‘Beauty and the Beast’ Gaston prequel coming to Disney+
Disney+ continues to be an incredibly exciting place for Disney fans, and alongside the development of a range of amazing new programmes including The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision and Loki, Disney are also looking to other IP to expand the scope of their reach.
Now The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Beauty and The Beast is set to arrive on Disney+, and that it’s focus will be on a new prequel series focusing on the misadventures of the narcissistic and self-absorbed Gaston and his flamboyant and long-suffering sidekick LeFou.
Stars Luke Evans and Josh Gad will both be returning as Gaston and LeFou for this six-episode limited series, which will be set before the events of Beauty and the Beast.
Veteran composer Alan Menken is in talks to return to score the series and Once Upon a Time creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz will serve as showrunners for the yet untitled series.
We have no confirmed release date as of yet, but it’s likely that the series may debut in late 2021 or early 2022.
