STARZ’s Spartacus made the realm of television quake when it was unleashed on screens back in 2010, it delivered some of the wildest, outrageous, bloody and sexy television yet seen, and ignited a legion of fans in its wake. Now more than a decade since the original series epic and bloody end, original series creator Steven S. DeKnight is ready to resurrect the arena once again, and he’s bringing the calculating and scheming presence of Nick E. Tarabay’s Ashur, ‘the Syrian’, in a bold new take in Spartacus: House of Ashur, and a new trailer has just been released, and it’s awesome!

Watch the all-new trailer for Spartacus: House of Ashur below:

Here’s the official synopsis:

Set after the defeat of Spartacus in the original series, House of Ashur poses the question: what if the villainous Syrian hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?

Packed full of ultra-violence, sinfully-laced sex, and the double-crossings and dangerous scheming of The Roman Republic, House of Ashur is a real treat, and utterly delivers on its ‘what if’ premise. It also sees the rise of Nick E. Tarabay as Ashur, the former gladiator turned master schemer, through the workings of the gods sees him rise to prominence following the death of Spartacus, and now in charge of his own ludus, he must try to survive in the deceitful Roman-led Capua.

Seeking advantage and looking for glory, Tarabay’s Ashur taps the rise of the Republic’s first female gladiator Achillia (Tenika Davis), and sets the stage for a brutal and bloody rise to power that will have audiences frothing at the mouth and baying for action with what is promised. While looking to rise within the arena, Ashur will also have to outmanoeuvre a clique of dangerous and despicable Romans led by the pompous, yet violent Julius Caesar (Jackson Gallagher), and his decadent, yet menacing wife Cornelia (Jaime Slater)

This 10-episode series promises to be a full-on action, blood, sex, political intrigue and utterly epic drama, and its return is shaping up to be one of the year’s most exciting debuts when the Republic and House of Ashur arrive on December 6 on ThreeNOW.
