Love and secrets threaten Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard in ‘Allied’
Robert Zemeckis is set to make quite a return to the big screen with a heavy tale of love, loss and secrets set against the backdrop of WWII in Allied.
A new spot for the film has just been released, and highlights the growing tension between American assassin Max Vatan (Pitt), and his formidable wife Marianne (Cotillard), after they return from the war and the transgressions of Marianne’s past catches up with them.
Zemeckis is clearly returning to the grand old age of Hollywood with his big budget vision, and appears to have spared no expense in recreating WWII with spot-on costuming and production design, as well as a staged recreation of the London Blitz. And while there’ll certainly be plenty of gunfire, Zemeckis and his team haven’t forgotten romance, evoking classic films such as Casablanca in the whirlwind chemistry that is displayed between Pitt and Cotillard.
Allied will be released in cinemas on November 22 in New Zealand and Australia and on November 23 in the US and UK.
