The films tells the true story of Richard (Joel Edgerton) and Mildred Loving (Ruth Negga), an interracial couple who married in 1958 in defiance of the state of Virginia’s Racial Integrity Act of 1924. Arrested and exiled from the state, they decided to take their case all the way to the Supreme Court in a historic case for interracial marriage and civil rights.

Nichols looks to have captured lightening in a bottle with Loving, which sees Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga enthralled in a beautiful, raw and intense romance. The film also stars Nick Kroll, Marton Csokas and Nichols’ regular collaborator Michael Shannon.

Loving is a definite must watch, and will be released in cinemas on November 4 in the US and UK.
