Denis Villeneuve’s Dune saga has defined cinema since the early 2020s, standing as a crowning achievement of modern filmmaking and a powerful reminder of why the theatrical experience still matters. Now, in a surprise reveal, Villeneuve has unveiled the first teaser for Dune: Part Three – an ambitious and emotionally charged final act that promises to be nothing short of awe-inspiring.

Check out the full trailer for Dune: Part Three below:

Drawing from Dune Messiah, the story follows Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), now deified as Muad’Dib and ruling as Padishah Emperor. His holy war has torn across the galaxy, leaving devastation in its wake, and Paul now finds himself encircled by enemies, conspiracies, and the ever-present shadow of death. At the centre of this rising storm is Scytale, a Tleilaxu Face Dancer (Robert Pattinson), whose calculated and deeply personal conspiracy begins to unravel Paul’s fragile grip on power—and sanity.

With Dune: Part Three, Villeneuve leans fully into Herbert’s most provocative ideas: that charismatic leaders are dangerous, that hero worship breeds ruin, and that even the most powerful figures are undone by their own inner flaws. It’s a bold thematic pivot that promises a darker, more introspective conclusion to the saga.

Once again, the scale is staggering. Arrakis returns in all its harsh majesty, while the consequences of Paul’s interstellar jihad echo across a broken universe. The returning ensemble is as formidable as ever, with Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem all reprising their roles. Notably, Jason Momoa returns as Duncan Idaho; reborn as the ghola Hayt, a haunting echo of the warrior once loyal to House Atreides.

New faces further elevate the drama, including Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia Atreides, Paul’s sister; a formidable, almost otherworldly presence of immense psychic power. Opposite her, Pattinson’s Scytale emerges as a cunning and ruthless adversary, one who sees the fatal flaw in Paul’s empire and moves to exploit it.

Dune: Part Three is shaping up to be an immersive, visually spectacular, and emotionally charged finale—one steeped in political intrigue, existential reckoning, and the devastating cost of absolute power. Following the monumental achievements of Dune and Dune: Part Two, this final chapter looks set to close Villeneuve’s epic with seismic force.

The spice must flow, and visionary filmmaker Denis Villeneuve brings an unprecedented vision of science fiction excellence to the big screen as he continues in his adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune, and its second chapter, Dune: Part Two, is an utterly awe-inspiring cinematic masterpiece.

Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) continues his journey, united with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen, as he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family and endeavours to prevent a terrible future that only he can predict.

Denis Villeneuve is a visionary filmmaker who has spent the last twenty-six years perfecting his craft of storytelling. He has explored different genres and redefined their construction, mastering the art of cinematic expression. In 2021, he fulfilled a childhood dream of bringing Dune, Frank Herbert’s influential work of science fiction, to the big screen, resulting in a cinematic masterpiece of immense scope and power. Villeneuve now returns with Dune: Part Two, continuing the epic narrative of a planetary messiah resulting in a pure expression of cinematic art that showcases his unmatched skill as a filmmaker.

In witnessing Dune: Part Two, you are experiencing Villeneuve’s total control over this picture, and he understands its narrative so intimately that nothing is left out of place. Villeneuve has admitted to his long-held passion for the story, and it is as if the images and sounds of this picture have been streamed from his own consciousness up onto the cinema screen. In his articulation of Dune’s story in this second part, the director crafts a film that is much more aggressive in its action and which is tinged with ideas of religious fervour and the acceptance of one’s own destiny. Where the foundation for Dune’s fantastic universe was built in the first picture, the narrative’s story, characters, and consequences are built out to a much greater degree in this second chapter. Every moment invites you further into the sheer beauty of this magnificent story.

Two important contributors to the success of bringing Dune to the big screen are cinematographer Greig Fraser and composer Hans Zimmer, who are both returning for the second chapter. Their contributions to the film’s production broaden its scope and beauty in a whole new direction. Greig Fraser takes his handling of cinematography to a bold new level, resulting in a stunning combination of art and technology. His use of lens, light, colour, and texture is beautiful and crisp, painting with light and shadow. The images are flawless in their composition, and through his eye, you feel as if you could step out onto the sands of Arrakis and literally feel the spice run across your face. Both the haunting desolate landscape of Arrakis and the brutally gothic and repulsive world of Giedi Prime are striking visual images that stand out and demand your attention, and Fraser’s work is masterful. Zimmer’s score elevates the entire experience, extending his work on the first feature to express more emotion and action in the narrative.

A key theme placed in Dune: Part Two is growth, and this word and its feeling are expressed through the film’s central character, Paul Atreides, as he finally enters manhood and accepts his destiny and the consequences that follow it. Timothée Chalamet again returns as Paul, and his performance is far more muscular and purposeful as he has moved beyond boyhood and now stands as a man, the last of his bloodline, ready to reclaim what is his. Now accepted as a revolutionary warlord in the Fremen culture, he becomes known as the mythical Muad’Dib and begins reclaiming Arrakis from the clutches of the Harkkonenn. While action and confrontation are key parts of his performance, Chalamet also allows audiences further into Paul’s complicated mind and the forces that pull him back and forth as he must accept what destiny has bestowed upon him, no matter the cost. Chalamet conveys immense presence within the picture, and he truly holds the audience’s attention as Muad’Dib, an awe-inspiring sight.

Standing as Paul’s conscience in Dune: Part Two is Chani, a native Fremen woman who seeks to liberate her people from the Harkonnen’s oppression and, in the process, becomes Paul’s soulmate. Zendaya portrays Chani to perfection, showcasing her spirited and resourceful character. As Chalamet’s Paul grows and learns the ways of the desert, a natural bond develops between them, deepening as the story unfolds. Their playful chemistry creates some very special moments. Through Chani’s perspective, the audience gains valuable insight into the story’s themes and different shades of Paul. Denis Villeneuve expertly highlights the dangers of religious extremism through Chani’s reactions, making her an essential character in the narrative.

Another key figure cast in Dune: Part Two is the imposing, cunning and dangerous Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the younger nephew of the brutish Baron Vladimir Harkonnen (Stellan Skarsgård), played in a freakish performance by Austin Butler. Butler is a rising force in Hollywood, and he transforms for the role. A hulking psycho who takes pleasure in his sadistic torment of others, Feyd understands the power that is within his grasp, and he’ll do anything to grab it. Butler’s physical and vocal performance leaves him unrecognisable, and he stands as Paul Atreides’s dark shadow in the picture. His swagger and dark charm only add to the danger of his character, and he’s a formidable opponent that Muad’Dib must contend with, and make no mistake, blood will be spilt.

Wrapping everything together is Rebecca Fergusson as Paul’s mother, Lady Jessica, the concubine and widow to Duke Leto Atreides, who undertakes her own journey that fundamentally changes her character and leaves her as a dark and malicious spirit. As a Reverend Mother to the Fremen of Arrakis, Lady Jessica becomes a figure of immense suspicion and fear. She’ll use whatever force of prophecy or religion to secure her son’s position as a messiah and to seek revenge upon the killers of her family. Whenever Fergusson is on screen, you cannot look away, and she completely holds your attention as this sinister, baying presence. Fergusson articulates menace in Jessica’s actions as the Reverend Mother, and her actions guide the consequences of the picture.

From its narrative and character to cinematography and production design, costuming and action set pieces and thumping musical score, Dune: Part Two is utterly mesmerising in its total presentation. It is the result of a whole cast and crew working under Denis Villeneuve’s leadership and participating in complete creative expression. To witness this film is to fully let the power of the cinematic medium rush over you, and in IMAX, it is all-consuming. Villeneuve’s deliberate action to capture Dune: Part Two in the IMAX format elevates the feeling and emotion that audiences will feel with this picture, and as I stated, it feels as if you are stepping into his mind and feeling the very dream of Dune come to life.

Dune: Part Two is a stunning display of cinematic science fiction hallucinogenic brilliance brought to life. It is the product of true passion, and director Denis Villeneuve has pushed the boundaries of how the cinematic arts can express the concepts of pure science fiction. It is a bold, courageous, and beautiful film, and it delivers the answer to the question of why the spice must flow.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune was a monumental achievement of the cinema art form, and audiences are waiting with bated breath for the follow-up to the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), as the young nobleman, castaway on the harsh surface of Arrakis finds his spirit and conviction and leads his newly adopted people into a fight for freedom that will change the very nature of the galaxy in Dune: Part Two. And this newly released trailer is AWESOME!

Watch the brand new trailer for Dune: Part Two here:

Here’s the official synopsis:

The film will explore the continuing journey of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) who is united with Chani (Zendaya) and the Fremen. As he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future that only he can predict.

Building off of the first teaser trailer that was released in May, audiences now have a greater picture of what awaits in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two. Where the genius director laid the groundwork and narrative structure for the saga in his 2021 masterpiece, the action and intensity builds in this second chapter as Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides rises up to become the equally revered and feared Muad’Dib, and leads his people into a holy war.

Villeneuve’s direction is again flawless in the presentation of this picture, and he works in unison with all areas of production as they bring to life a greater area of this vast canvas that is Frank Herbert’s Dune. Cinematographer Greig Fraser again paints in beautiful shades of orange, yellow, mustard and sand and captures the essence of the desert and the feeling that audiences first felt when witnessing David Lean’s classic picture Lawrence of Arabia. The dual use of shadow and light play an integral part in the presentation of this picture, and this trailer is beautiful to witness.

This second trailer also gives audiences an expanded look at the film’s growing cast, which includes the likes of Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler as Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen and Christopher Walken as Shaddam IV, the Emperor of the Universe. Where Pugh’s Irulan is a complex, far-seeing and intuitive character, Butler’s Feyd-Rautha is a calculating and twisting sociopath trained in the gladiator pits of Giedi Prime and who has a thirst for Atreides blood. Christopher Walken has an almost snake-like presence as the devious Emperor Shaddam IV. All these new characters bring a massive weight to this story, and they’ll be an integral part of what builds interest for audiences with this picture.

Dune: Part Two is set to be one of 2023’s most exciting releases, and audiences who are seeking a true blockbuster cinema experience will be awed when it arrives in cinemas on November 2.

Director Denis Villeneuve revs up the intensity and the action as a full-blown war between the Fremen and the Harkonnen erupts on the sands of Arrakis, all set to Hans Zimmer’s burning musical score, and the epic magnitude of this picture is unlike anything audiences have witnessed before in.

What we see in Dune: Part Two is Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) journey into manhood as he embraces the power of destiny and his prophetic destiny to become a Messiah. The drama is immense in Dune: Part Two and with every frame of this new trailer you feel Villeneuve’s intense passion for this epic story being brought into the light.

Dune: Part Two also moves the narrative forward with the introduction of a host of incredible new characters into this story, with tw pivotal characters including the regal Princess Irulan of House Corrino, who is played with grace and cunning by Florence Pugh, along with Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, the heir to the Harkonnen throne and whose twisted mind and psychopathic fighting skills make for an all-together scary performance from Austin Butler, and he’s out for the blood of Paul Atreides.

This second part of the Dune narrative looks to be an incredible powerful piece of cinema and this will be a cinematic experience that demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

2023 has arrived and its shaping up to be an awesome year for film fans and to start the year off we’re running down our ten most anticipated films of 2023.

Check them out below:

10. Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre

We’ve been waiting a long time for Guy Ritchie’s cinematic return and we’re finally on the eve of the release of his long-awaited spy-action-comedy Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre. Re-teaming again with long time collaborator after their masterful work on the intense and driven revenge thriller Wrath of Man, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre will allow the two of them some space to play around with the spy genre and it looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. With a packed-out supporting cast including Aubrey Plaza, Josh Hartnett and Hugh Grant, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre is a film you won’t want to miss out on.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre will arrive in cinemas on January 12, 2023.

9. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Marvel Studios fans will be in for a very big treat this year with some absolutely stellar releases coming our way and one of my most anticipated Marvel releases is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Marvel Studio’s Ant-Man films have long been some of my favourite entries in the MCU and I’m excited to see how director Peyton Reed pushes the envelope with this new entry. My MCU tastes lean more towards the spectacular and the cosmic so I’m incredibly excited to see how we get to explore the Quantum Realm and how the new big bad Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) is about to change the MCU forever!

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will arrive in cinemas on February 17, 2023.

8. Babylon

When it comes to rising auteur cinema voices, one man leading the charge is writer-director Damien Chazelle and he’s about to make the silent movie era loud in Babylon. With a cast including Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, Babylon is shaping up to be one of my must-watch movie events of the year and this film looks sexy, glamourous, seductive, and utterly wild.

Babylon will arrive in cinemas on January 19, 2023.

7. Killers of the Flower Moon

When it comes to cinema legends they don’t come with more talent or respect for the craft of cinema than the legendary Martin Scorsese. And this cinematic visionary is ready to bring an incredible sense of drama with his high-profile historical-dramatic-crime-epic Killers of the Flower Moon. Based on the horrendous true-life murders that occurred in Oklahoma in the early 1920s, Scorsese along with his cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jesse Plemons and Robert DeNiro will no doubt bring about an intense and suspenseful watch, and Killers of the Flower Moon could very well end up being one of 2023’s best releases.

Killers of the Flower Moon will be released on Apple TV+ in 2023.

6. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One

When it comes to Hollywood movie stars they don’t get much bigger than Tom Cruise, and now the king of blockbuster cinema is returning as super spy Ethan Hunt for one hell of a thrill ride with 2023’s must-watch action picture Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. This first chapter in what will be a two-part epic will be the culmination of the Mission: Impossible franchise and Cruise is going all out with this action epic and is pushing the limit when it comes to stunts and action. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is shaping up to be pure cinematic action fun and audiences will be in for a rush when it releases later this year.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will arrive in cinemas on July 13, 2023.

5. John Wick: Chapter 4

Keanu Reeves is back as super-assassin John Wick and he’s ready to bring the wrath to the members of the High Table and bullets and blood will be spent. This fourth entry in what is one of Hollywood’s best new modern franchises continues to turn up the dial on the excitement and intensity of the cinema craft and both Reeves and director Chad Stahelski are ready to bring it with this one.

John Wick: Chapter 4 will arrive in cinemas on March 23, 2023.

4. Barbie

When it comes to 2023 releases one of my standout must-watch films of 2023 is undoubtedly Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. With Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in the lead, this is an absolute must-watch 2023 and the recent teaser trailer certainly got my excitement up for this pastel-coloured extravaganza, which will deliver audiences a serious twist with its narrative. Bight, colourful and packed full of fun, Barbie will get its audience grooving.

Barbie will arrive in cinemas on July 24, 2023.

3. Dune: Part Two

In 2021 visionary filmmaker Denis Villeneuve brought the grandest of science fiction epics to the big screen with Dune. Realising the mighty deserts of the world of Arrakis, Villeneuve is ready once more to transport audiences back to this far-off galaxy as he continues to the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and his journey to becoming the mighty Muad’Dib. With his incredible returning cast including Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem and Stellan Skarsgard, alongside new actors including Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and the legendary Christopher Walken, Dune: Part Two is an epic that will be a must-see big screen event.

Dune: Part Two will arrive in cinemas on November 3, 2023.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3

The penultimate chapter of Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy is set to arrive this year, and I couldn’t be more excited to hang out with my all-time favourite MCU characters. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is shaping up to be an epically fun watch, and James Gunn is once again ready to work his magic on the galaxy’s greatest-ever group of outlaws. From the first teaser, it’s clear that the emotions are going to run high with this one and I can’t wait to hear the playlist and catch the action on this must-watch MCU film.

Guardians of the Guardians Vol.3 will arrive in cinemas on May 5, 2023.

1. Oppenheimer

But when it comes down to it there’s one film that tops my list of must-watch feature films for 2022 and that’s Christopher Nolan’s WWII historical blockbuster epic, Oppenheimer. Bringing to life the genius and terror of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s creation of the atomic bomb and the dawn of the nuclear age, Oppenheimer is Nolan firing on all cylinders and this is shaping up to be a monumental achievement in cinema. Shot exclusively with IMAX cameras, Oppenheimer is a film that audiences will want to see on the biggest screen possible and its epic scale, scope, cast and narrative make this my most anticipated film of 2023.

Oppenheimer will arrive in cinemas on July 21, 2023.
