‘By The Power of Grayskull….’

With fanfare and excitememnt the first teaser trailer for Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures’ Masters of the Universe has arrived, and it delivers on the full-on pop culture experience and epic blockbuster scale of the classic Mattel property as Prince Adam once again returns to hold aloft the Sword of Power, and fight to reclaim the lands of Eternia… and this is going to be an gigantic cinema experience.

Check out the brand new trailer for Masters of the Universe below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Fleeing a devastating civil war, ten-year-old Prince Adam Glenn (Nicholas Galitzine) is spirited away to his mother’s home planet Earth, separating him from his ancestor’s Sword of Power. Twenty years later, a now-adult Adam must return to the planet of Eternia and rediscover his lost birthright, becoming the mighty hero He-Man and leading the few remaining warriors of Eternia against the evil forces of Skeletor (Jared Leto).

After multiple decades of developments, many a fan’s dream was made true today with the arrival of an all-new look and feel Masters of the Universe, and celebrated filmmaker Travis Knight (Bumblebee) appears to have delivered on the scale, fun and grandeur of the classic 1980s action-figure, cartoon property, and Masters of the Universe appears to be shaping up to be one of 2026’s most intriguing releases.

Almost operatic in the scale and level of its science-fiction fantasy setting, Knight has perfectly rendered the world of He-Man and Eternia into life, and every part of this trailer and its bold storytelling popped on screen. The action is full-on, the locations are grand, and the energy is crackling, and audiences will completely fall into it all.

Not only do we get to see a good bit of footage on display here, but we finally get to witness Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam Glenn, along with his inevitable transformation into the god-like He-Man, and he’s utterly crushing it in the role. Displaying both a vulnerability and cheeky comedic side, Galitzine then suddenly shifts it up as he screams, ‘I HAVE THE POWER’ and transforms into the mighty He-Man. Utterly yoked, Galitzine jumps headfirst into the action, and he’s really about to step into the A-list with this role.

We also have to give it up to the stacked supporting cast that includes the likes of Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Professor Evelyn Powers/Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena Glenn, Sir Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, and Jared Leto as Skeletor! And all we can say is bring it on!

If you’re after maximum chaos, explosions galore, and a whole lot of hammed-up hilarity, then Heads of State is the kind of big-screen adrenaline rush you’ve been waiting for. This all-out, over-the-top action-comedy smashes politics and pure popcorn entertainment together in one glorious, guns-blazing, laugh-a-minute spectacle that puts Idris Elba and John Cena front and centre… and then blows everything around them sky high.

In the action-comedy Heads of State, the UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke (Idris Elba) and U.S. President Will Derringer (John Cena) have a not-so-friendly and very public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries’ “special relationship.” But when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary—who proves more than a match for the two leaders’ security forces—they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other. Ultimately allied with the brilliant MI6 agent Noel Bisset (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), they must go on the run and find a way to work together long enough to thwart a global conspiracy that threatens the entire free world.

From the moment the opening credits roll, it’s clear Heads of State knows exactly what kind of film it wants to be – a go-hard-or-go-home thrill ride that plays to every spy-action and buddy-comedy cliché in the book… and relishes it. Directed with a devil-may-care attitude and stuffed with outrageous set pieces, it’s as if The Expendables had a love child with Veep – and we’re all the better for it.

Idris Elba once again brings the cool as former SAS badass turned UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke – suave, serious, and with just enough emotional repression to make things complicated. Elba leans into the straight-man role with precision, but what makes him shine here is how much fun he has once the chaos kicks in. Whether dodging bullets, jumping out of planes, or fending off assassins in a tailored Tom Ford suit, Elba is in full action-hero mode and looks damn good doing it.

Then there’s John Cena, who cranks the comedy dial up to 11 as President Will Derringer, a former B-movie action star who somehow bumbled his way into the White House. Cena is all ego and zero filter – a walking meme of American bravado who’d rather pose for selfies than handle diplomacy. But when the world needs saving, this himbo-in-chief has to man up, and Cena’s transformation from clueless goofball to unlikely hero is both hilarious and surprisingly endearing. His chemistry with Elba is pitch-perfect, and their bickering bromance powers the film’s best moments.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas adds the sleek danger as Noel Bisset, a former MI6 agent with ties to Clarke and a serious knack for high-impact takedowns. She brings the heat and the grit, smashing bad guys into the pavement and lighting up every action sequence she’s in. There’s real electricity between her and Elba, and when the trio hits the road together, the sparks – and bullets – fly.

As for the action? It’s bananas. Whether it’s a fistfight on Air Force One, a slow-motion shootout in a crumbling apartment building, or a turbo-charged firetruck chase through the streets of Rome set to Mötley Crüe’s ‘Kickstart My Heart’, Heads of State goes hard. Jack Quaid also shows up as the psychotic Agent Comer, laying waste to everything in sight like he’s in Call of Duty, and it’s pure bloody mayhem.

Heads of State doesn’t try to be smart or sophisticated. It knows it’s ridiculous – and that’s the point. This is balls-to-the-wall action-comedy at its most unhinged, with larger-than-life stars doing what they do best and having an absolute blast doing it. If you want fun, firepower, and full-throttle entertainment, Heads of State delivers. And then some.

Australian filmmaker George Miller is a storytelling genius who continually brings a new scale to the construct of imagination every time he steps behind the camera. Now he applies to talents to the enchanting, dream-like, modern-day fantasy fairytale of Three Thousand Years of Longing, and it is exquisite to watch.

A lonely scholar, on a trip to Istanbul, discovers a Djinn who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom.

As one of the most gifted and imaginative filmmakers of the art of cinema, Australia’s Goerge Miller stands out. Ever since the late 1970s, he’s been pushing the medium of film into bold and ambitious new directions, and following his work on monumental action achievement Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller sets himself a new challenge with a fantastical new genre. Diving head first into the realm of fantasy with his adaptation of A. S. Byatt’s short story The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye, Three Thousand Years of Longing is a strikingly bold and richly painted piece of visual narrative storytelling that beckons its audience inwards. Examining themes of story, love, and time, and presented in the most striking way possible, Miller’s vision for this film is like that of a waking dream that completely sweeps up its audience into its fantastical narrative.

Told through the meeting of two unlikely characters, a world-weary Djinn (Idris Elba) who is possessed of all the power in the universe, but who has suffered through terrible tragedy and loneliness due to his abilities, and uptight University professor Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton), Miller explores three thousand years of fantasy, myth and legend and brings to life a breathtaking and lavish love story. Turning the cinema screen into a literal canvas, Miller paints with broad and bright strokes, and the visuals of this film will leave audiences in awe. From the beauty of the Queen of Sheba to the fury of Ottoman warlords to the tragic love of a lost genius, Three Thousand Years of Longing is a vivid piece of cinema and it is a picture that will cause your senses to catch on fire.

Stepping into the otherworldly role of The Djinn is noted Hollywood megastar Idris Elba and this character, and Miller’s story, offers the actor a significant new challenge to play with. With the control of the universe in his hand, The Djinn brings a fascinating frame of perspective and thoughtful intelligence to the story. Played with a sense of weariness and heartache by Elba, The Djinn makes for a very interesting character in whose eyes we get to see the world, and Elba is completely transformative in the role. Transformed through prosthetics of blue scales and gold skin, The Djinn is one of the most visually striking characters we’ve ever seen Elba portray, and he buries himself deep into this fantastical character and this devotion helps to realise the story more vividly.

Starring opposite Elba is noted thespian Tilda Swinton as Dr Alithea Binnie, a noted scholar and narratologist who specialises in the study of story and its meaning that contributes to culture and our understanding of the greater universe. An uptight, slightly pompous character, Alithea is at first distrusting of The Djinn thanks to her learned background, but as this story develops, love blossoms and her world is turned upside down. Swinton is a great reflection of Elba in Three Thousand Years of Longing, and her juxtaposing character adds to the exploration of the film’s fantastical narrative.

Three Thousand Years of Longing is a truly spectacular piece of visual cinema and its vast narrative is sure to take audiences on an exotic adventure, along with giving clarity to the power of narrative and the importance of why we need stories. It’s a film you won’t soon forget, and demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible.

Hollywood megastar Idris Elba steps away from the glamour and charts his way out into the kill-or-be-killed wilderness of the African savannah in the tension-laced Beast. And this story of man vs wild will make you jump out of your seat with fright.

Recently widowed Dr. Nate Daniels (Idris Elba) and his two teenage daughters travel to a South African game reserve managed by Martin Battles, an old family friend and wildlife biologist. However, what begins as a journey of healing soon turns into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of bloodthirsty poachers, begins stalking them.

Noted Icelandic actor and filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur has become known for his unique talents as a director for moments of intense action and awe-inspiring tales of survival. Now his attention finds another thrilling canvas to be realised upon in Beast. Best described as a simple story of man vs wild, with everything stripped away except the will to survive, Beast is an exercise in tension, dread and fear. Its 93 minutes of screen time will leave you squirming in your seat as Kormákur plays with your emotions and spikes your adrenaline levels.

Flung directly into the middle of Beast’s impressive scares is Hollywood A-lister Idris Elba. Elba lets go of all the glamour of Tinseltown and jumps headfirst into the blood and muck of the jungle as he squares off against a man-eating lion. Elba’s character of Dr Nate Daniels, a widowed doctor with two teenage children from who he is estranged leaves him as a very flawed character. And when things go to hell courtesy of a wild and ferocious predator who has a taste for human blood Elba steps up big time as Dr Daniels. And it all comes down to the will to survive. With the clock ticking and time and resources running out, Elba has to confront the darkness head on, and Beast takes a turn into sheer tension as he has to contend with an environment that literally wants to eat him alive.

In terms of a sheer action experience, Beast nails the approach right from the start. Finding themselves lost on the safari from hell, Elba’s Dr Nate Daniels and his children are soon the prey in a deadly stalking game and the ferocity of this untamed wild lion will spike your adrenal glands. With an almost documentary-kinetic filmmaking style, Kormákur and his team place their audience right in the heart of the terror, and the attention to detail and rendering of this bloodthirsty lion will make you jump. The exotic sounds of the jungle also hype up the anxiety of the moment, and Kormákur’s unique pacing teases out the suspense of the story.

One thing Beast does right is that it continues to throw hurdles and challenges at Elba’s Dr Daniels, while also having him fight with the emotional pain of his past. He’s a man who’s made bad choices in his life, and his fight in this life-or-death situation is almost a way of him trying to atone for these past mistakes. This mix of drama and action keeps the film’s beats exciting, and moment by moment the hunt continues. Whenever you think Dr Daniels has finally made it to safety the lion returns, and this leads to one bloody and raucous final act that gives new meaning to the phrase ‘rip-roaring action’.

If you’re thinking you might be in need of a safari getaway, Beast might make you think again. This film is an unstoppable rush of action, and it will have you on edge from beginning to end in the fight between man and beast.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are ready to hit the adrenaline switch again and in the new trailer for Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw they really dial everything up to 100!

Watch the action packed new trailer below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down. But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves. Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast universe as it hurtles action across the globe, from Los Angeles to London and from the toxic wasteland of Chernobyl to the lush beauty of Samoa.

With each new installment the Fast & Furious franchise gets bigger and bolder, and this brand-new spinoff installment is really going to bring the boom. Director David Lietch (Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde) really stacks the action up here and the result is something truly wild. Not only do we have ultimate law man Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and badass outlaw spy Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) working together this time, but this is a film that is truly going international with it’s cast and setting.

First off there’s fearless MI6 operative Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby), who pulls brother Deckard and Hobbs into the fight against their most dangerous adversary yet, the genetically enhanced super criminal Brixton played by a jacked Idris Elba. And damn do things get explosive here thanks to this bad guys plan for world domination!

With their backs up against the wall, these heroes have only one place to go and that’s home. For Hobbs this means a return trip to Samoa where he join forces with his brothers (Cliff Curtis, Roman Reigns, Josh Mauga, John Tui) and together the Hobbs family and the Shaw family brace for one hell of a last stand that will decide the fate of the world.

Hobbs & Shaw is definitely big on action and it’s getting crazy here with plenty of ultra-macho car chases, along with Hobbs deciding to play tug of war with semi-trucks and an Apache attack helicopter! That’s right the action is gonna be big and this footage absolutely gets your adrenaline up.

Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw is gonna be one hell of a fun time at the movies when it arrives in theatres on August 1.

Jessica Chastain goes all in with Aaron Sorkin’s snappy and fast-paced true life poker drama Molly’s Game which chronicles the life of one incredible woman.

Trained to be a competitive Olympic skier her whole life, Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain) finds her dream cut short by a very unlucky twist of fate. Suddenly with her life spun around Molly moves to Los Angeles and is introduced to the world of high-stakes, closed-door underground poker. Throwing herself into this new world she soon learns how the system works and soon starts up her own very glamorous game. Her hard work soon leads to great wealth and success, along with some very shady connections with a host of dangerous mafioso types. Finding herself caught up in a media and legal firestorm Molly will have to use all her wits to survive.

Molly’s Game is simply one of the best films you’ll see all year. There’s no other way to put it. Writer/director Aaron Sorkin makes his debut behind the camera and he really knows how to shoot a movie. In addition to his cracking dialogue and vast understanding of character Sorkin crafts a beautifully polished narrative that really takes Molly, and the audience, for one hell of a ride. From the seedy backroom bars of Los Angeles to the height of sophistication and glamour of New York Molly Bloom lived one hell of a life. Sorkin captures all of it, and his use of lighting, cinematography, costuming and location helps to bring Molly’s incredible world together.

Jessica Chastain is on fire as Molly Bloom! The lauded actress jumps head-first into a very difficult role which is marked by fierce competition and a commitment to excellence. As Bloom Chastain is smart, cunning, sharp, fierce and absolutely uncompromising. This is a woman who will not stop until she achieves her goal and this applies to her both building her own poker empire, and fighting to clear her name in court. Chastain channels Molly’s rebel entrepreneurship perfectly and she definitely is willing to go to some uncomfortable places as the character, as Molly earns a few scrapes along the way.

My favourite part of Chastain’s performance is how she channel’s Molly’s ability to never become a victim. While this is a woman who is adept at winning she’s also faced some intense hardships in her life and knows what it’s like to lose. But through all of that she’s never one to be a declared a victim. Molly’s a fighter and even in her most dire situation she won’t back down or let anyone get one over on her. It’s an inspired performance from Chastain and her bravery to take on any challenge will fill you up with a fire to do the same.

Standing next to Chastain in Molly’s Game is the very suave Idris Elba as her defence attorney Charlie Jaffe. Kitted out in perfectly tailored suits, and all around class, Charlie is a man who’s just as smart as Molly and won’t be a party to her games or cunning. He’s very much her equal and is ready to call her on her mistakes and the laws that she may have broken. But while Idris makes for a very sharp shooter he also admires Molly’s integrity and work ethic and takes her on as a client.

Chastain and Elba make a great pair together on screen. They’re two performers who are at the top of their game and they really complement each other perfectly on screen. Their back and forth arguments over the truth are incredibly vivid, and when they do decide to fight together to clear Molly’s name you’re certain that they will win.

While Molly’s Game might be a serious award contender it’s also an incredibly entertaining film. They say truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and this definitely applies to Molly’s Game and that’s why it’s so exciting. The narrative is sharp, the characters are strong and you never know what’s going to happen next, just like the best games of Texas hold’em. And did I mention that you’ll get a masters in poker by the end of the movie? Yep, Sorkin vividly breaks down the game and really makes you feel the excitement and adrenaline when a big hand is shown up on screen. These games are some of the most intense moments in the film and they really get you going.

Molly’s Game is by far one of the most entertaining films I’ve seen in a long time and it makes for very exciting viewing. I highly recommend that you go and see it immediately, and afterwards you’ll learn why you should go all in, bet large and never fold.

Nothing can stop Jessica Chastain’s peak performance in Hollywood and now she’s teamed with genius screenwriter turned director Aaron Sorkin for what will undoubtedly be one this year’s slickest films in Molly’s Game.

A new trailer has been released and is packed out with quick wit, crackling dialogue and one hell of a performance from Chastain. Check it out below:

Based on the life of Molly Bloom, a former Olympian who used her entrepreneurial genius to start the world’s most decadent underground poker club that had a list of clients that included high flying businessmen, Hollywood actors and unscrupulous gangsters. Molly’s activities would ultimately lead her into trouble with the Russian mafia, and to her arrest at the hands at the FBI that set the stage for one of the most sensational trials ever seen in the United States.

In addition to the talents of Chastain and Sorkin, debonair performer Idris Elba is also part of the cast and takes on the role of Molly’s attorney Charlie Jaffey who can’t believe the story that is taking place in front of him.

Packed out with intense drama and sensational style, Molly’s Game is essential viewing and will be released in cinemas later this year.

Jessica Chastain is one of the best and most in-demand actresses working in Hollywood today, and her new film Molly’s Game is one slick biographical thriller of a talented young woman who took the poker community by storm.

Based on the true-life of Molly Bloom, a former Olympian, who after falling on hard times started up the world’s most exclusive, and clandestine poker game in the world. Molly’s talents and flair for spectacle drew the presence of big money and she was soon rolling in the cash. But then the FBI came knocking and she found herself in one of the most sensational court cases in U.S. history.

Chastain absolutely nails the role of the sharply tuned Molly and knows every single angle of her world famous and extraordinarily wealthy clientele. Then there’s Idris Elba as her attorney Charlie Jaffey, who while fighting to acquit her of the charges that have been brought against her cannot help but be impressed by what she has achieved.

One of coolest parts of Molly’s Game is that it is the directorial debut of celebrated screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Moneyball, The West Wing, A Few Good Men) and audiences can expect plenty of slick dialogue here.

Molly’s Game will be released on November 23.

After they receive a cryptic distress call from within a distant nebula, the Enterprise and its crew set out to investigate. But what awaits them is alien despot Krall (Idris Elba) and his limitless army, who after destroying their ship leaves them stranded on a mysterious alien world. Alone and outnumbered, James Kirk (Chris Pine) and his crew must rally all of their inner strength and ingenuity to get back to Starfleet and stop Krall from realising his plan to destroy the federation.

Following in the path of 2009’s Star Trek and 2013’s Star Trek Into Darkness, director and lifelong Trek fan Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 6) has stepped up to take the Enterprise and its crew in a bold new direction. Where previously Abrams set the majority of his story within the shiny chrome interior of the Enterprise, Lin literally does away with the grand vessel and throws his characters into the unknown of a strange new alien world. It’s a plot device that he picks up directly from the original series, and which gives this film a new sense of direction and energy. This ‘escape and evasion’ storytelling has a real nostalgic feel to it, and is a grand way to keep audiences guessing as the action picks up speed.

Lin also pulls back the focus of the movie from the usual trinity of Kirk (Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto) and Uhora (Zoe Saldana), and showcases more action from the perspective of its supporting cast including Simon Pegg’s Montgomery Scott and Karl Urban’s Dr. Leonard ‘Bones’ McCoy. This greater character canvas results in a deeper and more involved story for audiences, as well as some unexpected character moments, especially from Urban who steals the movie with his pithy one-liners. Newcomer Sofia Boutella is a great new addition to the franchise and conveys an alien rock chick charisma as Jaylah, a mysterious alien with a connection to Krall, and whose ‘bad girl’ antics make her a much-needed ally to the crew of the Enterprise in this their most desperate hour.

A movie is nothing without its bad guy though and Star Trek Beyond gets a worthy one with Idris Elba’s alien warlord Krall. This blue-skinned, reptilian beast is the walking embodiment of hate and vengeance, and he certainly gives Kirk a run for his money. Idris really disappears into this vindictive character through the use of some amazing prosthetics which add to the character’s menace. It’s a different side of Elba than we’ve seen before, and after this I’m thoroughly keen to see him embrace his villainous side in further roles.

Audiences familiar with Star Trek will also be aware that the Trek family suffered some absolutely heartbreaking tragedies recently with the passing of Trek legend Leonard Nimoy and the shocking sudden death of young star Anton Yelchin. While both of these losses were heavy blows for the cast and crew they do their utmost to honour them in the most sincere and loving way. Yelchin is absolutely animated on screen as plucky young comms officer Chekov, and from all accounts you’re certain that he had a ball with this role, which like the other supporting characters, gave him a wealth of screen time, and some genuinely cool moments.

Paramount Pictures has just released a bold new trailer for Star Trek Beyond, which capitalises on the dangers that await the crew of the USS Enterprise.

After reaching Starbase Earhart on the edge of Federation space, the crew of the USS Enterprise is suddenly ambushed in a vicious attack, and left for dead. Stranded on an unknown alien planet and split up from one another, they find themselves combating a power hungry new villain who knows everything about them, and who will stop at nothing to destroy the Federation.

The trailer sure stirs plenty of emotions, especially in relation to James T. Kirk’s (Chris Pine) symbolic destiny to his father George Kirk (Chris Hemsworth), and their positions as Starfleet captains. It also introduces us to Idris Elba’s hulking new villain Krall, who has little regard for the concept of mercy, and is ready to take the Enterprise down. Director Justin Lin appears to have a handle on the frenzied action of Beyond, while also devoting significant time to character development as the crew of the Enterprise face this brand new threat.

Trek fans will be lining up for this epic third chapter when Star Trek Beyond makes its way into theatres in Australia and NZ on July 21 and in the US and UK on July 22.
