The secrets of a long and bitter war are about to land Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard in a world of trouble in the brand new trailer for Robert Zemeckis’s big budget romantic thriller Allied.

Pitt stars as American assassin Max Vatan, who is tasked to eliminate a high-ranking Nazi official in a secret mission that sends him to Casablanca. Arriving in the grand city he is joined by fellow spy and French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard), who pretends to be his wife and helps him carry out his mission. But their love for each other only grows following the mission, and Vatan and Beausejour eventually elope after arriving back in London. But suddenly a deadly secret emerges, and Vatan begins to suspect that his loving wife isn’t who she really says she is.

With its twisted story and accurate WWII detail, Allied could be a major contender at next year’s Academy Awards, and could potentially see Pitt and Cotillard nominated in the Best Actor and Best Actress categories. It is also a distinct possibility that Zemeckis and lauded screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises), could also win nominations.

Allied will be released in cinemas on November 22 in New Zealand and Australia and on November 23 in the US and UK.
