What are heroes if not myths? Stories shaped by time, embellished through generations, and transformed into something greater than the flawed individuals who inspired them.

That question lies at the heart of director Michael Sarnoski’s brooding and deeply affecting The Death of Robin Hood, a daring reimagining of one of history’s most enduring folk legends. There are no Merry Men here. No Sherwood Forest. No romantic adventures with Maid Marian. Instead, Sarnoski strips away centuries of folklore to reveal something far more unsettling: the story of a violent, broken man confronting the consequences of a lifetime of bloodshed.

The result is an absorbing, harrowing, and utterly transcendent piece of cinema.

Gravely wounded and hunted by enemies old and new, an ageing Robin Hood (Hugh Jackman) finds refuge within a remote religious community, where he is nursed back to health by Sister Brigid (Jodie Comer), a compassionate prioress who forces him to confront the darkness of his past.

Michael Sarnoski’s Visionary Reinvention

With Pig, Michael Sarnoski established himself as one of modern cinema’s most thoughtful storytellers, crafting intimate narratives that explore grief, identity, and redemption. He later proved his blockbuster credentials with A Quiet Place: Day One, but with The Death of Robin Hood, he delivers perhaps his most ambitious work yet.

Drawing inspiration from the medieval tale Robin Hood’s Death or Robin Hoode his Death, Sarnoski transports audiences to the rugged Celtic borderlands of 1247 AD and offers a version of Robin Hood unlike any seen before. This Robin is not a noble outlaw fighting injustice. He is a predator, a brigand, and a man haunted by the devastation he has left behind.

What unfolds is less an adventure than a reckoning. Sarnoski uses the legend as a vehicle to explore mortality, guilt, redemption, and the stories humanity creates to soften uncomfortable truths. The film unfolds with a hypnotic intensity that steadily tightens its grip, drawing audiences deeper into its melancholy and moral complexity.

A World Built from Mud, Blood and Faith

One of the film’s greatest achievements is its extraordinary sense of place.

This is not the romanticised medieval England of popular imagination. Instead, Sarnoski and cinematographer Pat Scola immerse viewers in a harsh, rain-soaked world of mud, stone, smoke, and violence. Every frame feels tangible and lived-in, creating an atmosphere that is both brutal and authentic.

The film’s visual language evolves alongside Robin’s journey. The opening chapters are dominated by earthy tones, shadowy forests, and flickering firelight that reflect his savage existence. Later, as the story moves to the Abbey of St Clement, cooler palettes and luminous whites introduce a sense of spiritual possibility and redemption.

Every texture, costume, and location feels handcrafted, reinforcing the emotional weight of the story and grounding its mythic themes in a stark human reality.

Hugh Jackman’s Finest Performance Yet

Modern audiences largely associate Hugh Jackman with heroism. After all, few actors have had a greater impact on contemporary cinematic heroes than his iconic portrayal of Wolverine.

Here, however, Jackman does something entirely different.

Anyone expecting a medieval variation of Logan may be surprised. His Robin Hood is not a weary hero but a deeply flawed and brutal beast of a man whose legend has obscured a lifetime of cruelty. Once a nobleman, Robin has become consumed by greed, violence, and selfish ambition. He robbed indiscriminately, killed without hesitation, and revelled in his own brutality. Now, facing the twilight of his life, he is forced to reckon with the damage he has inflicted.

Jackman delivers a remarkably restrained and introspective performance. Speaking little but communicating volumes through expression and physicality, he appears as a wolf-like presence, haunting and always scanning the horizon with the eyes of a hunter, and the instincts of a predator, but his portrayal leans into a man wrestling with guilt, regret, and the possibility of redemption. As Robin’s relationships, with his charge, Little Margaret, and Sister Brigid deepen, Jackman gradually peels back the armour surrounding his character, revealing unexpected vulnerability beneath decades of violence.

It is a layered, emotionally devastating performance and arguably one of the finest of his career.

Jodie Comer Shines as the Film’s Moral Compass

Counterbalancing Robin’s darkness is Jodie Comer, who is exceptional as Sister Brigid.

While echoes of Maid Marian linger within the character, Brigid is far more than a romantic counterpart. She is a healer, a woman of faith, and one of the few genuinely compassionate figures inhabiting this unforgiving world. Yet she is also burdened by her own secrets and uncertainties.

Comer imbues the role with extraordinary grace and emotional intelligence. There is an almost ethereal quality to her performance, but beneath that serenity lies a powerful inner strength. As Brigid’s beliefs are tested and her connection to Robin deepens, Comer delivers some of the film’s most emotionally charged moments.

Together, she and Jackman create a compelling dynamic that becomes the emotional core of the narrative.

A Visceral and Emotional Experience

The Death of Robin Hood unfolds in two distinct movements.

The first is a brutal descent into chaos, filled with savage violence and primal conflict. Battles are ugly, desperate affairs where bones break, blood spills, and survival comes at a terrible cost. Sarnoski refuses to romanticise violence, presenting it with shocking immediacy and visceral impact.

The second half shifts into a more contemplative register as Robin seeks refuge within the Priory of St Clement. Yet even amid its tranquillity, danger remains ever-present. The threat of violence hangs over every scene, heightening the emotional stakes and driving the story toward its heartbreaking conclusion.

The film’s final act is nothing short of devastating. As questions of legacy, redemption, faith, and myth converge, audiences are likely to find themselves fighting back tears as Robin’s story reaches its inevitable end.

Final Verdict: A Myth Stripped Bare

The Death of Robin Hood is a bold, uncompromising reimagining of one of history’s most celebrated legends. Michael Sarnoski strips away centuries of romanticism to uncover the flawed man beneath the myth, crafting a profound meditation on redemption, mortality, and the stories we tell about ourselves.

Anchored by career-best work from Hugh Jackman and a luminous performance from Jodie Comer, this is a raw, haunting, and deeply moving cinematic experience.

By the time the credits roll, audiences won’t simply have witnessed the death of Robin Hood; they’ll have witnessed the birth of the true legend.

In an utter left-field surprise, The Sheep Detectives has quietly wandered into cinemas and promptly stolen the spotlight. Blending murder mystery, barnyard comedy, heartfelt drama and a few genuine shocks, this is one of the most unexpectedly delightful cinema treats of the year.

In this witty, new breed of mystery, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can’t possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realise they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.

A Murder Mystery with Bite… and Bleat

Adapted from Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann, The Sheep Detectives introduces us to George Hardy (Hugh Jackman), a gentle shepherd who reads detective novels to his flock each night, blissfully assuming they don’t understand a word. He couldn’t be more wrong. When George dies under mysterious, and decidedly sinister, circumstances, his sheep, led by the sharp-witted Lily (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), take it upon themselves to solve the crime. And from there, the hijinks escalate in the best possible way.

An Ensemble That’s Anything But Sheepish

Director Kyle Balda leans fully into the film’s wonderfully bizarre premise, crafting a genre mash-up that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly original. At its centre, Jackman is pitch-perfect as George, a sincere, quietly principled man whose love for his flock gives the story its emotional backbone.

On the human side, Nicholas Braun earns laughs as Tim Derry, the well-meaning but hopelessly out-of-his-depth local policeman, while Molly Gordon adds intrigue as the enigmatic and mysterious Rebecca Hampstead, who shares a very personal connection to George. A late-game cameo from Emma Thompson as razor-tongued lawyer Lydia Harbottle is pure scene-stealing joy, and you’ll be giggling in delight when she pops up.

But make no mistake, the real stars here are the sheep. Louis-Dreyfus leads the flock brilliantly as Lily, bringing spark and determination, while Chris O’Dowd’s Mopple delivers both heart and humour. Patrick Stewart lends Shakespearean gravitas to Sir Richfield, while Regina Hall is gloriously ditzy as Cloud, and Bryan Cranston adds a gruff edge as the lone wolf, well, lone sheep, Sebastian. And yes, the irresistibly adorable Winter Lamb will absolutely melt your heart.

A Whodunnit That Keeps You Guessing

What makes The Sheep Detectives truly sing is its balance. The mystery itself is cleverly constructed, packed with red herrings and twists that keep you guessing right to the final reveal. While mixed into this is a superb dose of comedy that is unexpected, and delivers on the film’s barnyard slant, especially in relation to its livestock characters navigating a very human investigation.

Yet beneath the laughs and the film’s surprising, cheeky tone lies a surprisingly tender core. Themes of connection, loyalty and love run deep in The Sheep Detectives, and there are moments that will utterly melt your heart, bridging the human and animal worlds. By the time the final act rolls around, don’t be surprised if you’re reaching for a tissue.

Final Verdict: A Woolly Whodunnit That Charms, Surprises, and Steals Your Heart

Quirky, original and brimming with heart, The Sheep Detectives is a cinematic gem that delivers on every level. It’s funny, mysterious, deeply felt and utterly unique; proof that sometimes the most unexpected stories leave the biggest impression.

So fortells the tale of The Death of Robin Hood, a brooding, dark and raw rein-visioning of one of myths greatest ever figures as filmmaker Michael Sarnoski reinterprets the legend of Robin Hood not as a noble hero, but instead an unreprentent thief and murderer who by divine intervention is given one last chance at redemption and honour, and what lies ahead, courtesy of A24 Films is one of the most exciting forthcoming releases of 2026.

Watch the brand new teaser trailer for The Death of Robin Hood below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder, Robin Hood (Hugh Jackman) finds himself gravely injured after a battle he thought would be his last. In the hands of a mysterious woman, he is offered a chance at salvation.

Drawing from the legend and history of Robin Hood, particularly the famous ballad, “Robin Hood’s Death”, Sarnoski finds a new path into this legendary figure, and channels his dark and jaded view of the character through the impressive presence and performance of Hollywood A-lister Hugh Jackman.

In what looks to be his best dramatic performance since Les Misérables, Jackman pours all of himself into this broken, battle-scarred rogue and outlaw who finds his wounded body cared for by a mysterious young women (Jodie Comer), and his services as a warrior are called upon to aid a group of orphaned children in an isolated monastery. Jackman delivers an incredible level of emotion and resonace in this footage, and you can feel the intensity and gravitas that is stake, in this, his final mission.

This first look really holds back an semblence of the overall narrative of the piece, and instead just gives audiences a first impression of what awaits in The Death of Robin Hood, dark, brooding and with ideal of secrey, myth, revelation and salvation at its core, audiences who are seeking cinema with bite will be utterly rewarded with this picture, and the story that it seeks to deliver.

Joining Jackman in the picture are two incredible performers with Jodie Comer and Bill Skarsgard, and both make brief appearances in this early footage. While the trailer is yet to shed light on Comer’s mysterious female character who brings the ailing Robin into her care and service, she certainly makes a strong impression in the trailer, while Skarsgard will portray Little John, here a brutish former child soldier and enforcer for Robin’s gang of outlaws, and who is the last of the band of ‘Merry Men’, and who harbours a bitter resentment towards his former master.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In this witty, new breed of mystery, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can’t possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.

Directed by Kyle Balda and adapted from the best selling novel “Three Bags Full” by Leonie Swann, The Sheep Detectives brings together a story of comedy, mystery, detective fiction and plenty of heart, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most entertaining watches of the year.

Hugh Jackman leads an all-star ensemble cast for this on as George, a shepherd who dies under mysterious circumstances, and when it looks like foul play is it hand is loveable flock led by the intrepid Lily (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), decides that it’s time for the sheep to do their own leg work and catch George’s killer redheaded, before more disaster befalls George’s beloved flock.

Joining Jackman and Louis-Dreyfus in the picture includes the likes of Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, Brett Goldstein, and Rhys Darby.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Deadpool has jumped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the Merc With a Mouth is about to tear things up in a full-on, all-out, R-rated action-adventure team-up featuring the legendary Wolverine. Deadpool & Wolverine is everything you could want and more. LFG!

The Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline, pulls Wade Wilson / Deadpool from his quiet life and set him on a mission that will change the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) alongside Wolverine.

Marvel Studios fans have been waiting with bated breath to see what would become of the completely outlandish and over-the-top mercenary anti-hero Deadpool and whether or not he would ever find a home in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Deadpool took pride in being a Rated-R character, and we were often left wondering if we would ever see him in the MCU. Well, after much patience and a whole lot of wish fulfilment, fans the world over now have their wish as Wade Wilson/Deadpool completely gatecrashes the MCU as only he can, and he’s bringing along the X-Men’s gruff loner Logan/Wolverine with him. And the whole experience makes Deadpool & Wolverine an utterly epic cinematic event!

Hollywood megastar Ryan Reynolds has made it his life’s mission to bring Deadpool’s story to the big screen, and so far, he’s succeeded in being a total double shot of Deadpool in 2016’s Deadpool and 2018’s Deadpool 2 to cinemas. Now he’s aiming for a triple winner with Deadpool & Wolverine, and this is the ultimate fanboy/fangirl, wish-fulfilment, comic book movie experience that we’ve been longing for. And it’s AWESOME. Helping Reynolds to shape this crazy feature together is Shawn Levy, a frequent collaborator and long-time friend of the star, and the two bring a boundless sense of energy and totally unfiltered creativity to the picture that ramps up the excitement minute-by-minute. Levy’s working relationship with both Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, two former collaborators, allows him to let each actor play to their strengths, both dramatically and comedically, and the result leads to a very special watch.

The prospect of seeing Ryan Reynolds return for a third Deadpool movie is incredibly exciting, and being teamed up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine only adds to his energetic sense of fun. Bringing Deadpool into the MCU is a big step for Reynolds, and he has a lot of fun playing around with the literal concept of Marvel as a brand, while his ad-libs will leave you in hysterics. And there are many of them. Clad in his form-fitting red costume and spinning his swords with glee, Deadpool goes for it this time. And it’s a literal universe-saving mission for this character. While he’s a completely anarchic and wild character, Deadpool & Wolverine leaves him with a ‘literal’ world-saving mission, and for the first time, we see him get serious as a character. Deadpool & Wolverine gives Reynolds a real about-face turn to play as the Merc with the Mouth, and there’s a whole heap of dramatic tension and character development movements that make his third outing as the character that much more memorable.

We never thought we’d see it, but Hugh Jackman has decided to bring out the claws for another outing as the X-Men’s resident berserker, Wolverine. And it’s a performance unlike you’ve ever seen him give before. After the heart-wrenching performance of Logan, we thought that was the final curtain call for Jackman’s Wolverine. But leave it to Deadpool to find a new way to gift us with the ultimate superhero buddy-comedy and Jackman’s back in a completely new direction with his career-defining character. This version of Logan is a washed-up, burnt-out, and totally fucked-up former X-Men, whose the world’s biggest loser and is content just to drink his immortality away. But cue an encounter with Deadpool, and the claws come out, and these two get into a hell of scrap that eventually forms a partnership that might just be able to save Wade’s world after all. Jackman gives audiences his most comic book-accurate performance of Wolverine to date, and you’ll cheer in amazement when he pulls out the quintessential 1990s yellow and blue suit and goes to town in a pure berserker rage. Jackman goes for it one last time as Wolverine (or is it?) and finds a new dimension to the character that will leave audiences whooping and hollering.

Both Deadpool and Wolverine get put through the wringer in Deadpool & Wolverine, and they face off with one of the creepiest MCU villains yet in the form of totally unhinged telepath Cassandra Nova. Bringing Cassandra, the twin sister and dark shadow to Professor Charles Xavier, is Emma Corrin, and they totally bring it as this psychotic and petulant villain. Filled with deranged narcissism and deviously manipulative, Cassandra is a villain who seers her presence into the audience’s minds, and she puts Wade and Logan through a grinder of pain. Corrin’s performance reminds us of characters similar to Hans Landa and Angelica Pickles, and this gleeful sadism that they inject into the role of Cassandra will keep audiences on edge and give Deadpool & Wolverine a different set of world-ending stakes than audiences are used to.

Deadpool & Wolverine is an MCU event unlike anything we’ve seen before, and it completely stands out as an original and highly creative piece of entertainment. From its hard R rating, sensational comedy and fourth wall breaks, and self-referential narrative musings, it’s an utterly wild ride that builds minute by minute, and this is a cinematic experience that needs to be seen on a big screen as part of the movie-going collective. Watching this with others in a cinema leaves you filled with the collective energy and excitement that only a Marvel Studios film can bring, and with all of its twists, turns and surprises, Deadpool & Wolverine is a picture of superhero action-comedy overlord.

While not wanting to fall into SPOILER territory, I will say that Deadpool & Wolverine is pure Marvel Comics fan service with everything you could want. Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy present a film that is a tribute to and a celebration of the superhero movie and the world of Marvel Comics. There are so many incredible surprises in this one that will leave you wide-eyed with amazement. While staying away from narrative-specific lot points, I will say that mutants have made their debut in the MCU, and they’re here to stay!

Deadpool & Wolverine is everything you could want and more, and thanks to its creative narrative, ultraviolent action, whimsical humour and crazy energy, it’s a cinematic experience that MCU-mutant-fan joy that only these two characters can bring.

Jason Reitman is a director who always commands your attention and as a filmmaker he is not afraid to stretch himself as an artist and try his hands at different genres and subject matter. With The Front Runner the director takes us back in time and charts the fall of one man’s dreams and documents just how savage and powerful modern media can be.

American Senator Gary Hart (Hugh Jackman) is loved by all and is running for office in the 1988 presidential campaign, until it suddenly is derailed when it is revealed that he is caught up in a scandalous love affair.

In documenting the much-publicized rise and fall of Senator Gary Hart (Jackman), Reitman presents his audience with a fascinating story of kinetic politics in action and how a rapidly evolving country and technology changed the course of American history forever. Shot with a real matter of fact quality, The Front Runner plays out in a style that I can only describe as real-time as the groovy, handsome and charming Democratic nominee Gary Hart makes his bid for The White House before an all-together more interesting story takes hold. With The Front Runner, Reitman really puts Senator Hart and his sordid affair under the microscope and the film captures this pulse-pounding narrative which begins to move rapidly as Senator Hart’s campaign unravels.

Hugh Jackman really takes a step into left field here and I’d happen to say that Gary Hart is the most intense portrayal of any character that the actor has commanded. For Jackman, the emphasis is on a literal political minefield as his troubled personal life begins to leak out to the press and this upstanding political figure begins to be mercilessly cut down. With Jackman, we see the shining veneer fall away very quickly and the jackals quickly rise to the surface. While modern audiences are used to frayed politicians, you have to watch this in the context of the film’s 1988 setting as you come to terms with the fact that Jackman’s Hart is experiencing the first ever media storm and has no way to navigate it. The actor is definitely at his most vulnerable here and it becomes somewhat harrowing as we see him fall deeper into the abyss as he forgets that his personal life is now free for public consumption and he just doesn’t seem to fathom why it should be so.

While Jackman may be the focal point of The Front Runner, the other key character is the collective modern media and Reitman really focuses in on the presence of this unstoppable force. Relating back to the film’s time setting of 1988, we are slowly beginning to see the build-up of a collective 24-hour news cycle that never stops and it creates a beast that can never be satisfied. Seeking out the juiciest, meatiest stories of all, when Hart’s liaisons do rise to the surface the media jump upon it and it’s all out war on Hart and his lapsed morality. Reitman does a great job of linking together the idea of the media and the changing power structures in American society and the way he captures their collective presence really leads you to brace the edge of your seat on multiple occasions throughout the film.

Along with its rapid-fire narrative and examination of America’s collective power of a growing media nation, The Front Runner also examines the idea of morality and how it plays out in political life. While a politician’s policies and ideas related to how they want to govern should always be at the forefront of our minds, it very often does not come down to that and more often than not leads to a place where it’s how popular the candidate is and whether or not we actually like them and how ‘good’ of a person we feel them to be. That’s exactly where Jackman’s Hart finds himself in this movie and Reitman’s examination of this central theme is very interesting to watch as it unfolds before us.

The Front Runner is a clever and compelling politically-charged drama that races forward with a quick pace and captivating performance from its lead star. If you’re looking for a piece of cinema that will really challenge you on an intellectual level than you need to check this one out.

Hugh Jackman lets his voice be heard as P.T. Barnum in his brand new larger than life historical musical The Greatest Showman.

The first trailer has been released, and it is truly colourful and astounding. Check it out below:

Here’s the synopsis:

Following an unsuccessful career as a banker, Phineas Taylor Barnum (Hugh Jackman) takes a chance on his passions and creates the world’s most elaborate circus act, The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

The Greatest Showman has long been Jackman’s passion project and he has nurtured the film from script to screen for the past seven years. Alongside director Michael Gracey, Jackman is promising audiences a lavish visual spectacle that will recall the grand musicals of the 1930s and 1940s and will once again allow him to unleash his voice just as he did back in 2012’s Les Misérables.

Joining Jackman in the film is a very talented supporting cast including Zac Efron as Barnum’s assistant Phillip Carlyle, Rebecca Ferguson as famed opera singer Jenny Lind, Zendaya as trapeze artist Anne Wheeler and Michelle Williams as Barnum’s wife Charity.

The Greatest Showman is a cinematic spectacle that audiences won’t soon forget so prepare to run away to the circus on December 25 in the US and UK and on December 26 in New Zealand and Australia.

The brand new redband trailer for James Mangold’s Logan is here, and it pulsates with a level of aggressive energy and old school anti-hero swagger that fans are going to eat up.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the near future, a weary Logan (Hugh Jackman) cares for the ailing Professor X (Sir Patrick Stewart) and is burdened by his failings as a member of the mythical X-Men. But when a strange and feral child comes seeking his help he is snapped back into action and prepares for the biggest fight of his life.

There are so many things that we’re loving about the new Logan trailer, but it’s definitely Dafne Keen’s performance as Laura Kinney aka X-23, that captured our attention this time. This totally unpredictable child is one angry young girl, and dishes out plenty of carnage thanks to her own set of claws. This of course leaves Hugh Jackman’s gruff loner in a predicament, as he has to find some way to curtail her anger, and for the first time in his life appears to be excepting a greater level of responsibility as a father figure.

While there’s plenty of rough slice and dice action, including an epic tag team fight between Logan and Laura and the mercenary Reavers, what really got me with the new trailer is the focus on family, and above all else, love. While we were always bound to get plenty of visceral action, it’s Jackman’s journey from a failed hero to protective father figure that appears to be driving this story. It is a clearly vulnerable performance for Jackman, and this final fight is going to affect audiences.

In addition to a terrific narrative, action and setting, Mangold has also filled Logan with some great in-jokes, including a reference to the X-Men’s adventures in ‘comic books’, along with plying the film with a range of unique characters such as Boyd Holbrook’s sly android mercenary Donald Pierce, who comes with a spot on southern drawl, and plenty of ill intent.

Prepare to witness Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine like you’ve never seen him before in this his final walk as the legendary anti-hero character. Logan is set to be released on March 2 in New Zealand and Australia and on March 3 in the US and UK.

After more than sixteen years of service to the comic movie community, Hugh Jackman is hanging up the claws as iconic X-Men character Wolverine, and if the new trailer for Logan is anything to go by, he’ll be going out in a big way.

Here’s the synopsis:

In 2024 nearly all of mutant kind has been wiped out. Only Logan and Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) have survived the great purge at the hands of a sinister corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex. With Logan’s powers beginning to fade, and Professor Xavier affected by worsening Alzheimers, Logan must make one final stand against Essex, and in doing so protect a young girl who is the key to his future.

The re-teaming of Jackman and director James Mangold provides great cause for celebration, and as soon as the trailer opens you’ll be gripped by its complete authenticity. Set to Johnny Cash’s rousing rendition of ‘Hurt’ Logan presents a post-apocalypse western of epic proportions. Jackman is grizzled and appears to have had the life beaten out of him by both man and time. But when the action kicks off the claws come out, proving Logan is not a man to be messed with.

While Mangold has drawn from the Old Man Logan graphic novel by Mark Miller and Steve McNiven, he also appears to be doing his own thing as well. There are great thematic allusions to classic western films and samurai movies here, and they’re a perfect fit for the character.

Boyd Holbrook also puts in a nasty appearance as Donald Pierce, a mean, tattooed mercenary and leader of the Reavers, while newcomer Dafne Keen intrigues as Laura Kinney, a young girl who needs to be protected by Logan and Xavier from the Essex Corporation. Although his casting has not been revealed, producer Bryan Singer has confirmed that infamous X-Men villain Nathaniel Essex aka Mr. Sinister will also make an appearance in the film.

Logan will be released on March 2, 2017 in New Zealand and Australia and on March 3, 2017 in the US and UK.
