The post Westeros will burn as the dragons dance in new trailer for ‘House of the Dragon’ Season Three appeared first on SpicyPulp.

Set a century before the events of Game of Thrones, HBO Max’s A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms follows Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his quick-witted squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell) as they carve their own path across the Kingsroad and the tournament fields of Westeros. The result is a heroic, upbeat, and intensely exciting adventure — one that pulls audiences in immediately and reminds us why this world captured imaginations in the first place.

Set a century before Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wander Westeros – a naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey), and his diminutive squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell). Great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits await these improbable friends

Before the Dragon Fell to the Stag

This is Westeros before dragons vanished and before the Iron Throne became synonymous with pure bloodshed. The Targaryen dragon still rules, and into this era steps Ser Duncan the Tall; an impoverished, newly made hedge knight with no lord, no land, and little more than a sword, a shield, and a stubborn sense of right and wrong.

Desperate to make his name, fortune, and perhaps earn a scrap of glory, Duncan’s journey soon becomes something far greater. Adapting Martin’s beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a classic coming-of-age story, a pure Hero’s Journey, set in a land long bereft of true heroes. Where Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon revelled in grim darkness and political rot, this series feels like an antidote: a tale of honour, courage, and the cost of doing the right thing.

The Making of a True Knight

Rather than a sprawling, empire-shaking epic, the series wisely keeps its focus intimate. This is Duncan’s story, a young man of towering height and size, trying to understand who he really is and what it means to be a knight.

Former professional rugby player Peter Claffey is a near-perfect fit. He captures Duncan’s uncertainty and imposter syndrome while grounding the character in decency and quiet resolve. Duncan wants to be good in a world that rewards cruelty, power, and dominance; and that goodness is often punished. Yet he never wallows. He endures. He keeps punching forward, living true to his oath. Claffey brings warmth, humour, and steel to the role, and audiences are sure to be enchanted by his performance.

Knight and Squire

Matched beautifully with Claffey is Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, the would-be squire with secrets of his own. Where Duncan offers size and strength, Egg counters with razor-sharp wit and intelligence. Ansell is the series’ quiet scene-stealer, bringing enormous heart to the role. The chemistry between the two is pitch-perfect — a big brother/little brother dynamic that grounds the entire series and gives it much of its soul.

Princes, Storms, and Steel

For such an intimate story, the supporting cast is stacked and leaves a lasting impression. Daniel Ings brings swagger and bawdy charm as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, the “Laughing Storm,” a knight who recognises Duncan’s potential and encourages him to live loudly and boldly. Ings is clearly having a blast.

Finn Bennett is deeply unsettling as Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen — cruel, vindictive, and petty — forming a dangerous grudge against Duncan that spirals into brutal consequences. Towering above them all is Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor “Breakspear” Targaryen, heir to the Iron Throne and Hand of the King. Carvel commands every scene with authority and moral gravity, embodying the kind of leader Westeros desperately needs, and seeing potential in Duncan that others overlook.

Blood, Honour, and the Jousting Ground

The world-building and action are thrilling, centred around the Ashford tournament and its brutal jousts. The atmosphere is raucous and electric, shifting quickly from celebration to danger. As steel strikes and tempers flare, Duncan’s mettle is tested in ways that reshape his destiny. The tension builds episode by episode, culminating in confrontations that will leave audiences stunned.

Final Verdict: A Tale Worth Telling

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms feels right on every level. For viewers craving high fantasy rooted in honour, courage, and character, this is something truly special. Rich with nuance, excitement, and imagination, it offers a refreshing new flavour of Westeros; and this tall tale is only just beginning.

Based on Martin’s acclaimed novella The Hedge Knight, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The story focuses on the aspiring hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg, as they embark on a journey to participate in a series of tournaments and jousts, aiming for fame and fortune.

Watch the brand new trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms below:

This brand-new trailer continues from the first-look teaser we received, and for fans eager to return to Westeros, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms promises to be an absolute delight. Notably, it focuses exclusively on the world of tournaments and the knights who compete in them. The series presents a highly ambitious and courageous story of chivalry and heroism as Ser Duncan the Tall enters the tourney scene, following the journeys of two of George R.R. Martin’s most beloved characters.

The new trailer conveys a sense of excitement and energy, and audiences seeking a tale of high adventure and significant action will find it in this series. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is generating considerable anticipation, showcasing a different aspect of the lands of Westeros. The story follows the steps of Joseph Campbell’s The Hero’s Journey, which promises a dynamic and engaging viewing experience.

While the teaser trailer provided a glimpse of what to expect from A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the new trailer emphasises Ser Duncan’s struggle with his sworn oath and his responsibilities as a knight. He begins to realise that concepts of honour and justice often clash with the interests of the ruling elite. His actions as a knight inevitably lead him into conflict with the volatile, vindictive, and vicious Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen (Finn Bennett). This tale of steel-on-steel combat is bound to leave only one hero standing.

But before power and the crown drew them forth into legend, their origin first had to be told, and audiences will now get the chance to experience their story for the first time ever in HBO’s all-new fantasy series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

Watch the full trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms below:

Adapting Geore R.R. Martin’s acclaimed novella, The Hedge Knight, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is set 100 years before the events of A Game of Thrones and follows the tale of would-be hedge knight Ser Duncan the Tall, and his squire Egg, as they find one another and embark on a quest to participate in a series of tournaments and jousts to win fame and fortune.

This first trailer showcases that showrunner Ira Parker, who is working in tandem with Martin, has clearly captured the heroic energy and rollicking adventure of that readers first got a taste of when reading The Tales of Dunk and Egg, and the series has a quality that I feel leads into films such as the early-2000s classic A Knight’s Tale. There’s action, daring, romance and adventure, but also a true feeling of hope and the battle against adversity, along with showing a clear appearance of hope and optimism.

The world-building in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is again utterly brilliant to witness, and we get a new side of the world of Westeros in the volume and eclectiveness of the tournament scene as Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg travel about the circuit searching for glory. Series stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell have a terrific back-and-forth banter as Dunk and Egg, and this brotherly chemistry that is shared between them will be a big highlight of the series. The trailer also gives a look into characters such as Finn Bennett’s Prince Aerion “Brightflame” Targaryen; a cruel, narcissistic and sadistic Targaryen Prince and Egg’s elder brother, along with what is sure to be a scene-stealing turn from Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, a knight known as the “Laughing Storm” and the heir to House Baratheon.

Check out the EPIC final trailer for the new series of House of the Dragon below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Following King Aegon II’s coronation and the death of Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys Velaryon, Season 2 follows the ‘Greens’ and the ‘Blacks’ as the ‘Dance of the Dragons’ begins.

As those supporting Alicent and Visery’s son Aegon II attempt to run the realm from King’s Landing – despite their king’s lacking leadership – Rhaenyra’s Black Council debates the value of measured moves versus more impactful responses to Luke’s death from Dragonstone. Although both women cling in some ways to the memory of their friendship, the momentum of the war has begun, and they find themselves at odds with even their closest allies.

Plots to find support within the great house move the action of the series from beyond the walls of the Red Keep to the lands of Westeros, where petty rivalries inform decisions just as much as the threat of death and destruction. The desire to amass larger armies and more strongholds divides our main characters, leading them down separate paths where mysterious visions, bastards with hidden talents, and brutal dragon-on-dragon battles await.

Season Two of House of the Dragon is all about the showdown, and it’s gonna be a hell of an event as the Greens and the Blacks go to War! We see Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy) going head to head against her former best friend turned rival, Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke). At the same time, the ‘Rogue Prince’ himself, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), is ready to face down his upstart nephew, Prince Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell), who desires to be the most ruthless warrior in all the land!

House of the Dragon is shaping up to be an aggressive and pulse-pounding watch, and audiences who are seeking a series with a good dose of bite will be well rewarded with this new chapter of this critically acclaimed series.

Fire and blood will rain down upon all when House of the Dragon returns to Neon and SOHO on June 17.

The post Westeros will burn as ‘House of the Dragon’ returns for Season Two appeared first on SpicyPulp.

Set 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones and the arrival of Daenerys Targaryen, House of the Dragon is set within the rule of King Viserys Targaryen I (Paddy Considine). Desperate for an heir to pass his kingdom to, Viserys awaits the birth of a male child and all of the kingdom is gathered for the occasion. But the ‘Game of Thrones’ is still at play and finding her way into its board is Viserys’ oldest child, Princess Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) who must contend with the advances of her cunning and vicious uncle, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith).

Today is the day many have awaited and now the first episode of House of the Dragon, ‘The Heirs of the Dragon’ has arrived. And it is STUNNING. Noted Game of Thrones director Miguel Sapochnik returns to bring the world of Ice and Fire back to life, and House of the Dragon is a series of immense grandeur and spectacle, which rivals the grand old epics of classic Hollywood. Taking audiences back in time to when House Targaryen held complete sway over all of Westeros, this is a kingdom that is at the height of its power. With references to Medieval France, Ancient Rome and the power of Babylon, House of the Dragon fully transports audiences back to a time when dragons roamed through the sky. The scale of this series is enormous and with great creativity and craft, Sapochnik, Condal and their team re-invent the land of Westeros of a bygone era and it’s marvellous to look upon.

In ‘The Heirs of the Dragon’ audiences are brought into a world of colossal palaces, hard-charging knights, beautiful princesses and mythical beasts. House of the Dragon is a pure piece of fantasy with all the trimmings, and its intricate detailing will pull audiences deeper into the start of a deep and powerful drama of plotting, betrayals, tragedy and malice. Sapochnik and Condal have crafted something that will appeal to the eyes and draws upon the senses and everything about this new series is dialled all the way up. The violence is gorier, the action heavier, the sex steamier and all of it serves to glorify the power of House Targaryen and the force that they wield. The events of this 66-minute television event will completely consume audiences and ‘The Heirs of the Dragon’ paints the start of an intriguing new series.

Key to this series is the central character of Princess Rhaenyra, played by newcomer Milly Alcock. As King Viserys Targaryen I (Paddy Considine) eldest surviving heir, she is a fiercely independent dragon rider who soars through the skies of Westeros on the back of her mighty dragon Syrax. Rebellious and independently spirited, Rhaenyra is not content with her destiny to be a mother and solely to provide heirs to her matched husband, and Milly Alcock spurs up the rebelliousness within her. It also must be said that Alcock completely looks the part of Princess Rhaenyra and even though we are only at the beginning of her story, she is a Targaryen destined for equal parts greatness and infamy.

Joining Alcock in the series as her father and King of all the Seven Kingdoms, Viserys Targaryen I is noted actor Paddy Considine, and it’s a terrific part for the actor to play. Best described as a boastful, good-time King, Viserys I is not noted for his iron fist or control of law and order and is not a fitting choice to sit on the Iron Throne. Considine leans into this as Viserys I and there are moments in this first episode where he recognises that he’s completely out of his depth. Considine brings an interesting juxtaposition to the world of House of the Dragon as Viserys I and the tragedies that he faces are sure to change him for the worse.

Standing between Alcock’s Princess Rhaenyra and Paddy Considine’s King Viserys I is Matt Smith as the King’s brother, Prince Daemon Targaryen. A cunning knight of brute power and calculating ferocity, Prince Daemon is commander of the city watch and unleashes his own brand of terror under his own command. Nursing displeasure with living in his brother’s shadow, Prince Daemon is a character of pure impulse and his appearance in ‘The Heirs of the Dragon’ is sure to keep audiences on edge. For Matt Smith, House of the Dragon offers him as an actor a brand new canvas to play on and this is a character we’ve never seen him play before. With rock star swagger, Smith makes Prince Daemon the ultimate fantasy bad boy, he’s a dangerous and intense presence in the series, and he knows how to swing a blade with force.

‘The Heirs of the Dragon’ also introduces audiences to a host of new characters and Houses of the Realm. While the mainstays of The Starks, The Lannisters, The Baratheons and The Tyrells are all accounted for and present for House of the Dragon, the power lies with several other more ancient houses in this series. Chief among them being the Hightower’s and the Velaryon’s. As scheming politician Sir Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower and Hand of the King, actor Rhys Ifans commands the attention of his screen and his beautiful young daughter Lady Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) has much presence in the series as the confidant to Princess Rhaenyra. Then there’s the stoic and forceful Lord of the Tides, Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) who is seeking power and control in Westeros and is ready to do what he has to take it.

Along with its intriguing new characters and deep, twisting layers of political intrigue, House of the Dragon delivers on sheer spectacle and there’s a lot to excite audiences in this series. Packed into this episode are some considerable high stake moments, and the scale promised will completely pull audiences in. This full-on feudal society fills out the entire frame and one of the episode’s coolest moments is the appearance of a lavish and opulent tournament that sees horses and knights crashing into each along, along with swords unleashed and the melee of knightly combat in full effect. ‘The Heirs of the Dragon’ is a triumphant return to Westeros and House of the Dragon is shaping up to be an incredibly exciting television event.

The fire roars in House of the Dragon and this is a mighty new television debut that will take audiences by surprise with its drama and intensity. And this is only just the beginning.

House of the Dragon is available to watch on SKY SOHO and NEON.

Set two hundred years before the events of A Song of Ice and Fire, House of the Dragon takes place during the reign of House Targaryen, and its ruler King Viserys I Targaryen (Paddy Considine) who is now struck when it comes to his succession and whom the crown should pass to.

Vying for power is Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), Viserys daughter and a dragon rider who vows to be Westeros’ first Queen, along with Viserys brother, Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) a dangerous and machiavellian warrior of unmatched power and cunning, and this fight between the Targaryen’s will draw in all of Westeros and lead to the civil war known as ‘The Dance of the Dragons’.

Led by showrunner Ryan J. Condal, with assistance from author George R.R. Check them out below:

Billions

The world of high finance is the setting for this machiavellian tale of hedge fund titan Bobby Axelrod (Damien Lewis) who is locked in a dangerous and escalating game of cat and mouse with US Attorney Chuck Rhodes (Paul Giamatti). The premise is simple, Axelrod, better known as Axe, wants to make as much money as possible. Rhodes wants to put him away for doing it, citing a long list of financial fraud and conspiracy charges. If you love intriguing, almost dangerous dramas then Billions makes for a terrific watch and throw in some amazing supporting characters including Axe’s wife, Lara (Malin Akerman), a calculating Lady MacBeth type, and Rhodes wife Wendy (Maggie Siff), a self-possessed alpha professional who’s willing to go to any length to get the job done, along with the hyper-intelligent and ambitious Taylor Amber Mason (Asia Kate Dillon) and you’ve got the setting for a terrific show. Billions has everything you could want out of a television show, and it’s all money!

Ray Donovan

When it comes to crime dramas they rarely get this personal, but the phenomenal and brooding Ray Donovan is an almost Shakespearean level drama that pulls no punches. Focusing in on professional fixer Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber), who leads a complicated life using an array of illegal and unethical ways to make sure the clients for the legal firm he works for get their way. Making things even more stressful for Ray is the fact that his personal life is an utter mess and you’ve got the setting and backdrop for a powerful character study. Schreiber is fantastic in the role of Ray and really gets to pull out his considerable acting depth in this incredible portrait of a complex man living a dangerous and difficult life. With 8 seasons to binge, Ray Donovan will hold your attention very nicely.

Game of Thrones

It’s regarded as one of the greatest achievements of long form television in the last decade, and if it’s been a while since you last watched Game of Thrones you might want to take the time to check it out once again. With it’s memorable characters including dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), heroic outcast Jon Snow (Kit Harington), ferocious lioness Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), conflicted knight Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and the clever and calculating dwarf Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Game of Thrones brings the epic world of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy world to life with fantastical characters, mythic world building and an intriguing, twisting narrative and it’s viewing that will keep you engaged the whole way through. Audiences never could have imagined that they would have been this engaged by the fantasy genre and it might be a good time to venture back to Westeros once more.

True Detective

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson brought two incredible performances together in the television event that was True Detective, and this slow-burn story was one of pain, rage, fire, vengeance and redemption, and we couldn’t look away. As Louisiana State Police homicide detectives Rustin “Rust” Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin “Marty” Hart (Harrelson), they are brought into investigate a grisly crime committed by a serial killer over a 17-year period. True Detective was a narrative that got into your bones, and it was masterfully captured via the talented eye of director Cary Joji Fukunaga. Dark and savage at every turn, True Detective is one of those shows that stays with you long after you watch it, and years on since it’s debut back ion 2014 it still remains as one of the most celebrated television events ever broadcast. This one comes highly recommended.

Banshee

Sometimes all you want is some old school pulp-fiction, smack’em’up action mayhem and in that situation Banshee is the one to choose. Starring New Zealander Antony Starr as a nameless thief, and recent jailbird, who assumes the identity of recently dead police officer Lucas Hood, and whom is then sworn is as the new Sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania, Banshee mixes in all kinds of extremes and makes for a ferocious piece of action TV. From its bone breaking fights to stoic character moments, Banshee is great fun and pits Hood against a whole host of deranged villains including a crazed Ukrainian mob boss named Rabbit, who has a serious axe to grind, local Armish kingpin Kai Procter, who has his own vision for how Banshee should be run, and a whole host of other bad guys. And did I mention that Hood’s trying to renew his one time love affair with Rabbit’s daughter Anastasia (Ivana Miličević), who has herself adopted an assumed identity, married, and is now raising a family in Banshee. Oh and then there’s his two best friends; local bar owner, ex-fighter and former criminal Sugar (Frankie Faison), and transvestite hacker extrordainre Job (the exceptional Hoon Lee). This mixes of outlandish narrative, brutal action and mercurial characters makes Banshee an utterly addictive rush of a show.

All these shows are available to stream on Neon now.
