and emotions, the happy, the sad, the tragic and the violent, all suddenly smash together.

‘Extinction’ is the hardest-hitting episode of The Terminal List to date. It shows the series protagonist stripped to the bone and dealing head-on with the pain of the past and the violence of the present. The question of how far Reece has strafed from his path as a warrior, husband and man of honour in his need for very personal revenge is answered, and it’s a painful one. But as we move into the final chapter of The Terminal List one final question remains, and that’s whether James Reece’s very soul can now be saved.

The hunter is now the hunted in the latest episode of The Terminal List, ‘Transience’, and time is of the essence as Navy SEAL James Reece (Chris Pratt) finds himself cornered in the California backwoods, with an encroaching force all around him and he has to do everything in his power to stay alive. So you’d better brace yourself for max adrenaline.

The FBI’s manhunt intensifies as they close in on James Reece. Without the medications, Reece’s physical and mental symptoms escalate. Surrounded by law enforcement, a man hellbent on his mission must escape without taking innocent lives.

With each episode of The Terminal List, it feels like we’re getting a show that switches up its genres to keep the audience guessing, and the action moving at speed. So far we’ve seen moments of full-on down-range direct action, a brooding, messy psychological thriller, and intense, chilling moments of pure horror. Now with ‘Transience’, we’re right in the middle of an escape and evasion adventure. It’s a classic pursuit, with the seconds ticking by, and director Sylvain White keeps the audience on edge the whole time. ‘Transience’ is a throwback to the action and intensity of First Blood and John Rambo, a major influence for author Jack Carr, and that force is seen within the episode.

What we find in ‘Transience’ is a broken, beaten and bleeding James Reece outnumbered and on the run in the California backwoods. Seeking shelter from the redwoods where he can, Chris Pratt brings audiences into Reece’s outdoor and survival skills. Using every recourse he can find for his advantage, what we find is a man operating on instinct and his training, and ‘Transience’ is an intense watch. While there are some moments of considerable suspense and action in ‘Transience’, the focus on this episode swings more to the dramatic, with Pratt showing considerable depth as he has to deal with his volatile mind that is fighting against him, and dealing with the echos and ghosts of his past.

With his boots on the ground in ‘Transience’ is FBI Agent Tony Layun (JD Pardo), and he’s going after Reece with no-holds-barred energy. ‘Transience’ is an episode that parallels the actions of Reece and Layun and it’s interesting to see these men go head-to-head with one another. As a now branded criminal insurgent, Reece has nowhere to turn and in a rare moment in the episode, he shares a somewhat ‘face-to-face’ moment with Layun. Here he recollects his life with his family, the intensity of his training as a SEAL through BUD/S and the actions that have led him down this path. There’s considerable emotion present in ‘Transience’, and audiences can see Reece not merely as a warrior, but as a husband and father, and these fractured memories help to humanise him as a character.

If you thought the ending of Episode Five of The Terminal List, ‘Disruption’ was explosive just wait till you see the action of the third act of ‘Transience’ because this episode goes BOOM in a big way. It’s an intense conclusion to this high-stakes chase, and the final moments of this episode are important to the transition and development of this new character of James Reece. Branded as an insurgent, and hunted by the law, Reece proves that he’s still a man of honour bound by the traditions and symbol of his trident and his actions in the final moments of this episode speak to his character and persona.

‘Transience’ makes for a terrific watch for audiences and episode by episode, The Terminal List is proving that it is ‘the show’ to be binged right now. The action is intense, the drama is deep, the narrative twisting and it’s anyone’s guess as to where this series is going to go next. I guess we’ll just need to keep watching.

The Terminal List is currently streaming on Prime Video.
