It’s a day many have long waited for, and now we have our first look and much hyped, and long hoped for sequel to the cult romantic fantasy film Practical Magic has now arrived, and this new chapter of the Owens Sisters’ promises witchcraft, wonder and whimsy in all its glory in Practical Magic 2.

Watch the all-new teaser trailer below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set twenty-five years after the events of the first film, the story follows the Owens family as they face a new crisis when a discovery regarding the family’s history and the origins of their magic comes to light. When Sally’s daughter (Joey King) begins to uncover hidden family secrets and develops her own dark abilities, the family is plunged into a multi-generational struggle to finally break the curse that has haunted their lineage for centuries. The Owens women (Sally, Gillian, and their aunts) must once again unite, traveling from their home in Massachusetts to the United Kingdom to confront the source of their magic and save the next generation of their family.

Ever since it was first announced that Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman would be returning as Sally and Gillian Owens, the internet has been a storm of intrigue and desire as to what this new chapter of these decidedly feminine new chapter might look like for them, and now with Practical Magic 2 we get a new look at a journey that will take tham back to the origins of their powers, and adventure, suspense and a dash of romance is sure to be expected.

Prime Video has just unleashed the first-look images for Scarpetta, and trust us, crime thriller fans are about to have their pulses sent skyrocketing. Adapted from Patricia Cornwell’s iconic, era-defining book series, this is the long-awaited moment Kay Scarpetta devotees have been dreaming of for decades. With more than 120 million copies sold globally since Scarpetta first stepped onto the page in 1990, the character finally slices her way onto the screen in a prestige, big-swing adaptation led by Amazon MGM Studios and Blumhouse Television.

And mark your calendars now: Scarpetta premieres March 11, 2026, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories. This one is global. This one is huge. And from the looks of these first images… this one is going to cut deep.

Oscar winner Nicole Kidman steps into the role of Dr. Kay Scarpetta, the brilliant, relentless, cold-steel medical examiner whose scalpel-sharp mind has enthralled readers for decades. Kidman’s Scarpetta is a woman who refuses to be intimidated: whether by grisly crime scenes, the ghosts of the past, or a serial killer who’s not finished with her yet.

This adaptation leans hard into what fans love: Scarpetta’s unwavering commitment to giving victims a voice, her forensic brilliance, and the emotional weight that comes with being the last line of truth in a world built on lies. And yes, that legendary “career-making case” from nearly thirty years ago? It’s coming back with a vengeance, and Scarpetta is determined it won’t be the case that finally breaks her.

At the helm is Emmy-nominated writer and showrunner Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost), a storyteller who knows how to build tension, character, and dread with masterful precision. Sarnoff crafts Scarpetta as a dual-timeline psychological thriller, tracing Kay’s evolution from a rising Chief Medical Examiner in the late ’90s to her modern-day return to her hometown, and the bloody case waiting for her.

Expect a series that digs deeper than the average crime procedural. This is about trauma, identity, obsession, and the price demanded by justice. Secrets rot beneath the surface, loyalties are strained, scars are reopened, and family ties, especially the fraught relationship between Kay and her sister Dorothy, threaten to combust under pressure.

Prime Video has assembled a knockout cast to bring Cornwell’s characters to the screen:

Nicole Kidman as Dr. Kay Scarpetta — forensic pathologist, truth-seeker, lionheart.

Jamie Lee Curtis as Dorothy Farinelli — Kay’s complicated, sharp-edged sister with secrets of her own.

Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino — Scarpetta’s longtime ally, confidant, and occasional thorn.

Simon Baker as Benton Wesley — the cool, calculating FBI profiler who’s as enigmatic as he is brilliant.

Ariana DeBose as Lucy Watson — Kay’s niece, a fearless, tech-prodigy firecracker with skills that could save lives… or destroy them.

Completing the dual-timeline structure are Rosy McEwen, Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale, and Hunter Parrish, who bring the younger versions of the core cast to life with intensity and precision.

With powerhouse talent both in front of and behind the camera, a legacy name in the crime genre, and a first-look that already drips with mood, precision, and dread, Scarpetta is shaping up to be one of 2026’s must-watch thrillers.

If you’re looking for something twisty and electric then Nicole Kidman’s kooky suburban-mystery thriller Holland will keep you wired with its unique approach to the unsettling feeling that lurks beneath the surface of suburbia.

Teacher and homemaker Nancy Vandergroot’s (Nicole Kidman) picture-perfect life with her husband and son in Holland tumbles into a twisted tale. Nancy and her colleague become suspicious of a secret, only to discover nothing in their lives is what it seems.

Nicole Kidman returns to the thriller genre with Holland, a film that peels back the layers of suburban life to reveal the darkness lurking beneath. Directed by Mimi Cave, known for her work on the critically accalaimed and totally oyt-0there Fresh, this movie intertwines suspense, satire, and psychological drama, offering viewers a complex narrative set against the backdrop of the seemingly idyllic town of Holland, Michigan.

Kidman portrays Nancy Vandergroot, a meticulous home economics teacher and devoted mother whose life revolves around her family and the community’s Dutch-themed traditions. Her husband, Fred, played by Matthew Macfadyen, is an optometrist with a peculiar hobby of maintaining an elaborate model train set in their basement, symbolizing the control he exerts over their domestic life. Their son, Harry, portrayed by Jude Hill, adds to the facade of a perfect family.

The narrative gains momentum when Nancy suspects Fred of infidelity after discovering a crumpled ticket from Madison, Wisconsin, contradicting his stated whereabouts. Her suspicions lead her to enlist the help of her colleague, Dave Delgado, a charismatic shop teacher played by Gael García Bernal. As they delve deeper into Fred’s activities, Nancy’s world unravels, revealing secrets that challenge her perceptions of trust and loyalty. The film masterfully portrays Nancy’s transformation from a composed homemaker to a woman consumed by doubt and paranoia.

Holland is layered with intrigue and mystery, and it does play with audiences expectations, while also building out a burgeoenoing sense of paranoia, and the audience is left questioning what is real in Holland. While there’s the pretext of Holland being perfect, there’s also a serious sense of perfection. and comfort that creates a tone of tension and unease, and this is only further fed by the bonkers dream sequences that continually afflict Kidman’s Nancy. Kidman has built a career with notable suburban set films that examine the evil beneath the surface, but Holland feels completely different from these, and is again kept in line with Cave’s esoteric direction.

Holland is a film that is entirely different from what we first expected and it delivers a sense of suspense, psychological drama, and dark humor, the film invites audiences to question the narratives we construct about our lives and the secrets that lie just beneath the surface.

Prepare to leave your inhibitions at the door with Halina Reijn’s Babygirl because this is a picture that will push all your buttons and then some.

A high-powered CEO puts her career and family on the line when she begins a torrid affair with her much younger intern.

Director Halina Reijn completely pushes all of the boundaries, both in regard to narrative, character and the complete experience of the audience with Babygirl, her twisty, intense, chaotic, ravishing and wild erotic thriller of power and control. Framed from the point of Nicole Kidman’s high-powered CEO Romy Mathis, who becomes infatuated with young intern Samuel (Harris Dickinson) and who becomes entangled in a game of power that is all about the give and take. This is a picture that takes audiences completely by surprise, and it is truly not what you expect. If you go into this with your own expectations of what Baygirl might be, well, you’ll be in for a complete shock, and Reijn’s originality and unique framing and point of view keep you on edge the whole time.

For Nicole Kidman, an Academy Award-winning performer who is now judged as one of the best actresses of the 21st Century, Babygirl is a role that allows her to cut loose, and you’ve never seen her portray a character like this before. By day, Romy Mathis is a high-powered CEO who has all the answers and is always five moves ahead, but secretly, in the hidden hours of the night, she is a woman plagued by distress, repressed memories, and a burning and unfulfilled sexual desires that are now guiding her to riskier and riskier behaviours. She is a woman who has never felt the fullest extent of sexual satisfaction with a partner, and this drives her to extremes in order to find the roots of her missing pleasures. Kidman bares all, both physically and psychologically, in this performance, and Babygirl’s framing of a woman discovering her own pleasure and animalistic happiness makes for an edgy and excellent watch.

Pulling Kidman’s Romy into this dark journey of sexual discovery and hedonistic freedom is Harris Dickinson’s Samuel, an intern at her company who’s dominant characteristics and dark triad traits awaken in her a fire that she’s never known. Dickinson’s Samuel is a character with many sides to him, and his dark energy and the control he begins to exert over Romy will shock and excite audiences as he pushes her to new extremes.

The whole experience of Babygirl is a feeling that will push you to the edge, and Reijn pushes every boundary in this hedonistic tale of extremes. With little dialogue, much of the film is delivered through raw performance and expression, and for Kidman, this is a story of a woman who completely exposes all her flaws, faults, and secrets to the audience. Reijn pushes the film’s sexual content to its greatest extent, but none of it is used in a gratuitous manner, and instead, Romy’s exploration of her truest desires feeds into the character study of this conflicted and flawed person. Reijn and Kidman hide nothing in telling this story; instead, this narrative is a story that examines female desire and the consequences of its repression.

The experience of Babygirl is a thoroughly modern and thumping piece of cinema with visuals and music colliding together for a totally unique cinematic experience. Cinematographer Jasper Wolf and composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer work in tandem to help realise Reijn’s vision of an ethereal dream of pleasure and discovery, with an almost fairytale-style quality to the picture embued in the way in which it is captured.

Babygirl is a boundary-pushing piece of cinema that completely shakes up notions of the erotic thriller genre with a director and performer who have thrown caution to the wind and who find new territory of expression and rhythm because of it. It’s a wild, shocking, and completely original piece of cinema storytelling, and your endorphins will be raging by the time the end credits roll.

Ready yourself for a triumphant and awe-inspiring cinematic experience with David Eggers’ Viking saga The Northman. This is a Teutonic movie of epic scale and savage narrative, and audiences will be awe-inspired by its wild and feral filmmaking.

Starring Alexander Skarsgard as Viking prince Amleth, who following the murder of his father, King Aurvandill (Ethan Hawke) at the hands of his evil uncle Fjölnir (Claes Bang), Amleth sets out to revenge his father and take his kingdom no matter the cost.

Bringing this colossal epic to life up on the big screen is noted visionary filmmaker Robert Eggers’ who has shown with his last two pictures, The Witch and The Lighthouse, that he has the makings of an auteur, and The Northman again clarifies this. Regarded for his keenly detailed eye and maintaining a strong focus for narrative and character, Eggers devotes everything of himself as an artist to The Northman, and his commitment shows in every frame that makes its way to the canvas of the screen. Appearing as an almost Wagnerian painting, The Northman is utterly beautiful to look upon, yet it hides nothing back from the Dark Age in which its brooding narrative is set. This is an age of iron and blood, and while the locations of Norway, The Rus and Iceland are beautiful to look upon, they do not hide the savagery that takes place.

Eggers crafts The Northman as a truly epic film and looks back to the ancient Viking sagas for the setting for his tale, and he tells the revenge tale of Prince Amleth, which inspired Shakespeare’s own Hamlet. Broad in scope and scale, Eggers dives deep into Norse mythology for his tale and his is a story where both man and The Æsir are at work and where men turn themselves into beasts. The language and style of The Northman are utterly Shakespearian, and it is an altogether different kind of epic film that moves at its own pace and pays tribute to the Icelandic sagas of the past. Amleth’s path to his ultimate revenge is tempered with fire at every turn and he is a character who seeks every strike to last. And as we move forward in the narrative the drama grows deeper and the action wilder.

The film’s cinematography, production design, art direction, costuming, hair and make-up, armoury and general detail are utterly fantastic to look upon, with Eggers truly transporting his audience back to a different time and place. This is a true portrait of the Dark Ages, where life and blood run cheap and where fate and fortune intertwine with each other. Cinematographer Jarin Blaschke focuses on a darkened palette of natural light, both in day and night to capture the dark, somewhat nihilistic tone of the narrative, and roaring fires and stark clouds cloak this film in light. The images he captures are vivid and present Alexander Skarsgard’s Amleth as an almighty titan, and the film’s wild excesses will capture your full attention. The Northman is simply stunning to look upon, and it is like watching an Arthur Rackham painting come to life.

Standing at the centre of Eggers’ mighty narrative is Alexander Skarsgard and this Scandinavian acting force gets to channel his inner Viking heritage as the vengeful and crazed Prince Amleth. Robbed of his kingdom and birthright, Skarsgard’s Amleth is now more animal than man, called the ‘Bear-Wolf’, he has become a ferocious berserker who knows no mercy and who lives for the war cry of the battlefield. But when destiny and fortune present themselves, Amleth seizes on his chance for vengeance and a dark road opens up before him to take it. Skarsgard is an utter beast as Amleth, exuding power and strength as the personification of rage, but as he begins his road to the quest for his own revenge, his character changes in unforeseen ways and is tested by dramatic choices. Skarsgard presents Amleth as a tragic-hero figure and as his quest changes him, as secrets are brought to life and the presence of fate interjects on his behalf, the ethics of his plan soon begin to weigh on his heavy brow. Skarsgard holds the gaze of his audience as Amleth and his raw performance is incredibly powerful in its presentation.

Standing beside Skarsgard is Anya Taylor-Joy as Olga of the Birch Forest, a Slavic sorceress who soon becomes a key part to his mission of revenge as well as the love of his life. Standing as a rare beauty in such a chaotic time, Taylor-Joy’s Olga of the Birch Forest is a strong and powerful woman whose wild sorcery gives her dangerous powers, and she is not one to be trifled with. As an actress, Taylor-Joy presents Olga as a survivor, and she shares incredible chemistry onscreen with Skarsgard, and as the narrative moves forward we see them come together in a primordial love that is touching and exhilarating to watch. Taylor-Joy also jumps headfirst into the muck and blood of production, and she puts her mark on the narrative.

Providing a key level of support to The Northman are performers Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Ethan Hawk and Willem Defoe and each has a key role to play in the film’s vengeance narrative. As the treacherous Fjölnir the Brotherless, Claes Bang makes for a striking adversary and he squares up to Skarsgard with sword in hand. Nicole Kidman grabs your attention as the complicated and cunning Queen Gudrún, Amleth’s mother and a woman who is not who she presents herself to be. And there’s plenty of venom laced into her performance. Ethan Hawke is an old-war dog as King Aurvandill War-Raven, Amleth’s father and Fjölnir’s brother who strives to teach his son to rule in the old ways, but who is cut down by cold iron and strikes the spark that leads to his son’s path of vengeance. And finally, Willem Dafoe as Heimir the Fool, brings Amleth guidance where needed, and his kooky performance is sure to keep the audience somewhat ill at ease.

The Northman is a film of savage fury and keeps to the history and customs of the Viking Age. As a portrait of a true pagan society, Eggers keeps everything related to historical accuracy and the strong themes of religion, blood ties and family legacies are sewn into the narrative. Questions of right and wrong and moments of perspective and clarity keep this narrative interesting and the audience guessing. There’s a true ferocity to the storytelling and its presentation in The Northman and when Amleth finally draws forth the demonic sword Draugr and sets to his task of vengeance blood flows and heads roll. Key cinematic moments including The Berserker Raid in The Land of the Rus, which is a fierce and haunting spectacle to witness, and the film’s climactic showdown on the gates of Hel, at the base of the Volcano Hekla, is an awe-inspiring sight to witness, especially when set to the rousing score of Robin Carolan and Sebastian Gainsborough.

The Northman stands alone as an utter triumph of the silver screen. As a thunderous portrait of the Viking Age and its incredibly complex and intricate character study, The Northman succeeds on every level of creativity and this Dark Age picture is sure to bound itself to your soul.

If you’re looking for a film that will ultimately touch your heart and leave you in tears, then Lion is definitely the winning ticket.

Lion chronicles the true story of Saroo Brierley (Dev Patel), a young boy who one day found himself stranded hundreds of miles from his home in the city of Calcutta. After surviving the hardships of the streets he is eventually placed in an orphanage, and adopted by an Australian couple. While he ultimately adapts to his new homeland successfully, it isn’t until years later that he finds himself drawn back to the memories of his former life in India, and begins an extraordinary journey to find his home and the life he left behind.

Watching Lion, you find yourself totally drawn into this phenomenal true story that is beyond anything that fiction could ever conjure up. Saroo’s tale is like a modern tale of Oliver Twist, and director Garth Davis doesn’t shy away from the hardships that this young orphan suffered on the streets of Calcutta. The level of poverty and injustice is particularly heartbreaking, but no matter how dark Lion gets, Davis is always able to bring out the eternal light of hope that seems to guide Saroo in his quest.

Star Dev Patel is a complete revelation in the leading role. The young actor completely disappears into the character, pulling off one of the most believable performances I’ve seen for a long while. His Australian accent and mannerisms are absolutely spot on, and while he may be a very proper British lad in real life, Patel sure makes one hell of a convincing Aussie. There are both highs and lows to Saroo’s journey, and throughout the film Patel’s performance never waivers.

While Patel might be the star, it’s newcomer Sunny Pawar who completely steals the film, as well as your heart, as the younger Saroo. His authenticity and ease in the part really draw you in during the film’s first act, and I’m sure he has a long career ahead of him. Also providing terrific support are Nicole Kidman and David Wenham, as Saroo’s adoptive parents Sue and John Brierley. Kidman in particular is breathtaking, and the penultimate scene where she discusses the events surrounding Saroo’s adoption is an especially emotional scene. Rooney Mara also makes an appearance as Saroo’s on again/off again girlfriend Lucy, who provides vital support and belief in this young man’s life when the world seems to be completely falling down around him.

Lion is an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end, but one that heavily weighs in on the importance of family and the power of hope.

Research has shown that we can recognise emotions in others simply by looking at expressions produced by the eyes. In the case of the characters in this film, all-consuming horror and fear are the winners.

Akin to a Hitchcockian psychological thriller, The Secret in Their Eyes depicts the haunting story of a relentless detective chasing after the murderer of a fellow colleague’s daughter.

Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Ray, a former District Attorney Investigator for a counter-terrorist group following the 9/11 attacks. His partner-in-crime, Jess (Julia Roberts), begins as a cheeky detective, eventually becoming a ghost of her former self after the death of her daughter. Meanwhile, Claire (Nicole Kidman) is Ray’s unrequited love interest-turned District Attorney, who tries to keep him under control as Ray resurfaces the case thirteen years later.

The film has a unique rhythm and interesting pace. Piece by piece, leads come together, but only in the very end do all the dots connect. Similar to Hitchcock’s films, writer and director Billy Ray promotes suspense, asking the audience to play detective until the very end. You never know what is lurking behind hidden corners in this thriller; blood is shed, bleach is poured, and it’s a thrill to watch. Editor Jim Page and Billy Ray have so delicately woven this story together that it falls nothing short of an art form.

Julia Roberts deserves every bit of praise for her stunning performance. While her last few films have been a mix of hard-hitting dramas (August: Osage County, The Normal Heart) and lighter pieces (Mirror, Mirror, Larry Crowne), Roberts strikes harder this time, reminding us why she’s the best. Despite the harrowing subject matter, it’s an absolute joy to see her go deep into the role of a woman haunted by loss and living a life sentence of pain.

Ejiofor’s Ray on the other hand is a man with a plan, fully determined to achieve justice for Jess, though perhaps a little misguided. Ejiofor delivers a wonderful, indomitable performance, propelling the story forward to a twisted conclusion. Though different in many ways, these characters are all tough – they need to be in order to deal with a villain like Marzin (Joe Cole). Although he appears less often in the film than the main trio, Marzin is a twisted and taunting narcissistic psychopath who becomes a shadow. The chase to hunt this man down is gripping, and will undoubtedly keep audiences on the edge of their seats until the end credits.
