Better described as atomically aligned rather than star-crossed, Olive and Adam, and performers Reinhart and Bateman, make for a terrific screen pairing.
Reinhart brings a natural warmth to Olive, a doe-eyed but uncertain young scientist determined to make her mark while navigating the complicated world of academia. Her unexpected arrangement with the terrifying Dr Carlsen soon proves that there may be considerably more beneath his intimidating exterior.
Bateman, meanwhile, is perfectly cast as the tall, dark and handsome academic tyrant. Adam is essentially Heathcliff in a lab coat, brooding, imposing and seemingly impossible to reach, but beneath that tough exterior lies a man of integrity, passion and a deeply complicated past.
Together, Reinhart and Bateman spark beautifully, particularly as their fake-dating arrangement begins to evolve into something considerably more genuine. Once those pheromones start buzzing, the screen begins to sizzle.
