Steel will clash, blood will flow, and a nation will be forged in BBC/CBS’ King and Conqueror, an epic mini-series that will bring to life the turbulent events of 1066 when the entire destiny of a nation was forged at the Battle of Hastings, and we have an epic first look at what will be a Teutonic series.

Starring James Norton as King Harold II of England and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as William, Duke of Normandy, King and Conqueror, will tell the epic story of the Norman conquest of England in 1066 and how a nation would forever change on the battlefield of the Battle of Hastings on 14 October 1066.

This series promises a brutal story of power and strength as two warlords battle for control of the very soul of England, and from this first look, King and Conqueror is shaping up to be a gritty and intense miniseries that promises plenty of political intrigue and a good dose of hack and slash medieval combat.

Here’s the official synopsis:

King & Conqueror is the story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back decades and extend out through a pair of interconnected family dynasties, struggling for power across two countries and a raging sea.

Both James Norton and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau have proven themselves as thespians at the top of their class, and this new series promises to throw the two of them at each other in a no-holds-barred fight for the very soul of England. They are joined by incredible support of actresses Emily Beecham as Edith Swan-neck, wife of King Harold II, and Clémence Poésy as Matilda of Flanders, Duchess of Normandy and wife to William, and each will have a role play in the actions of this high-intensity drama.

Ready yourself for an epic battle when King and Conqueror arrives on screen later this year.
