In a recent profile piece in USAToday, Carr and Pratt dug deeper into Dark Wolf informing that it will serve as both an origin story to Edwards dark turn, along with highlighting and introducing characters who will step up in a major way for Season Two of The Terminal List, which will adapt Carr’s 2019 hot action thriller True Believer and which is set to feature Luke Hemsworth as Jules Landry; a crass, self-obsessed CIA contractor and Dar Salim as Mohammed Farooq; a former Iraqi Special Operations Forces officer.

Pratt and Carr developed the prequel series following the smash hit of The Terminal List, and the enthusiasm was deeply felt by DiGilio and filmmaker Antoine Fuqua. Dark Wolf follows Edwards, who, as a resident wildcard, is discharged from the SEALs after an operation, and his coveted trident insignia is removed from his uniform. “One split-second decision changed the course of his life,” said Taylor Kitsch. “You’re not only stripping the bird off his chest, you’re stripping away a piece of who this guy is and his purpose.” It’s then that he and Hastings get embroiled in the murky world of double dealings and brutal revenge killings of international intelligence operations, and the pair soon become entangled with Mossad agent Eliza Perash (Rona-Lee Shimon) who has her own war to fight.

“This is the origin story,” Kitsch said, vowing to reveal the road to Edwards’ betrayal. “This is the story that gets us to that point. There was so much heat around Edwards with that twist and all these questions about how. You’re going to learn a heck of a lot more about who Ben really is and these twists and turns that led to that decision.”

In Kitsch’s own mind, Dark Wolf offers him the opportunity for a story that could lead to more prequel seasons for the character and allow him to really dig deep into those dark moments that shaped him into the character audiences met back in The Terminal List.

“I just think it came out really strong. I wish I could tell you where we’re taking him,” Kitsch says. “If we’re lucky to get a second season of ‘Dark Wolf,’ it would be even darker than this season, no pun intended. This really dives into the story of a man fighting for the greater good. and not winning.”

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf will premiere its first three episodes on Wednesday, August 27, with new episodes following weekly, with all of it leading up to the season finale on Wednesday, September 24 on Prime Video.

Kitsch will headline the miniseries, and will be joined by Chris Pratt as James Reece along with Jared Shaw as Boozer.

Variety has also just confirmed that English thespian Tom Hopper, a hulking British performer of immense talent and size and the star of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, has signed on to portray the pivotal character of Raife Hastings, both in Dark Wolf and the forthcoming second season of The Terminal List.

Production is set to start soon on The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, and with a little bit of luck, we might get the series premiering before the end of the year.

As confirmed by both Prime Video and Deadline, Prime Video has now ordered a second series of the highly watched action-conspiracy-military The Terminal List which took the streaming platform by storm last year and which will now adapt the Jack Carr’s second Reese novel, True Believer for a brand new series.

But it’s not just more of Pratt as Reese that audiences will be getting, as Prime Video is also looking to expand the universe of The Terminal List and is actively developing a prequel series that will follow Taylor Kitsch’s Ben Edwards, Reese’s SEAL team-mate and accomplice. Pitched as an elevated espionage thriller, the as-yet-untitled prequel series will take viewers on Edwards’ journey from Navy SEAL into the dark, shadowy intelligence black-ops world of the CIA as he becomes an established CIA paramilitary operator, and will explore a more sinister and grittier side to modern warfare and the human cost that comes with it.

While no indication has been made as to which series will move forward first, we do know that the prequel series will place greater emphasis on the background of Edwards, along with exploring other characters in The Terminal List including the as-yet uncast Raife Hastings, a former SEAL and key ally of Reese, along with other characters including the infamous Mohammed Farooq and Reese’s SEAL squadmate Ernest “Boozer” Vickers who was played in Season One by Pratt’s longtime friend, trainer and former SEAL Jared Shaw.

Of the new announcement series star and producer Chris Pratt said, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to reprise my role as James Reece.” He also noted that Season 2 of The Terminal List “promises to be even more intense and action-packed than the first” and that the prequel “will be just as thrilling and engaging as The Terminal List.”

“The phenomenal summer debut of The Terminal List is a testament to the creativity of Jack Carr, David DiGilio and Chris Pratt along with the cast and teams who delivered such an original and compelling series” said Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon and MGM Studios. “With the second season of The Terminal List and Prime Video’s new prequel series starring the amazing Taylor Kitsch, we are expanding on the storytelling and characters beloved by so many all over the world.”

This news that we’ll be getting an expanded Terminal List is pretty damn exciting, and I can’t wait to see what comes in this next chapter of The Terminal List as James Reese’s story is expanded upon.

James Reece (Chris Pratt) is drawn deeper into a complex conspiracy and puts a new name on his list. Meanwhile, Secretary of Defense Lorraine Hartley (Jeanne Tripplehorn) announces a drastic policy overhaul to help Special Operators. And Katie (Constance Wu) discovers the truth of what’s going on in Reece’s head.

Aware that his targeting for execution was no mere act of war, Navy SEAL James Reece is out for blood and the conspiracy that he’s an unwilling participant in is beginning to grow ever larger. Having marked the first name off his ‘terminal list’, Reece rendezvous with both investigative journalist Katie Brunark (Constance Wu) and his best friend and former SEAL teammate Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) to find his answers. But nothing goes according to plan, and Reece has to make his way on the run as he seeks out answers in ‘Consolidation’.

Director M. J. Bassett keeps the action moving fast, and intertwines the episode’s explosive thrills with the series’ burgeoning twisting narrative, and ‘Consolidation’ makes for a pulse-pounding watch. From targetted assassinations to the revelation of the puppet masters and what could be the truth, Chris Pratt is kept on his feet as Reece and he has to move quickly. Bassett has an eye for detail and this is levelled in both the series production detail and the action that unfolds. One of the coolest montages of the episode comes when Reece is assembling his war kit in his war room bunker at his house and we see him load out his kit including the likes of a full-auto M4 Carbine, 12-gauge automatic shotgun, an assortment of Sig Saurs and the infamous Winkler tomahawks that have become a staple of Jack Carr’s writing, and the Reece character.

‘Consolidation’ is an important episode as we see Reece actively pursue his vengeance. While he’s already drawn first blood, that first target felt more like an accidental circumstance, rather than a direct target mission. And that’s exactly where ‘Consolidation’ picks up. While shocking revelations of this conspiracy come to light, soon the action steps up and the gunfire cracks off. Pratt shows some considerable gun skills and he’s completely operational as Reece, and it’s a lot of fun as an audience member to watch him go to work. Fast-paced shootouts follow and keep your eyes open for a very special cameo from the man behind Reece, Jack Carr himself.

The narrative moves quickly in ‘Consolidation’ and we get to see Reece and Ben work closer together, as Reece’s new mission comes to light. Present to this is the appearance of two new bad guys that have made it onto Reece’s list. And they’re both in need of being taken out. Stepping into the centre of the screen as billionaire finance bro and wannabe tier-one operator Steve Horn is Jai Courtney. And he’s a solid bit of casting. Best defined by an equal dose of aggression and narcissism, Horn is the CEO of Capstone Industries, a high-level venture capital firm that has taken an interest in Reece. Courtney rocks the part as the slick-suited Horn and he’s a guy with a serious ego and natural temper that marks him out as a quintessential bad guy who’s only it in for his own end.

Then there’s Sean Gunn, Pratt’s long-time Guardians of the Galaxy co-star who makes an appearance in ‘Consolidation’ as Horn’s lackey, Capstone VP Sal Agnon. An unpleasant and repugnant individual, Agnon is instantly unlikeable and Gunn brings out the character’s wormy quality to perfection. Sent to haggle the price of a pharmaceutical company that Horn intends to sell off, Agnon finds himself added to Reece’s list. And it’s not a warm conversation. Violent and terrifying, director M. J. Bassett brings a horror edge to this episode as Reece goes to work on Agnon, and it’s an interaction that will take audiences by surprise. In this moment we see Reece’s inner monster begin to come out and he makes for an incredibly dangerous presence in ‘Consolidation’.

Episode Three of The Terminal List, ‘Consolidation’ is the audience’s first real taste of the intensity of this series, and Reece is a character with bite. Moving forward, Reece has a choice in front of him, answers or blood….and he’s made his decision.

Navy SEAL James Reece (Chris Pratt) locks onto his first potential target, enlisting Ben’s (Taylor Kitsch) help. With his mental health in question, investigative journalist Katie Burnack (Candace Wu) and Reece strike up an uneasy but mutually beneficial partnership to find answers.

The final moments of Episode One of The Terminal List, ‘The Engram’, delivered a massive shock that hit Chris Pratt’s Navy SEAL operator James Reece personally, completely devastating his character and laying the foundation for how this series will move forward. And there will be blood. Director Ellen Kuras picks up the reigns from Antoine Fuqua and moves forward at pace as Reece is questioned by NCIS and begins to notice that things just aren’t adding up. And it’s in this setting that we begin to see the beginning of a conspiracy at work.

The adaptation of Jack Carr’s story for Prime Video has stuck to the core of Carr’s novel, and in Episode Two we meet more characters who will become central to this story. They include former Army helicopter pilot Liz Riley (Tyner Rushing), to who Reece has a personal connection, having befriended her while he served in Iraq and who served as the godmother to his daughter Lucy. Rushing brings a strong stance to this Southern girl, who’s tough as nails and is a very real part of the Reece lore. Then there’s Marco Del Toro (Marco Rodríguez), a long-time friend of Reece’s father Thomas, who also has a shared history with the younger Reece, and Rodríguez brings a statesman-like quality to his performance, along with a guiding hand to the younger Reece’s grief.

But while there is time for Reece to mourn, this Frogman soon senses that not all is as it seems and his need for answers, and vengeance, drives the narrative forward. The action moves quickly and this isn’t Reece going in guns blazing, instead, he’s all about the stealth mission and his search for answers leads to some very interesting revelations, as he adds a name to his infamous ‘terminal list’. ‘Encoding’ is also of critical importance as Reece strikes up a bargain with investigative journalist Katie Buranek, a woman he still does not completely trust, but it’s in their interaction that we begin to see the first moments of a sense of comradeship form, along with Pratt showing off Reece’s tier-one mindset and skills at intelligence gathering and evasion.

Along with delivering on the intensity that The Terminal List demands, Kuras and showrunner David DiGillio continue to keep the audiences on their toes thanks to the presence of Chris Pratt’s James Reece and his stance as an unreliable narrator. Suffering from a unique sense of trauma his mind is awash with many conflicting memories and this makes for a very creative approach to the presentation of the narrative and Pratt’s portrayal of Reece. This conflict between the past and the present and what is truthful and what is imagined is realized in the episode’s brutal showdown at the end of the third act and it’s clear that audiences are going to be kept guessing as Reece traces his path to vengeance.

We’re just at the start of The Terminal List, but names are being added and James Reece is on the hunt. Audiences had better mount up because the intensity of this new show is only going to build further from here.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion), Only the Brave, chronicles the heroic efforts of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite team of specially qualified firefighters who combat bushfires on the very edge of the flames, fighting fire with fire.

For Brolin and the cast which includes the likes of Miles Teller, James Badge Dale, Taylor Kitsch, Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Connelly, authenticity and professionalism was everything and they all worked extremely hard to honour the spirit and commitment of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and their families.

The trailer captures both the hardships and sacrifices that these men endured along with the camaraderie and brotherhood that they had for one another and the lengths that they were prepared to go to protect their town.

Only the Brave will arrive in cinemas on November 9 and is an absolute must watch.

After losing his fiancee in a horrific and brutal terrorist attack, young college student Mitch Rapp (O’Brien) finds his life irreversibly changed forever. Giving up everything he devotes himself to hunting down the terrorist masterminds behind it. But his plans take a side route when he is recruited by a speciality CIA training school run by legendary Cold War warrior Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton) and Rapp is moulded into a lethal operative. Now remade as a perfect weapon, Rapp finds his mettle tested as he is tasked to stop a rogue operative codenamed ‘Ghost’ (Taylor Kitsch) before he can unleash a nuclear holocaust.  

If you think American Assassin is just your run of the mill, cliched action film, well, your very, very wrong. Instead, director Michael Cuesta takes Vince Flynn’s intense source material and runs with it, producing a thriller that really plays up every nail-biting second and delivers action scenes that are particularly gnarly. Flynn’s Rapp series has a reputation for being in-your-face reads which don’t hold back on the violence, or his staunch Republicanism, and the movie reflects this brilliantly.

In making this film, Cuesta has approached the filming with realism in mind, and this leads to some particularly violent moments as O’Brien’s Rapp takes his targets apart with military efficiency. None of the action is wasted and the film’s stunt and fight choreography team throw in tonnes of material that make Rapp’s actions believable. His style of combat is a mashup of Krav Maga by way of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and our hero has no hesitation about going straight for the jugular or overdoing it with his knife work to get the job done. The film has a hard edge to it, and it really works in its favour, without it, frankly, it wouldn’t be true to the spirit and flavour of the Mitch Rapp series.

Young star Dylan O’Brien really steps up to the plate and throws himself headfirst into the action as Mitch Rapp. In mere moments he goes from a fun loving All-American college boy to that of an obsessed and brutal terrorist hunter. O’Brien is consumed by rage and unleashes it on his adversaries, or anyone who gets in his way, with very violent repercussions. This switch in emotional range combined with his physical transformation into a that of muscled-up tough guy makes for a worthy new action hero.

Every hero needs a mentor and O’Brien’s Rapp finds his in Michael Keaton’s Stan Hurley. Hurley is a former Navy SEAL and Black Ops assassin who learned his trade during the Cold War and who is in charge of overseeing the CIA’s brutal O’Reilly Program training school. Keaton plays Hurley as the ultimate hard ass, a man who has seen it all and who is unimpressed by Rapp’s emotionally-charged vigilantism. But as the film progresses a sense of respect grows between the two of them. This type of character is a rarity for Keaton, but he really makes a great go of it. His performance is authentic and I’d love to see him return to the role of Hurley in possible sequels.

Finishing out the main cast is Taylor Kitsch as rogue mercenary ‘Ghost’. Everyone who knows me knows that I’m a huge Kitsch fan and I really relished seeing him fall to the dark side. His character is sort of the dark mirror to Rapp, a reflection of what he could become if he strays too far. Again the word that I have to keep using with this film is authenticity, and you just buy Kitsch as ‘Ghost’, especially his sordid history with Hurley, which comes to a head in an emotionally charged showdown that leaves both characters bloody.

American Assassin also broke new ground for me in relation to how contemporary it was in its politics and setting. It bases its subject matter around the Iranian Nuclear Accords and this use of slightly uncomfortable geopolitical subject matter makes for a more engaged and exciting watch.

American Assassin is definitely not for those looking for an easy time at the movies, but if you want an edgy rush then you’ve come to the right place. While Vince Flynn sadly never got to see his character make it to the big screen after he died following an aggressive battle with prostate cancer, in my thinking I believe he would have been proud of the care and detail that were placed on making this film a damn fine watch.
