Kristen Stewart stuns in ‘Spencer’

Kristen Stewart has made quite an evolution as an actress over her time on the screen and now she’s set to deliver her most grown-up and adult role to date as she takes on the prestigious role of Diana, Princess of Wales in Spencer, a haunting, almost ethereal drama that captures a period of deep change in the princesses’ life.

In 1991, during her Christmas holidays with the royal family at Sandringham House in Norfolk, Diana, Princess of Wales decides to end her marriage to Prince Charles.

Directed by Pablo Larraín who directed 2017’s haunting biopic Jackie, here Larrain brings the same focus and attention to detail here with Spencer and the result is nothing short of an emotional and thought-provoking work that is sure to get under your skin.

As for Stewart, who received considerable media attention she was cast as Diana, well she looks absolutely stunning in the role and appears to give a performance that will be utterly transformative. Not only does she make for a splitting image of Diana in this period of her life, but she also nails Diana’s distinctive voice.

While audiences are left to ponder on what the actual experience of Spencer will be like, it certainly has grabbed our attention and I’m very intrigued as to what comes next with this film.

Spencer will arrive in cinemas on January 27, 2022.
