Now the truth behind the story is about to be brought to the big screen in Mary Shelley which offers a poignant look at the life of the famed author.

A chronicle of the life of writer Mary Wollenstonecroft Godwin’s, better known to history as Mary Shelley, (Elle Fanning) first love, and her romantic relationship with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (Douglas Booth), which is laced with love, lust and turmoil and which inspires her to write Frankenstein.

Director Haifaa al-Mansour directs a cast of bright young things which is lead by Elle Fanning and has her paired with Douglas Booth as her lover Percy Bysshe Shelley and Tom Sturridge as the infamous Lord Byron.

The film appears to crackle with a scintillating sensuality and eroticism and the production design and costuming look especially breathtaking. Mary Shelley also keeps the history of the creation of Frankenstein intact and reveals the story of how the novel came to be from a challenge brought upon by Lord Byron for the creation of a ghost story between the three writers.

Mary Shelley looks like a fascinating watch and it will be released in cinemas on July 5.
