‘The Batman’ gets new release date and actor
It’s official! Ben Affleck is vacating the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman and will not be involved with Matt Reeves forthcoming The Batman movie.
Deadline confirmed the news and also confirmed that The Batman will now have an official release date of Summer 2021.
Matt Reeves new Batman film will serve to introduce audiences to a younger version of the character.
Information is very scarce on the project but rumours suggest that Reeves film will really play up the detective nature of the character and that villains including The Penguin, Hush and possibly the Court Of Owls may be involved in the film’s story.
While its a shame that we won’t be seeing Affleck return, the actor took to Twitter to offer up his best to Reeves for the new film:
Excited for #TheBatman in Summer 2021 and to see @MattReevesLA vision come to life. https://t.co/GNgyJroMIO

A new search will now be underway to find the next Bruce Wayne/Batman and you can be sure that we’ll be putting our own thoughts as to who we’d like to see cast so stay tuned.
The Batman will arrive in cinemas in 2021.
