Elle Woods. The iconic blonde who took the legal world by storm and proved, once and for all, that pink and powerful go hand in hand. Now, in a deliciously stylish twist, executive producer Reese Witherspoon, alongside showrunners Laura Kittrell and Caroline Dries, rewinds the clock for Elle, a coming-of-age origin story that dives into how everyone’s favourite legal powerhouse first found her voice. And from the jump, this Prime Video prequel is radiating pure main-character energy.

Check out the full trailer for Elle below:

Before Harvard Law, there was high school, and Elle is taking us all the way back to 1995. Enter a younger Elle Woods (Lexi Minetree), who suddenly finds herself ripped from the sun-soaked ease of Bel Air and dropped into the grey, grunge-heavy chaos of Seattle. It’s culture shock dialled all the way up — and yes, she has to deal with flannel, rain, and the existential dread of grunge.

But where others might fold, Elle adapts. Expect plenty of fish-out-of-water comedy, layered teen drama, and a whole wardrobe of pretty-in-pink rebellion as she begins to carve out her identity in a world that doesn’t quite get her… yet.

Newcomer Lexi Minetree steps into the legendary heels of Elle Woods with confidence and charm, capturing a softer, more uncertain version of the character we know and love. But make no mistake, this is the beginning of a glow-up. Following in Reese Witherspoon’s footsteps, Minetree charts Elle’s evolution into the self-assured force we know is coming.

Backing her up is a killer supporting cast, including June Diane Raphael and Tom Everett Scott as her parents, Eva and Dr. Wyatt Woods, while the late James Van Der Beek makes his final on-screen appearance as Dean Wilson. And yes — Bruiser Woods is back, because some icons are simply non-negotiable.

Elle is part of Prime Video’s Obsession Is In Session initiative celebrating young adult storytelling and fandom culture, and will be featured at this year’s Obsessed Fest — the streamer’s inaugural immersive fan event taking place June 27 in Los Angeles. Fans can expect live cast panels, immersive activations, and exclusive first looks. Tickets are available at obsessed-fest.com.

With its mix of nostalgia, heart, and unapologetic sparkle, Elle is shaping up to be one of the year’s most irresistibly fun releases. Expect laughs, drama, and plenty of signature Elle Woods moments as this prequel reminds us that being yourself is always in style.

Get ready, because when Elle arrives on Prime Video on July 1, pink isn’t just a colour…. it’s a movement.
