Millions Hunt. One Runs. Everyone Watches.

Welcome to The Running Man, a brand-new high energy, all-action thriller extravaganza of competition, sparkling lights and all out insanity as cult filmmaker Edgar Wright puts his own spin og Stephen King classic short story ‘The Running Man’ and delivers bold new energy to this crazy, out-of-control story… which has just debuted its new trailer and it is MENTAL!

Watch the all-new trailer for The Running Man below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

In a near-future society, The Running Man is the top-rated show on television—a deadly competition where contestants, known as Runners, must survive 30 days while being hunted by professional assassins, with every move broadcast to a bloodthirsty public and each day bringing a greater cash reward. Desperate to save his sick daughter, working-class Ben Richards (Glen Powell) is convinced by the show’s charming but ruthless producer, Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), to enter the game as a last resort. But Ben’s defiance, instincts, and grit turn him into an unexpected fan favorite—and a threat to the entire system. As ratings skyrocket, so does the danger, and Ben must outwit not just the Hunters, but a nation addicted to watching him fall.

Originally published in 1982 by Stephen King, under his Richard Bachman alias, The Running Man was a groundbreaking work that pre-dated the idea of reality TV and hyper-extreme game shows, and in our often crazy modern day, the story feels like a fitting, and slightly scary thought of what could happen. Cult filmmaker Edgar Wright has picked up the reins for this one, and this new trailer SCREAMS his name at the top of its lungs as his distinctive directorial DNA is all over it, and it promises a hell of a rush for audiences.

Rising Hollywood A-lister Glen Powell cements his new leading man status with the picture, and showcases that he’s got the grit, looks, and action bravado to lead from the front and he does a hell of a job as the film’s lead, Ben Richards, who with no other options left, and looking for a way to make things right for his family is pulled into the sinister world of The Running Man. This sets him on a collision course with the manipulative and callous network executive Dan Killian (Josh Brolin), and it’s gonna be a hell of a showdown as Ben does everything he can to flip the script. Arnold Schwarzenneger brought plenty of swag to the roll back in 1987, and now it’s Powell’s turn, and he turns up the action heat for a hell of a ride!

This trailer leaves you utterly hyped with what it delivers, and it showcases a new level of manic courtesy of Wright. The cast is also stacked and delivers some scene-stealing moments, particularly from the likes of Michael Cera’s quirky resistance fighter, Bradley Throckmorton, and Colman Domingo’s prophetic, zany, and loud host, Bobby Thompson. Everything about The Running Man sees it delivered at 100 per cent, and this is going to be a hell of a fun experience up on the big screen.

Benicio del Toro returns to the silver screen as death incarnate himself, Alejandro, the sicario, a modern day man with no name who walks right into the very heart of the beast in this dangerous and provocative follow-on from Sicario with Sicario: Day of the Soldado.

Following the events of Sicario, CIA Task Force Commander Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) is commanded to eliminate drug cartels operating in Mexico. Bringing Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) back into the fold, Graver and his top assassin return to Mexico to start a war between two rival cartels in an effort to silence them for good.

Where Denis Villenenue offered us an initiation into the very heart of darkness with Sicario, this time director Stefano Sollima takes us back to the ‘land of wolves’ as Alejandro coined it, but the stakes are now far higher than before. The Drug Cartels have swapped drug trafficking for people smuggling and this has led to a bunch of nefarious terrorist types gaining entrance to the United States, and chaos does ensue. The US Government’s response to all of this: fight chaos with even more ruthless terror and that’s where we arrive in Day of the Soldado. Sollima and writer Taylor Sheridan craft another twisting narrative that uses multiple story points to craft a story of an all the more dangerous and provocative mission.

Sollima made a name for himself with the critically revered Gomorrah crime television opus, and here he brings that same sense of documentary exploration to this film. The cinematography is intricate, and detailed and really puts you as an audience member right into the heart of the action. And whether it’s the intricate planning or the chime of hot lead leaving the gun barrels of fully automatic assault rifles when it all kicks off you feel every single moment of the film’s gun metal tension. Like it’s predecessor, Day of the Soldado is a nerve-racking watch, particularly in its brutal third act, and you’ll find yourself pinned to your seat as the film twists and turns and again goes into corners that you just can’t see coming.

Academy Award winner Benicio del Toro gives another thunderous performance as Alejandro, the lawyer turned assassin who has made it his life’s work to eradicate the Drug Cartels with total ‘extreme prejudice’. He again channels his man of few words, and explicit action perfectly, but the film’s set-up and the twists that exist allow us to see who this man is on a more personal level. While I will say that we do not witness Alejandro dropping his guard, we do get to see his more human side, or what little of it that still remains. It’s a performance that is again a testament to del Toro’s understanding and experience with the performers craft and he again totally delivers.

Standing next to Alejandro is his brother-in-arms CIA Special Activities Division officer Matt Graver played by the brilliant Josh Brolin who again gives an incredibly focused performance. As in the original Sicario, Brolin’s Graver is a man who ‘gets things done’ and who time and time again has proven that he is willing to not merely cross the line, but erase it entirely to ensure that his mission is completed. He is essentially ‘a rough man who is ready to do violence’ in order to secure the security of his nation and again orchestrates some pretty horrendous activities this time around. But being the master puppeteer that he is as Graver, Brolin also remembers to show off his playful side and there’s plenty of sly black humour that finds its way into his performance.

Both del Toro and Brolin complement each other perfectly and it’s a lot of fun to see them again working together as they decide to unleash a war down in Mexico. There’s a certain playfulness that you get to see working between the two of them and I was very impressed with how they traded off one another here.

Like it’s predecessor the details and realism are once again spot on here. As an example of Special Forces action Day of the Soldado lays everything out in the open and showcases the lethal perfection that these operators have in accomplishing there mission. Kitted out with the best tactical gear and comms imaginable Del Toro, Brolin and their team are an unstoppable force and they readily put the fear of god into the low-level Cartel hitmen that they have been assigned to eradicate. Sollima also examines the rise of the world of for profit military contractors, and how the United States mission as ‘the world’s policeman’ has lined a lot of pockets thanks to defense spending budgets.

In terms of following Sicario on a thematic level, Day of the Soldado takes the stage that where the first film was about the militarization of the police, here the idea of policing has been removed and we are now living in a pro military world where law and order are just words to ensure a mission gets the green light. It’s even more interesting given the film’s analysis of its pro-Republican based setting and how this current day feeling is affecting the war on drugs.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado is a successful follow on and worthy second chapter in what I hope will be an eventual Sicario trilogy. In terms of a cinematic experience it takes you to the very edge and leaves you gasping for breath as to what you just witnessed up on screen. What remains for the sicario himself, Alejandro, still remains to be seen but I’m certain that his war is not over and this devil still has names to collect.

Deadpool, everyone’s favourite ‘Merc with a Mouth’ is back and this time he’s got company in the completely outrageous follow up to the smash hit film Deadpool in the aptly titled Deadpool 2!

Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (AKA. Deadpool), brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy of supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-travelling mutant, Cable.

Ever since I walked out of Deadpool in 2016 I was obsessing over a Deadpool sequel. I wanted it. Badly. And well now we’ve got it. Canada’s favourite son Ryan Reynolds has now returned to he big screen as the fast-talking merc mutie and he’s got plenty of hijinks ready this time around. Teaming up with director David Leitch (one of the guys who killed the dog in John Wick), the two really push the envelope with a film that is bigger, funnier and an all-around ballsier watch (both figuratively and literally). Reynolds and Leitch have really upped the ante this time around and have taken what works and added a whole heap more fireworks which results in an explosion of fun!

Reynolds again shines in the role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool, a former good looking anti-hero with a heart of gold, who is now a radioactive Shar Pei-looking anti-hero with a heart of gold. Continuing in his story to make some kind of normal life for himself while also “travelling the world and meeting new and interesting people….and then killing them”, Wade finds his life thrown into a crisis and begins a dramatic search for new meaning. Reynolds once again crushes it with both the action and the comedy and what results is just pure genius.

His spot on comedic timing is just flat out perfect and he continually one ups himself with his joke line-up. While there are too many solid jokes to choose from I think my favourite this time around would have to be his comments made about Deadpool/Cable creator Rob Liefeld’s inability to draw feet. It was a line that had me in stitches, and I seriously haven’t laughed this hard in a long, long time.

But while Deadpool might be the lighthearted soul of the party, he gets a serious dose of a dark, metal future in the form of Josh Brolin’s time-traveling super soldier Cable! As soon as I heard Cable would be along for the sequel I was excited, and then when I heard that he’d be played by Brolin I was really excited. And yes there was a reason I was this excited and it all played up on screen. Shredded to the bone and packing some very big guns, Brolin is one badass bruiser as Cable and he doesn’t have any time for Deadpool’s comedy routine. Instead, he’s got a job to do and he tears through anyone who gets in his way. Brolin’s performance is absolutely bad to the bone and if you remember the 90s well you’ll be very impressed with this performance.

I also have to talk about the arrival of X-Force as well! Yep, that’s right, the most 90s of 1990s superhero teams make their way up onto the big screen and it will really leave you in hysterics! We’re talking about the arrival of Domino (the astounding Zazie Beetz), Bedlum (Terry Crews), Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgard), Shatterstar (Lewis Tan) and Peter (Rob Delaney). This is an A-Team for a brand new generation, and their appearance in the film doesn’t disappoint. Beetz really holds her own up on screen and all I can say is that I want to see a lot more Domino in the future.

In talking about Deadpool 2 you also can’t overlook the huge contribution that fresh young talent Julian Dennison brings to the film. This rising Kiwi star made a big splash in Hunt for the Wilderpeople and here he makes a great addition to the film as a very angry kid called Russell. While I can’t go into who Russell is or why his appearance in this film is so significant, but what I will say is that Dennison really gives Reynolds a run for his money with his comedy. He’s just a one-liner king and with his extremely volatile superpowers and propensity to cause trouble (he’s still a very bad egg), Dennison is the cherry on the top of Deadpool 2.

Deadpool 2 has twice the action of Deadpool and this makes it a feast for your optic nerve. Big, bold and extremely explosive is how I’d describe the action here. Not only do we have Deadpool’s acrobatic swordplay, but Cable brings the firepower which is mixed alongside a highly combustible combination of unchecked superpowers which really make the big screen go BOOM! It’s a very fun rollercoaster…and you’ll want to ride it multiple times.

And while I know Marvel might own the realm of post-credit sequences, well all I’ll say is that Deadpool 2 really gives them a run for their money. Please do stick around.

So should you go and see Deadpool 2 at the movies??? UM YESSS!!! It’s an absolute riot from beginning to end, packed out with a good dose of ultra-violence, some quality raunchy comedy, plenty of over-the-top superpowers and Peter! Yep, it doesn’t get much better than that.

Benicio Del Toro sent a chill down our spines with his intense performance as Alejandro in Sicario and now he’s returning to unleash all out war in the hotly anticipated sequel Sicario 2: Soldado.

The new trailer is here and it clarifies Alejandro’s mission and the chaos that he intends to level on his enemies. Check it out below:

Here’s the synopsis:

Following the events of Sicario, CIA Task Force Commander Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) is commanded to eliminate drug cartels operating in Mexico. Bringing Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) back into the fold, Graver and his top assassin return to Mexico to start a war between two rival cartels in an effort to silence them for good.

The new trailer focuses in the mission that Graver and Alejandro take and the rift that develops between these two men. New director Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah) again focuses in on the film’s sense of realism with particular attention to detail on the film’s weaponry and hardware, along with giving us a deeper insight into Alejandro’s frayed and twisted psyche.

Check out my full trailer reaction video for Soldado below and hear my thoughts on the film’s tone and just where this story is going:

Sicario 2: Soldado is not for the faint of heart but it will provide some definite thrills when it arrives in cinemas on June 28.

Benicio Del Toro returns as Sicario’s angel of death, Alejandro Gillick, in the heavy hitting first trailer for the much-anticipated sequel Sicario 2: Soldado.

The new trailer is a brutal watch. Check out the intensity below:

Sicario 2: Soldado is definitely not for the faint of heart. The trailer is packed out with plenty of intensity and makes its predecessor look like the film equivalent of a daiquiri. Soldado, on the other hand, is 160 proof whiskey with a serious kick to it.

Del Toro once again looks in killer form as Alejandro and while he may have settled his personal vendetta in the original Sicario, here he’s in overtime and his quick reflexes and killer instincts have not wained.

Sicario 2: Soldado is most definitely one of my most anticipated films of 2018 and will arrive in cinemas on June 28, 2018.

Yep, it’s a very good day! Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios released the first official teaser trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, and I’m pretty sure the internet broke.

Check out the official teaser trailer below:

Here’s the synopsis:

Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) are broken and disbanded. Earth’s greatest heroes have fallen by the wayside, and now a great darkness is growing. That darkness is Thanos (Josh Brolin), a celestial titan bent on control of the entire universe and who has come to collect the remaining Infinity Stones to do it. With the threat of extinction imminent Stark, Rogers and their allies, both old and new, will have to come together in order to battle Thanos and stop him before it’s too late!

This new trailer is simply glorious, and it definitely leaves long-time Marvel fans, myself included, salivating at the thought of how amazing it is!

While there is an abundance of footage featuring characters such as Iron Man, Captain America, Thanos and what looks likes like one epic final stand on the fields of Wakanda, directors The Russo Brothers are clearly keeping their cards close to their chest.

While we get a taste, there’s more still to come, and this will certainly keep long-time fans guessing. Of particular interest is Josh Brolin’s performance as Thanos with the actor now taking centre stage. Should the Avengers be worried about him? You betcha, because this titan is coming for the Universe.

Check out my full initial reaction to the new trailer below with after-thought trailer commentary, and let me know what you thought of the trailer.

Avengers: Infinity War will be released in cinemas on April 25, 2018.

Heroism doesn’t get more courageous than the men who put their lives on the line in the burning backlands of wildfire country. This is the setting for Joseph Kosinski’s Only the Brave, which documents the true life story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and their stoic commander Eric March (Josh Brolin) who put their lives in harm’s way to save others and who paid the ultimate price for doing their duty.

Prescott, Arizona. Dedicated firefighter Commander Eric Marsh (Josh Brolin) commands a disciplined group of wildland firefighters who desire to become front-line first responders, also known as Hot Shots. Through training and determination the men of the Prescott Fire House achieve their dream and dub themselves the Granite Mountain Hot Shots, but when it gets heavy and hot and it was a choice between life and death, these brace men would make the ultimate sacrifice to save others.

When watching Only the Brave I must warn you that you must be ready for plenty of heavy emotion. This is one film that does not hide the drama that comes with its true story of honour and duty. All those involved in the making of this film from director Joseph Kosinski to stars Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, James Badge Dale, Taylor Kitsch and Jennifer Connelly were all adamant in capturing the true spirit of these brave men who were simply doing their jobs when they were robbed of their lives in the worst wildland fire tragedy in American history.

The key to this is authenticity, and Kosinski and his team capture this in great depth and detail in both the film’s firefighting setting and of the men’s deeply connected family lives. While watching this film you feel the blood, sweat and tears as the men of Granite Mountain first work to prove themselves as Hot Shots, a whole other level of firefighting where the job is to engage wildfires directly with nothing more than shovels, pickaxes and flamethrowers. Then after winning their badges as Hot Shots, the real action begins, and the flames heat up as these men march off into the wild and take on mother nature up close and personal.

Kosinski puts his actors in the real heat of the fire, and all were up for the challenge. Forget about stunt doubles or CGI. These actors clearly took it upon themselves to jump headfirst into their roles, both to test their own metal and to honour the sacrifice made by their real-life counterparts. Only the Brave is realism at its finest, and no amount of detail or dirt was lost in making this film as authentic as possible.

But beyond the fires are the men’s personal lives. Here they’re husbands, fathers, brothers and sons. Just ordinary men, doing extraordinary things, and whose bond to one another is unquestioning. These men loved their families and each other with a passion and when they aren’t training or fighting out in the bush they’re partying it up and living life to the fullest. Some of my favourite scenes in Only the Brave were moments spent away from the fire, and in those quiet places where they were just together. Kosinski really captures how their love and passion for what they did and for each other made the Granite Mountain Hotshots so successful out on the front line.

Leading the Hotshots is Josh Brolin as the stoic, and quintessential American, Captain Eric ‘Supe’ Marsh. For Brolin, Only the Brave is a performance of a lifetime and one that is extremely personal at that. The actor spent much of his early twenties as a volunteer firefighter and worked under men who knew Marsh personally. All throughout the film, you feel the responsibility that Brolin carries, not only in his performance as Marsh, but also for portraying this man right. There’s this quiet heroism about Marsh, whose a cowboy in the tradition of John Wayne, a man who both talk’s the talk and walk’s the walk. When everything went to hell you wanted ‘Supe’ by your side, and Brolin captures that quality perfectly. Paired with him is Jennifer Connelly as his wife Amanda, and who shares a great chemistry on screen with Brolin. This is a woman who understands her husband down to the bone, and who in the film’s hardest moments embodies the strength that her husband did so clearly. Both Brolin and Connelly are a winning combination, and no two actors could have pulled these characters off more perfectly.

Striding into the film is Miles Teller as Brendan “Donut” McDonough, a young man who has considerable demons to conquer and who was the only man to survive the terrible ordeal of Yarnell Hill Fire that claimed the lives of his comrades. Introduced as a drug fiend, Brendan finds himself as a young father and quickly realises that he needs to get his life back in order and who goes to Marsh looking for a chance to prove himself. What he gets is no pity and a whole lot of discipline as ‘Supe’ forges him into the man he is meant to be. Teller has long shown he has a terrific dramatic range and he really pushes himself under Kosinski and Brolin’s presence. With Brolin, Teller exhibits a Father/Son relationship as Marsh pushes him to become a Hot Shot and a better man in the process. It’s a relationship that is both heart-warming and heart-wrenching, but which ultimately makes the film a far stronger watch.

Only the Brave is a film that grabs you by the heart and doesn’t let go and every person who comes out of it is sure to smile a little longer and wave a little faster at the men and women who put their lives at risk on a daily basis as firefighters. Real heroes don’t come more heroic than this.

Hollywood megastar Josh Brolin is not one to shy away from his admiration and respect for America’s firefighting and first responder communities and in his new film, Only The Brave, the star got to pay his tribute to a team of truly heroic men.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski (Tron: Legacy, Oblivion), Only the Brave, chronicles the heroic efforts of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, an elite team of specially qualified firefighters who combat bushfires on the very edge of the flames, fighting fire with fire.

For Brolin and the cast which includes the likes of Miles Teller, James Badge Dale, Taylor Kitsch, Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Connelly, authenticity and professionalism was everything and they all worked extremely hard to honour the spirit and commitment of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and their families.

The trailer captures both the hardships and sacrifices that these men endured along with the camaraderie and brotherhood that they had for one another and the lengths that they were prepared to go to protect their town.

Only the Brave will arrive in cinemas on November 9 and is an absolute must watch.

Hollywood masterminds Joel and Ethan Coen are back for another brilliant and original tale in Hail, Caesar!. The film chronicles the madness that follows studio fixer Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin), as he tries to find an over-the-top movie star (George Clooney) who disappears from the set of the studio’s biggest tentpole, and now threatens completion of their big event movie.

Here are five reasons why you should definitely line up to watch Hail, Caesar!:

5. The talented tap-dancing of Burt Gurney

Channelling his inner Gene Kelly, Channing Tatum is perfectly cast as tap-dancing whizz and studio A-lister Burt Gurney, who enchants audiences with a rhythmic and choreographic musical number of epic proportions. While audiences have long known that Tatum can definitely shake it, he steps it up a notch as the whimsical Gurney, who may not be quite all he appears to be.

4. The Golden Age of Hollywood

Set during the Hollywood’s golden age of the mid-1950s when big blockbusters ruled the silver screen, Hail, Caesar! utilises a unique setting to tell a compelling and completely hysterical day-in-the-life story. Set amongst the dramas surrounding uber studio Capital Pictures, the film follows both the actors and the studio heads who order them through a range of chaotic situations that threaten to derail the mega project aptly named Hail, Caesar. The Coen’s have a lot of fun with the period detail, while playing around with the history of gossip columns and the deal making that shaped Hollywood.

3. Scarlet Johansson – The impossible starlet

While Eddie Mannix’s day mostly concerns finding missing movie star Baird Whitlock (George Clooney), after he goes missing from the set of Hail, Caesar!, he also finds himself trying to rescue pregnant and unwed starlet DeeAnna Moran from a possible scandal. Making quite the entrance in an epic synchronised swimming scene, Johansson impresses with a thick New Jersey accent and tough demeanor that shatters all illusions we have of the perfect Hollywood starlet. The banter she shares with Brolin’s Mannix is fun to watch, as the two appear to be the only two realists in the crazy world of Hollywood.

2. Eddie Mannix – The no-nonsense studio exec

Cast in the central role of studio ‘fixer’ Eddie Mannix is Coen regular Josh Brolin, who once again makes a big impression on audiences as a no-nonsense but deeply troubled individual. Brolin is both deeply serious and unintentionally hilarious as Mannix, who has a ritualised habit of attending confession in between juggling multiple tasks. While it would be easy to make Mannix a corporate suit and villain, he’s immensely likeable as the only sensible and switched on individual in all of Tinseltown, and you can’t help but respect his commitment to his job and clients.

1. ‘Twer that it were so simple’

But Hail, Caesar’s defining moment comes in a showdown between cowboy musician Hoby Doyle (Alden Ehrenreich) and cultured director Laurence Laurentiz (Ralph Fiennes), on the set of Laurentiz’s new movie. The interaction between these two results in an absolute laughfest, owing mostly to a clash of culture and filmmaking styles. Well worth the watch.

In Sicario, celebrated filmmaker Denis Villenenue (Prisoners) throws his audience into the very heart of darkness in a twisted, exhilarating film experience. Here’s the official synopsis:

Idealistic FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) is enlisted by an elite government task force official (Josh Brolin) to aid in the escalating war against drugs. Led by an enigmatic consultant (Benicio del Toro) with a questionable past, the team sets out on a clandestine journey forcing Kate to question everything that she believes in order to survive.

With an all-star cast and powerful script you shouldn’t need any more reason to line up for this thrilling flick. In case you’re on the fence, here’s the extra push you need:

5. The Wild West

Set in the dark and dusty plains of the American Border and Mexico, Sicario makes it clear that the Wild West never died, having simply replaced horses with four wheel drives and upgraded to bigger guns. When idealistic FBI Agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) first crosses the border, she comes to find herself in a completely alien world where the very question of right and wrong doesn’t exist. Villenenue uses the classic western archetypes to his advantage, but shifts them to suit this new world that his characters operate in where there are no rules, and the white hats have left town forever.

4. Cinematography on the edge

In Sicario, Villenenue also finds himself blessed with the partnership of noted cinematographer Roger Deakins, and the two shoot one hell of a film together. Deakins captures the crimson dusk and fading light in clear, beautiful strokes which heightens the scope and epicness of the plot. But the biggest test for Deakins comes in the formidable border crossing scene: a tense, nail-biting, journey that is framed beautifully and tracks at the pace of a ticking clock attached to a stick of dynamite.

3. The shadow world

Part of what makes Sicario so compelling is Villenenue’s commitment to detail in the world he finds himself operating in. Centering his story on the shadow warriors of the elite Tier One units of the FBI and their fellow law enforcement organisations, Villenenue takes the time to get their look and actions right, from the kit that they wear to their weapons and tactics. Everything works to create a believable world that will both fascinate and scare audiences.

2. Benicio del Toro’s Muerte Encarnada

Death takes human form in the shape of Benicio del Toro’s silent and intimidating assassin Alejandro — a lethal man of few words who is brutally efficient in the art of death. From the moment he graces the screen, you know there’s something off about this smooth and silent man with no name. Del Toro fully commits to the role of Alejandro, crafting a frightening and intriguing character who will live on as one of the silver screen’s most legendary antiheroes.

1. Emily Blunt: a sheep amongst wolves

While del Toro may provide the horror, Denis Villenenue places Emily Blunt at the film’s centre as FBI hostage rescue operative Kate Macer — a thoroughly green agent who finds herself quickly in over her head in this dark and chaotic world. As the only women in Sicaro’s boy’s club, Blunt really steps up to the plate, crafting a performance that guides the audience into the dark and brutal world where they experience the events of the movie first hand as she does. Blunt brilliantly bears the responsibility of playing the film’s moral center, which places her at great odds with her puppet master superior, the sly Matt Graver (Josh Brolin), and the dangerous world in which she now works. Blunt gives a simply stunning performance, and it’s very likely that Academy Gold could be heading her way.
