Creating the Film Noir Aesthetic of Prime Video’s Spider-Noir – An interview with Lil Jun Li, Jack Huston, Abraham Popoola and Oren Uziel

Prime Video’s Spider-Noir is HERE, and audiences have been enthralled by the web-slinging actions of Nicolas Cage’s Ben Reilly/The Spider, and it’s altogether different exploration of the world and action of Spider-Man in a brand new film noir styling, not to mention being enthralled by its completely original presentation and take on the material as seen through two truly unique visual experiences with the ‘Authentic Black & White’ and ‘True-Hue Full Colour’ stylings.

We were very fortunate to be able sit down with stars Li Jun Li, Jack Huston and Abraham Popoola, who portray Cat Hardy, an alluring femme fatale nightclub singer; Flint Marko/The Sandman, a damaged WWI veteran and bruising mob enforcer; and Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone, a misunderstood giant forced to turn to criminality to survive; to discuss the series and how the series ambience, costuming and design helped to bring them into the world of Spider-Noir.

Along with chatting to LiLi, Jack and Abraham, we were also able to speak with Spider-Noir showrunner Oren Uziel to discuss the new season, and how the duality of Authentic Black & White and True-Hue Full Colour presents an interesting opportunity for audiences to experience this radical new take on the Spider-Man mythos.
