Here’s the official synopsis:
Lauren (Miranda Tapsell) and Ned (Gwilym Lee) are living their best lives in the city, which is tragically interrupted when Lauren’s sister Ronelle dies in a car crash in the Top End. Rushing back to Darwin, Lauren and Ned are thrown into the chaos of Top End life with Lauren’s parents, Daffy and Trevor, and confronted with another curveball when they unexpectedly become the guardians of Ronelle’s lively and cheeky young daughter, Taya (Gladys-May Kelly).
This first trailer is filled with plenty of drama, a whole lot of laughs and a focus on how family, no matter how crazy they can be, are always for us, and it’s clear that this new series will give you all the feels and really pull at your heart strings.
When Top End Wedding was released back in 2019 it made a big impression on audiences with it’s old-school rom-com vibes and genuine good times, and it’s fantastic to see that both Lauren and Ned’s story will continue on screen, and especially in a new series where audiences will get to spend more time with them and learn just how crazier and cuddlier there lives have gotten since then.
Discussing the development of the series, Top End Wedding and Top End Bub star Miranda Tapsell said,“Josh Tyler and I had such a ball writing Top End Wedding that we just had to get the whole team back together to reunite Lauren and Ned for a new spin off series Top End Bub. Everything you love most about them; their family and the Top End is all there for you to enjoy! In a world full of chaos and anger, we hope the show brings joy and laughter into your home!”
This same passion to continue Lauren and Ned’s story was also echoed by Sarah Christie, Head of Local Originals Australia and New Zealand, Amazon MGM Studios, saying “Miranda, Josh and the team at Goalpost Pictures have created something truly special in Top End Bub. This series is filled to the brim with heart, warmth and humour. We are so proud to bring the series to Prime Video customers in Australia and New Zealand and can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with the Ford family again, while escaping into the beauty of the Top End of Australia.”
Top End Bub is a series we can’t wait to crack into, and with it’s mix of love and laughs it’s sure to give you that warm fuzzy feeling that we could all use right now when it debuts on Prime Video on September 12.
