Lauded filmmaker and visionary genius Denis Villeneuve once again returns to direct this much-anticipated sequel which will bring to life the events of the second half of Frank Herbert’s literary epic. Production on Dune: Part Two was announced via Instagram with the presentation of clapper board.

Filming is underway, with production already having shot at the Brion tomb in Altivole, Italy, principal photography is now moving forward in in Budapest, Hungary.

Along with the return of Villeneuve, Dune: Part Two will also see the return of Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, Stephen McKinley Henderson as Thufir Hawat, Zendaya as Chani, Charlotte Rampling as Gaius Helen Mohiam and Javier Bardem as Stilgar.

New additions to the film include Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, the Emperor’s daughter; Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha, Baron Harkonnen’s younger nephew and planned successor on Arrakis; Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, a Bene Gesserit and close friend of the Emperor and Christopher Walken as Shaddam IV, the Emperor of House Corrino.

It’s an all-star cast, all of whom are at the top of their game right now, and Dune: Part Two will be an epic that will have to be seen on the biggest screen possible. The first film captured the majesty that only the cinema can present and audiences were spellbounded by Villeneuve’s grand vision for this blockbuster cinema event. Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer will also return to compose an entirely new score for Dune: Part Two, while cinematographer Greig Fraser and editor Joe Walker will also retunt to work on the project.

In addition to the announcement of the start of principal photography on Dune: Part Two, Warner Brothers and Legendary pictures have also revealed the official synopsis for the film:

Dune: Part Two will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.

Prepare yourself for an epic beyond your wildest imagination when Dune: Part Two arrives in cinemas next year on November 16, 2023.
