Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man has become a cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and has re-affirmed Spider-Man’s presence as a cultural icon across three awe-inspiring films, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home, along with his presence as an Avenger, a whole new generation has been introduced to the character, while Holland has himself brought a new energy and pop to the character, and showcased how more than ever, Spider-Man remains a relevant and impressive character.

And now, he’s set to return as the intrepid web-crawler in Spider-Man: Brand New Day from director Destin Daniel Cretton, and this new trailer promises an experience that is set to end everything you thought you knew about the character of Spider-Man.

Watch the all-new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man. Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.

Both Holland and Daniel Cretton jump headfirst into the action of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and this trailer and movie aren’t wasting any time, shaping up to be an all-new experience for audiences. While growing pains were an essential part of the character of Peter Parker/Spider-Man across this series, we now see an older, more world-weary Peter Parker, who has lost both his lover MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned Weeks (Jacob Batalon) at his own choosing, and his own selflessness starts to falter and fall in on him, with unexpected, and dangerous consequences.

While battling his own powers and spiralling out in the process, Peter also gets caught up with a host of new characters. These include Frank Castle/The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), who is none too pleased about Parker’s higher moral code, but still manages to get a few shots off. There’s also the now-completely human Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), who serves as Peter’s professor and mentor. Both of these heroes will play a key part in his growth within Brand New Day.

Then you’ve got the villains, and what a showtime this time around. We finally get to see Michael Mando step up as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, a vicious criminal with a grudge against Parker. He wears a suit of armour equipped with a mechanised scorpion-like tail and is ready to settle a very personal score. The trailer also teases appearances from Boomerang, Tarantula, and the ninja organisation known as The Hand. There’s also a mysterious new villain keen to turn Parker’s life upside down. Brand New Day is about to get very interesting.

For director Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day offers an opportunity to pay homage to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko’s most personal creation. It’s a chance to celebrate the history and lineage of what this character represents for so many people. This sense of respect shows in every facet of Brand New Day.

And not only is the new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day not only promising a completely kick-ass cinema experience for audiences, but it also happens to now be THE BIGGEST TRAILER LAUNCH OF ALL TIME! That’s right, this new trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has amassed more than a BILLION VIEWS in just four days, prompting Holland and some very happy fans to say THANK YOU to the whole world!

In 2018 the very idea of what an animated cinematic experience could be was forever changed with the release of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. Bringing audiences into contact with a larger Spider-Verse dimension and Brooklyn-born Spider-Man Miles Morales, this film made for a spectacular viewing experience and was an utter game changer. Now audiences can jump back into the four-coloured extravaganza that is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and this is without a doubt one of the best pieces of animated narrative storytelling that you’ll ever witness.

After reuniting with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders. He must soon redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

Diving headfirst into the Spider-Verse this time are directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, who along with screenwriter Phil Lord, take audiences into the expanded Spider-Verse universe! And this is a multiverse where anything is possible. While wanting to avoid spoilers, I will say that the events of Into the Spider-Verse have had consequences for the extended Spider-Man multi-verse, known as the Spider-Verse, and Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), along with his secret crush Gwen Stacy / Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld) get pulled into a mission that will test them to their very limits.

From beginning to end, Across the Spider-Verse is a mind-binding, brightly coloured, full-on rush of a movie. Into the Spider-Verse set the bar high, and Dos Santos, Powers and Thompson take the visual intensity of this movie to a whole new level. With an infinity of possibilities to explore via the Spider-Verse, their creativity is unleashed, and the experience of this film is best described as a visual symphony. Seeking to push Miles’ story in new directions, the directors play with broad themes of heroism and the consequences that follow it, and for the first time in his life, Miles is faced with the repercussions of his actions. Yes, it’s fun to be Spider-Man, but he’s not alone in that and while he starts to find his own superhero community, he also learns that his actions have a grand effect on the very ‘canon’ of the Spider-Verse.

In terms of its visual standpoint, Across the Spider-Verse is utterly gorgeous to look upon. With an expanded universe in which to play with the directors offer their audience a collage viewing experience. Each part of the Spider-Verse has its own unique artistic style, gradient and colourway. This crafts a unique frame of contrast between each of the characters and keeps the story fresh at every turn. Where Miles Brooklyn exists in its unique hip-hop infused four-colour cel-shading style, Gwen Stacey’s universe is constructed from a watercolour palette that showcases a mix of radical pastel shades of purple, pink, orange and red and which bleed and run across the backdrop of her world, matching her fluid and graceful movements. Hundreds upon thousands of different artistic styles are present through Across the Spider-Verse, and audiences will fully marvel at the imagery that is before them.

But it’s not just the visuals that will have you wide-eyed with amazement, but the action takes a serious step up. In the world of the animated Spider-Verse, anything is possible and the very concept of physics, along with the pretence of time and space can be warped and bent for some awe-inspiring action moments. With its intense aerobatics and web-spinning velocity, Across the Spider-Verse delivers some incredible comic book-inspired set pieces, and the directors throw everything at their lead characters in this picture. Across the Spider-Verse is an utter playground of the senses for audiences, and this is a literal comic book come alive on screen.

Framing and perspective play a big part in Across the Spider-Verse and where the first film served as Miles’s story, this second chapter is very much framed from the point-of-view of his secret crush Gwen Stacey. This dual narrative and frame of focus allows for characterisation on a deeper level and there are plenty of moments that hit home hard. Along with Miles and Gwen, another serious character in the film is Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099. Described by Gewn as a ‘ninja vampire’ Spider-Man of the future, O’Hara serves as the leader of the Spider-Society and whose responsibilities lead him to safeguard the ‘canon’ of the Spider-Verse. Isaac’s performance as O’Hara could best be described as muscular and intense and he’s a forceful presence in the narrative, and audiences will be very pleased with the appearance of this fan-favourite character.

Across the Spider-Verse is ultimately a love letter to the very nature of the Spider-Man character and the narrative possibilities of the comic book medium. It’s just an utterly special piece of filmmaking. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the character or are coming into contact with this web-spinning hero for the very first time, you’ll gaze upon the screen with amazement and feel your adrenaline spike from this story. This is a film that not only honours the more than 60-year legacy of the character but which is directly shaped by the famed ‘with great power, comes great responsibility’ mantra that guides this hero’s actions.

If you want to experience a truly awe-inspiring cinematic Spider-Man feast then Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a mandatory film to watch. Audiences will be truly spellbound by its narrative, character arcs, visual style and action intensity, and this is a GUARANTEED great time out at the movies. You will not be disappointed.

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have done it again with Spiderman: No Way Home, and this film is sure to get your spidey-sense tingling.

For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man (Tom Holland), our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.

Spiderman: No Way Home is the epic superhero movie 2021 needs. The wise words of Uncle Ben echo “with great power, comes great responsibility” and boy does it ever! This film packs a punch and is the ultimate nostalgic nod to the heritage of Spider-Man. This is sure to have audiences frothing at the mouth as we see the re-emergence of The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and The Lizard (Rhys Ifans). Could Spidey’s nightmare get any worse?! Worlds collide as the multiverse is cracked open. Prepare yourself for mind-bending special effects, a trip through the mirror dimension and back-breaking stunts. The classics are certainly brought back in this script with plenty of clever one-liners, humour for good measure, and a few epic twists that are sure to excite fans.

Director Jon Watts returns to complete the trilogy he started back with Spider-Man: Homecoming back in 2017 and this final film in his trilogy of works is an undeniable one of a kind movie experience. Since day one, Watts has been incredibly open for his love and admiration of the Spider-Man character and his work on Spider-Man: No Way Home is a perfect love letter to Marvel’s most famous superhero. Watts truly makes this a film for the fans and whether you’re young or old you’re sure to be in heaven with this new film as he takes audiences on a fantastically fun superhero ride that has that quintessential movie escapism about it and which delivers a good serving of heart to audiences everywhere. While not to tread into spoiler territory, Watts has crafted a film that will leave Spider-Man fans SMILING and there are plenty of moments that will send the whole audience into spontaneous applause.

Tom Holland once again returns as the endearing Peter Parker/Spider-Man and his life as a superhero has certainly been turned upside down. Looking for some way back to normal he un-intentionally opens up the multiverse and that’s where things get very interesting for Parker. While he’s still the happy-go-lucky, all-American character that we’ve come to expect, Holland takes a leap into the dramatic this time as Peter and the scope and complexity of director Jon Watts story certainly tests him as an actor. Holland wrestles with plenty of big emotions and there are some serious lessons for him to undergo this time around as this film once again confirms why he’s the perfect Spider-Man for this generation.

Joining Holland this time around is Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, the Master of the Mystic Arts and his presence certainly takes the action up a whole new level into the cosmic. Where Tony Stark was the father figure, Quentin Beck was the cool uncle and Nick Fury was the mean step-dad, Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is the almost un-co-operative colleague, who doesn’t really jump at the chance to help out Spider-Man, but chips in cause he feels he owes him. It’s so much fun to see Cumberbatch back in action again as Strange and he certainly slings plenty of magic this time. Cumberbatch and Holland also have a great sense of back and forth banter between one another and his presence certainly raises the stakes of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Watts goes big this time with the action, stunt work and visual effects and the presence of five new adversaries for Spider-Man to battle this time around, with all of them not of his world, certainly pulls your attention in every direction as an audience member. And this is just straight-up popcorn fun. Watts clearly has a sense of fun in dreaming up all of these dynamic battles and it’s fun to see the spider-suit pushed to the limit as each new villain brings a new challenge for Peter to deal with. Costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hays has done a terrific job adapting several different Spider-suits for Spider-Man: No Way Home and she presents a unique eye for creativity and I’m certain that every kid this Christmas will want to be dressed like Spider-Man again.

When discussing Spider-Man: No Way Home I also want to address the presence of the Multiverse and make no mistake its inclusion in the film leads to ALL KINDS OF AWESOME. While I can’t go into too much detail without running the risk of spoilers I will say that the concept of the Multiverse is completely eye-opening here in Spider-Man: No Way Home and the audience was literally hollering in delight with what this narrative concept delivered up. Trust me when I say that the Multiverse is just straight-up cool, and it certainly tests Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man to the limit. Watts revels in the creativity, possibility and nostalgia that such a concept allows him to address and whether you’re new to Spider-Man or a long time veteran fan of the character you’ll be very pleased with what’s on offer in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is the film that 2021 needs and deserves. It’s fun, light-hearted, nostalgic, action-packed, dramatic, exciting and plays to the power of the movies and why audiences sit together as a group to watch them. This is a film delivered with so much love and it’s a true gift of passion delivered to the audience who loves this character. Young and old will love this film in equal measure and there’s never been a more important portrait of everyone’s favourite web-slinger. All we can say is WOW…JUST WOW!

Well, they’re going to get their wish with the newly announced sequel Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One) and audiences were treated to a sneak peek at the new film over the weekend.

Check out the brand new footage below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga, an epic adventure that will transport Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man across the Multiverse to join forces with Gwen Stacy and a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villain more powerful than anything they have ever encountered.

The footage is absolutely amazing to witness and finds Miles interacting with love interest Gwen Stacy aka Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld) along with getting tangled up in a scuffle with Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099 (Oscar Isaac) An alternate version of Spider-Man from the future.

We’re only scratching the surface with this first bit of footage it’s clear to me that audiences are going to be in for one hell of a ride thanks to directors Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson and I think the Spider-Verse is about to really creative and dynamic thanks to their incredible filmmaking vision.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One) will arrive in cinemas on September 29, 2022.

Everyone’s favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is back, but this time Peter Parker is taking his heroics with him to a whole new continent in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and there’s plenty of spectacle awaiting audiences here.

Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighbourhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned (Jacob Batalon), MJ (Zendaya), and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

We’ve all wondered what would happen after the events of Avengers: Endgame, just what would come next? Spider-Man: Far From Home is the answer and it promises plenty of interesting detail. While it is a blockbuster on an international scope that is jam-packed full of action, director Jon Watts doesn’t go for the high-level heroics of The Avengers, instead he continues with his ground-level view of a hero who is still coming into his position as an Avenger, and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has some serious lessons to learn about responsibility here. As a filmmaker tasked with bringing the story of this generation’s Spider-Man to the big screen, Watts approaches the growing Spider-Man saga with an amazing passion and it really shines through on screen. From the intimate desire for first love to the adrenaline of action-packed superheroics, Watts devotes himself completely to the narrative and it results in incredible entertainment.

Tom Holland is again the star of the show here, and Holland’s Peter Parker has been through a hell of a lot lately, most importantly losing his beloved father figure in Tony Stark to a sacrificial choice that saved the universe itself. Now with Tony gone, Peter has to figure out what’s next for him as a superhero crime fighter and this leads to plenty of interesting moments. While it’s always fun to see Holland jumping from buildings and slinging webs, the real interest in Spider-Man: Far From Home comes from the reconciliation that he has to face with the void left by Tony’s absence. While he may be a teenager looking for love and adventure, he also has newfound responsibilities, and this creates plenty of drama for audiences and leads to a very interesting watch.

Father figures play a crucial part in the Spider-Man myth, and if Tony was Peter’s adoptive father, then Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury happens to be the new mean stepfather, and he ain’t got time for Peter’s petty teenage life when the fate of the world is at stake. Whatever Jackson does it always leads to genius and here as the uber gruff Fury audiences will be in for a real treat. While Peter is looking forward to a vacation, Fury has to save the Earth again and this collision between these two characters leads to plenty of hysterics here. It’s fun to watch Jackson and Holland play-off of one another and you can also expect some pretty epic bits of dialogue from Jackson as well.

If Nick Fury is the mean stepdad, then Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck is the cool uncle and Gyllenhaal brings plenty of charisma to the big screen here. As a soldier from a parallel universe called Earth-833 who has arrived on Earth to stop the marauding Elementals, Gyllenhaal’s Beck takes on the guise of the ultra-powered, ultra cool Mysterio and his powers are pretty damn epic to see up on the big screen. This Hollywood leading man is certainly having a blast here, and he strikes up a great chemistry with Holland as he takes the young Peter Parker under his wing and helps him along with his journey as Spider-Man. Gyllenhaal absolutely commands the audience’s attention here in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and he’s got a few surprises up his sleeve as Mysterio that definitely leaves an impression.

At its heart Spider-Man: Far From Home is a road movie and Peter and his classmates get up to some serious fun as they travel across Europe on what’s supposed to be a vacation. This all-new European setting lends itself to a whole new level of comedy, and Spider-Man: Far From Home is an absolute laugh factory. Watts again has very capable control of what’s going on here, and watching Far From Home reminded me of the likes of classic comedy films such as National Lampoon’s Vacation for its jaw-dropping hilarity. It’s a real treat.

Alongside the laughs, romance also blossoms while on vacation and it’s here that the teen movie genre takes off. While Peter vies for the affection of MJ (Zendeya), it’s his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) who finds love with fellow classmate Betty Brant (Angourie Rice), and their chemistry and antics up on screen are just adorable to watch. Watts really captures the awkwardness that comes with first love and it’s fun to watch these characters fumble through their feelings of teenage romance, while also seeing the attraction and character development that comes with it. As a supporting star, Zendaya’s MJ again is a great foil for Peter Parker’s affections and it’s fun to see them up on screen together.

And if you’re looking for action, well, you’ve come to the right place, because Spider-Man: Far From Home delivers some massive thrills, and they sure do get your adrenaline up! The European canvas of the film’s setting provides a landscape for some particularly awesome moments up on screen, and watching Spider-Man and Mysterio trade blows with the Elementals sure is a lot of fun. However it’s the Berlin action sequence that makes for one hell of a mind trip and it’s twisty, combative presence is really fun to watch. As he’s also in Europe Peter gets another costume update this time as well, and it’s fun to watch him, retrofit a new Spidey suit which comes with plenty of fun gadgets.

From beginning to end, Spider-Man: Far From Home is a blast to watch and it’ll definitely get you amped for what is to come next in the MCU. With a terrific narrative, a wonderful cast, hilarious comedy and plenty of blockbuster action you’ll want to see this one on the biggest screen possible.

It’s been an exciting morning with the release of the brand new teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home arriving online and now I’m well excited for what comes next.

Here are our top five moments from the new teaser trailer:

5. “You almost forgot this!! Love May.”

It wouldn’t be Spider-Man without a good dose of humour and the new trailer starts off with a great gag thanks to Aunt May’s packing! This really had me in stitches and you can bet that it’ll be a riot as Peter has to find a way to hide his secret identity from everyone while on vacation. Laughs are imminent.

4. “I think she really likes me.”

Part of what makes the Spider-Man film’s so awesome is that we are firmly following Peter Parker in his high school years and that of course means there’s plenty of room for young love. Finding his attraction growing with MJ (Zendaya), I’m certain that we’ll see a deeper romance forming between the two of them in some of the most romantic cities in the world.

3. “So nice to finally meet you, Spider-Man.”

It was a shocking development and we can now confirm that Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury and he has a very big interest in Peter Parker’s future. It’s always a cause for celebration when Samuel L. Jackson walks onto the screen and I was genuinely surprised to see him here. He definitely seems guarded and very focused on the task at hand and it’ll be interesting to see how he mentors the young hero and pushes him to his limits in order to become the hero the world truly needs.

2. “Are you going to step up or not.”

If you’re looking for action, well you’ll find it here, because Spider-Man: Far From Home has plenty of amazing footage on display. With warring Elementals taking over Europe and bringing destruction to cities such as Venice and London, Spider-Man is going to take it up a notch here and he’s got some brand new suits, including the all-new black stealth suit, to help him out. And with all these new powers comes a lot more responsibility and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker will have to step up and save the world here.

1. “You don’t want any part of this.”

As soon as I heard that Jake Gyllenhaal was joining Spider-Man: Far From Home as Mysterio I knew we were going to be in for something really exciting, and his arrival in the new teaser trailer is very impressive. Wearing a picture perfect suit, including his trademark green and purple colours and his fish bowl helmet, Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio has taken on a vigilante turn here in Far From Home and he seems well up to the task to defeating the warring Elementals. But is he who he truly appears to be? Questions like these have been popping into my mind, especially given Mysterio’s presence in the comic books and his narrative history. While we’ll have to wait and see what his ultimate purpose here really is one thing for sure is that Gyllenhaal looks incredible in the role and you definitely won’t be able to take your eyes off of him.

Spider-Man: Far From Home will arrive in cinemas on July 4.

It’s a great time to be a Spider-Man fan at the moment, not only have we had the incredible visual spectacle of Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse but now we’re about to hangout with everyone’s friendly neighbourhood hero in a whole new neighbourhood in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The first teaser trailer has been released and it is absolutely AMAZING. Check it out below:

Here’s the full synopsis:

Peter Parker (Tom Holland) returns in Spider-Man: Far From Home, the next chapter of the Spider-Man: Homecoming series! Our friendly neighborhood Super Hero decides to join his best friends Ned (Jacob Batalon), MJ (Zendaya), and the rest of the gang on a European vacation. However, Peter’s plan to leave super heroics behind for a few weeks are quickly scrapped when he begrudgingly agrees to help Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) uncover the mystery of several elemental creature attacks, creating havoc across the continent!

It’s fantastic to see Tom Holland back in action with Spider-Man: Far From Home and this new film will once again chart his growth as a hero. Following Peter and his friends as he embarks on a trip overseas to take in some of Europe’s most amazing sights, he quickly finds that he can’t outrun his status as a hero and is forced back into action. Following the events of Avengers: Infinity War it now looks like we’re seeing a far more reserved Peter, who is questioning whether he actually wants to be a hero at all, and this doubt will lead him to a path of discovery once again. Holland is again in control here and he looks really comfortable in the character’s shoes and he’ll have a good dose of comedy and action to play with in Far From Home.

The new trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home was definitely packed out with surprises and the appearance of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury really caught me off guard. The former S.H.I.E.L.D. director appears to be back in action and again, following on from Robert Downey Jr.’s performance in Spider-Man: Homecoming, will serve as a new mentor for the character and help him believe in his abilities once again.

Spider-Man: Far From Home also introduces us to Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck/Mysterio, a mysterious vigilante who is equipped with a host of incredible powers and who is recruited by Fury to help battle the Elementals. While his appearance is only brief in the teaser, Gyllenhaal looks great in the part and I’m really excited to see more of him. His presence here as a vigilante also raises plenty of questions as to just how he’ll serve the story as long-time Spider-Man fans know where he stands within the mythology and I think we’ll see plenty of twists and turns from Mysterio here.

Visually the film looks like a stunning treat and the action sequences will really get you going. With a host of villains known as the Elementals wrecking havoc, Peter is thrown into the action once more and we’ve got some amazing set pieces in places such as Venice and London that will really fill the screen with intensity.

Get ready for plenty of web slinging action when Spider-Man: Far From Home arrives in cinemas on July 4.

Get ready to swing high because Spider-Man: Into The Spider -Verse is here and this all-new animated adventure is a visual feast for your eyes and will throw you into a whole new Spiderverse that simply has to be experienced.

Miles Morales becomes the Spider-Man of his reality and crosses paths with his counterparts from other dimensions to stop a threat to all reality.

Spider-Man. Everyone’s friendly neighbourhood hero named Peter Parker who was bitten by a radioactive spider and developed amazing powers from it, before facing tragedy and then deciding to fight crime and give the people of New York the hero they needed. But Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is not that Spider-Man and this story completely reshapes the Spider-Man narrative that we are so familiar with in one amazing rollercoaster of a film.

Directors Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman present the origins of a brand new hero in the form of Brooklyn native Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), a gifted teenager who is struggling to find his place in the world…until he is bitten by a genetically engineered spider and develops some incredibly amazing powers. From there what happens is a non-stop action ride as he runs into devastating inter-dimensional powers and a washed up Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Jake Johnson) and together these two would-be heroes have to stop a whole new batch of dangerous enemies from destroying the very fabric of time and space forever. Where you think this film will zig, well it zags and everything is kept fresh and fun thanks to an impressive visual symphony that plays out in front of you and its all just mesmerizing. The directors firmly capture your attention with this marvelous film and with its solid mix of superhero action and outlandish comedy you’ll be kept guessing at every turn.

In presenting this tale of a whole new Spider-Man and Spider-Verse we meet Miles Morales, a teenager from Brooklyn who admires his universe’s Spider-Man and unexpectedly finds himself having to undertake the mantle himself in order to save his universe and the whole space-time continuum in the process. With Miles, we’re seeing the heroes journey play out in full and it’s a far different one from that of Peter Parker. Miles is a thoroughly contemporary kid and he’s wholly unique with his passions for graffiti art and retro hip-hop, and you really feel for him as he rides the line between trying to be cool and just being himself. His journey from ordinary teenager to super-powered hero makes for a very inspiring watch and he’s certainly got a lot to learn when it comes to all his newfound responsibilities. Actor Shameik Moore does a truly great job of making Miles believable and you absolutely want him to win out in the end and all of that can be delivered back to Moore’s performance.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is its own completely original take on the Spider-Man mythology and this film thoroughly re-writes the rules here. In this film we get new powers and abilities and a whole batch of new heroes in the form of Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman (Hailee Steinfeld), a punk rocker who takes Miles and Peter for a ride; Spider-Noir (Nicolas Cage), a monochromatic Bogart noir-inspired hero; Peni Parker (Kimiko Glenn), an Asian-American teenager from the future who has her own bio-mechanical robotic Spider suit and Peter Porker/Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), a funny animal character who finds his way into Miles’ Brooklyn and brings plenty of comedy with him. Then there’s a collection of colourful new villains that completely retcon every previous villain from the Spider-Man universe with appearances that include Kingpin (Liev Schreiber), Doctor Octopus (Kathryn Hahn), Scorpion (Joaquín Cosío) and The Green Goblin (Jorma Taccone), along with the appearance of the film’s uber-villain the terrifying Prowler! All of this reinvention and reinterpretation completely keeps you on your feet and makes for an extremely rich and beautiful film to get lost in.

When talking about Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, I’ve also got to single out the film’s bold and exciting cell-shaded graphics which really give this film its pop. Packed out with colour and beautiful renditions of all our favourite characters, you find yourself feeling as if you’re watching a comic book come to life on screen. The whole medium has been transported from the printed page to the energy of the silver screen and this unique presentation will completely have you mesmerized. I also have to praise the film’s closing action set piece which is nothing short of a high energy acid trip of colour and light and it hits your senses with the momentum of a freight train! Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is a beautiful cinematic experience to watch and its visual magic will absolutely enchant you.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is ultimately about the journey that one needs to take in order to become a hero and it packs a great message that anyone can become the hero if they truly want to step up and make a difference. Miles journey to embrace his life as Spider-Man and do it all with his own style is a tremendously inspiring narrative and this young hero proves that as long as you have a big enough heart you can truly make a difference.

Breathtaking in every single regard, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is a tremendously exciting cinematic rush that presents a whole new side to a universe that we have long loved and packs it out with amazing visual flair, solid action, laugh-out-loud hilarity and a great message of what it means to be a hero. So flick out your web shooters and swing into this one for a very fun time.
